  1. Have you looked at the net framework download from Microsoft? Look at the instructions at the bottom. Perhaps you need to update Windows first.
  2. Have you looked at the net framework download from Microsoft? Look at the instructions at the bottom. Perhaps you need to update Windows first.
  3. What browser and browser version do you use? What is your default browser?
  4. I don't see a setting to hide that or to return it. I can't recall if it was there or not before I installed SP1. Do you have all of the Windows updates including Vista SP1?
  5. Hi harold. I'm glad the team as helped you. Stick around.
  6. Good to have you here. I see you have been jumping in to help. Thanks for helping.
  7. I tried all the normal fixes. Replaced my hardware and updated my drivers etc. Alas nothing worked untill I reverted to the basics. I am happy to say that a bifocal update cured my problem. :):):):):)
  8. As usuall I'm slow again. HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear lady. Now have a drink on me.
  9. Is this a good shop? If so then there is likely not much we can do. Why did you change all these components anyway? Did you have a problem? Is this a store bought computer? If so what was the original OS? You have tried to load Vista 64 bit, Vista 32 bit and XP 32 bit. Which versions of those three? Home basic, premium, Ultimate, Pro etc? Where did you get these versions and have they been installed on any other computers?
  10. That's fantastic. I'm happy to hear that the program worked and that you didn't have trouble with it. Thanks for letting us know that it worked. This will help us in the future. Might I ask what security programs you have installed? We want you stay clean in the future.
  11. Just to ask about this and the repair options. Is this disk a full Windows Vista Home Premium disk or is this a Recovery disk? What is the Make, Model and number of your PC as recovery options may differ. It does however appear that a startup repair is needed as you well know already. What ever the case may be we may have the tools you need if you do not.
  12. Hi dutchman; We were all new to forums at some point in the past. The good part is that you found us for your first forum. I'm not bragging on us. I'm just stating facts. You will not find a better forum anywhere to begin your journey.
  13. There is another tool that purports to clean up this issue at Piyush Lab. In the right column there is Heal_SSVICHOSST.
  14. Sorry about that. I misread. OK it seems you have changed the boot order. However it seems that your PC is not finding the CD drive at bootup so it's going to the next device in the list. This can only be one of two things. Either the disk is so bad it can't be read or the cd drive is faulty and can't read the disk. It's most likely the cd drive. I think you need to try a new or different cd drive.
  15. Your bios shows that your cd device is set as the second boot device not the first.
  16. Hi swag; In regards to my above post if you need instructions or have questions about SDFix look at bleepingcomputer forums. They may be best suited to help with this program if you are unsure about it.
  17. Hi Vonnie; XP ships with flashplayer for IE. Are you trying to update it to a newer version or are you trying to install it on the Firefox browser maybe? Also what version of Adobe Flash player Plugin are you trying to install? Are you getting it from the Adobe site? Memory and hard drive space are two different things. It sounds like it is saying you need 5000kb (5MB) of free hard drive space. Is your main drive partitioned to have programs on one part and data on the other part? 512MB of memory is plenty for Flash Player. You only need 128MB.
  18. Hi bountyhunter; As Wolfeymole has stated this procedure has a proven track record. In the case of pyagcore it has always been effective if you have followed DirtyPolos advice on removing add-on toolbars first. You MUST first remove the kiwee toolbar. Remove the toolbar using Programs and Features in the Control Panel. This is the original source of the infection. Next you must run ALL the scans in the exact order provided. Make sure you check for updates after installing SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes. Do not run one scan now and the others later. Run them one after another all at the same time. If you follow these instructions the infection will be gone just as it has for all the others who have had the same infection and sought advice here on it.
  19. Thankyou vunsworth. Stick around.
  20. I have read of some success removing this error message using SDFix. It seems it is a leftover from a previous infection. Download SDFix and double click the exe file. This will create a text file. Reboot into safe mode and open the text file. The text file will display where SDFix was extracted to. Copy the path into the run box and click ok. Double click the RunThis.bat file. Follow the prompts.
  21. As Match said update your Messenger. Then in Messenger options make sure the Alert settings are set to notify when you recieve new mail. Also in Messenger options in the Sign In section choose when and how you want Messenger to start.
  22. Hi doug; With all due respect we can't advise you on a fix because you haven't told us anything except that it crashed. What are the details of the "crash"? What is the make, model and number of the laptop? Were the disks really backup disks? Could they have been Recovery disks instead? Why does your friend say he needs to do a System Restore? This is not the same as a recovery to factory defaults. A system Restore can be done from the Recovery Console.
  23. Hi Match. That's a very good introduction. I'm glad you like our forum and hope you stick around for many years to come.
  24. Well there is HouseCall. I have used it with some success in the past but since it's been quite a while I don't know how up to date it is these days. I would just fire up the IE and run Eset if I were you. Is there any reason why you are scanning? If you think you have an infection we would be happy to assist you.
  25. Hi Doug; I've heard about it but never tried it as I have no need of it. It's main purpose appears to be for making ISO image disks. It will of course do other things but I have to ask about your needs. Windows XP will burn data disks natively but not ISO disks. Do you need software that will create those? Most computers that came with a writer and writers purchased afterwards will come with some pretty basic software that has a lot of functions including ISO creation and disk copy. Not copyright of course but I know that is not what you mean. What burning software do you have now? You may not need this.
