  8. Thanks Matt for taking the time to post on our forum and providing the links. It's very nice of the BitDefender group to take this extra step. We have a very short list of security products that we recommend and BitDefender is on it. A response such as this reaffirms why BitDefender is on our list.
  9. What's the service tag of the Dell. We could look it up to see what your recovery options are. Look in Disk Management to see how many drives or partitions are listed. Maybe you deleted the recovery partition.

  11. Hi URCHIN. One licensed copy of Windows means one computer only. So you would need two. You should run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor first to see if your computer is up to it.

  13. ok you're using web based mail and not an email client. In that case I don't know. I can get to my hotmail on Opera with no problem.
  14. On March 1st this exact same question was tacked onto a different thread by you only then you said it happened some time back. Now you say it was just a day ago. You also never replied to the answers. There is also the matter of the removed link in the signature. Does everyone see where I'm going with this?

  17. I'm up for a good game. If I get it I'll see how good my security is and open it. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS ANYONE ELSE.
  18. Great work Heather, Jelly Bean and Tootech. Sometimes a profile can be corrupted. One way to help protect data loss in such an event is to have a second Administrator account set up or as Tootech said set up THE Administrator account or Super Administrator account in Vista. That way you can log in and move your data after restoring your profile. I set one up on my Vista exactly as this article explains. How to enable the Administrator account in Vista
  19. As Armageddon noted there is usually a pinhole. The problem is with some of these now days is that the pinhole is there but it's behind the face plate of the computer. With some computers you can manually open the portion of the face plate that contains the optical drive but on others you can not. If you can not and ejecting via Computer won't work you may need to remove the entire face plate of the computer to remove the drive or gain access to the pinhole.
  20. You can read the article at cnet. Beware the new Facebook password reset scam | InSecurity Complex - CNET News
  21. Hi Tom. Good to have you here. Always nice to have more security experts.
  22. Live Messenger has add issues in the past with getting booted as many of us know. It appears to be a problem with them. It happened more often to us when using it to conference. Sign and and click Tools>Options>Messages. Tic Show Emoticons. Click Apply>OK.
  23. Did you try using a DVD-R disk? Did you burn the disk as a standard DVD that will work in any DVD player? Did you format the disk with the burning program which essentially will allow you to add and delete individual files just like you can on a floppy. If you did then it might not work unless you use a compatable program.
  24. Try and save data time. PE or Knoppix as Tootech said or connect the laptop drive to a desktop with a converter. That's what I do.
  25. Goku is right on all points as to why we listed what we did and left others out. Yes there are other programs that are fine but we chose what we did after much reasearch and discussion. I use Mcafee antivirus and firewall as a bundle but it's not on the list either. Just my preference. I've had a fair amount of experience with the freeware we listed and I can tell you that they are excellent.
