  1. I was told that things were not good but I did not expect it to be so soon. BeeCeeBee as he was known here was a good man. He was also well known and respected on other forums as well as by his family and friends. Barry was always looking for a chance to help others. It is indeed a good man who seeks to do so. The world is a lesser place without him in it. I am truely saddened by this news.
  2. We had a thread stickied that we made some videos from a site in India. The short clips were stock and we added subtitles for humor. I unstuck the thread because no one was using it.
  3. Sorry for the glitch. There were ten OTL log posts in moderation. I approved them all. I don't know why it happened but I'll keep an eye on it.
  4. Is ESET and MSE both installed and running? Having more then one antivirus program running in real time mode can cause this.
  5. Thanks seedy. I always look elsewhere for downloads when an installer is needed for downloads. Even if it's legit I never trust them. Way too often the installer is bundled with malware.
  6. Just to add. Deleting your browsing history in IE will remove all cookies. You can even set IE to automatically delete your browsing history everytime you close IE.
  7. Please be patient Slumdog. The security team will help as soon as they get a chance.
  8. If it's not broke don't fix it. :) Glad everything is to your satisfaction Ray. I'll mark this as solved.
  9. Ray I'm in unfamiliar territory here so please make a manual restore point in System Restore before doing anything else. Microsoft Office Document Image Writer is part of Microsoft Office. As such you may want it at some time. There does seem to be a way of uninstalling it but I only found instructions for installing and updating. The instructions should get you close to the uninstall though. Close all Office programs including email clients like Outlook and Outlook Express before doing the following. Try this first. Go back to Printers and Faxes. Make sure your printer is set as the default. Try it now. If that doesn't work go back and right click Microsoft Office Document Image Writer and select remove or uninstall. Try it now. My last guess is below. Steps 1-6 might get you to where you can uninstall it. I don't have Microsoft Office so proceed at your own risk. These are not my instructions. Instructions for installing and updating. 1. Close all running applications. If you have any Office application running, the driver will not be installed properly. 2. Go to the "Control Panel" and "Add or Remove Programs". 3. Click on"Microsoft Office 2003" and then click on "Change". 4. Check "Add or Remove Features" and click "Next". 5. On the bottom of the page check "Choose advanced customization of applications." and click "Next". 6. Under Microsoft Office click on the + sign in front of "Office Tools" 7. Locate "Microsoft Office Document Imaging", click the icon and select "Not Available". 8. Click on "Update". This will uninstall the MODI driver. 9. Repeat steps 1 to 6 to go back to the same location you were before. 10. Locate the object "Microsoft Office Document Imaging", click the icon and select "Run from My Computer". 11. Click on "Update".
  10. Hi Ray. By any chance do you have Microsoft Office installed? This might be an Office issue and not a printer issue. When Windows was installed on your new drive Office or a trial version Of Microsoft Office may have been installed at the same time. Look at Printers and Faxes in the Control Panel. Is there a Microsoft Office Document Image Writer listed?
  11. I looked at your mouse and it did not come with software. So we can rule that out. It just uses the basic USB drivers. It is strange that it does the same thing with both the cordless mouse and the touchpad. Best to do what Plastic Nev suggested. It can't hurt.
  12. I'm glad you found a solution. I probably would have done the same thing. I hope it was the free version of AVC that did it for you. Good luck and thanks to you too.
  13. Make, model and number of the computer? Desktop, laptop, netbook? Touch pad, Think Pad? Mouse? Make, model, number? PS2 or USB? Any side buttons? Was mouse software installed? Does this happen....... On just web pages? On just some web pages? In programs? In system folders?
  14. That will save you money. Especially with the energy rating.
  15. As Nev said this might also be a codec problem. Although MPG may be supported in Windows Live Moviemaker the codecs used to compress the file may not exist on your new computer. At least not as far as Moviemaker is concerned. Microsoft dropped native support in Windows 8 for some things like the ability to view DVD's in Windows without a third party program. Costs and hassles with supplying codecs and decoders due to licensing. The problem with codecs is it's hard to figure out exactly which ones you need and getting them from unknown sources on the internet can be very dangerous. My Sony is so old it uses high 8 millimeter. My only option is to connect it via cable to a VCR or DVD burner. To edit I have to burn a DVD on my stand alone DVD burner/player then put the DVD in my computer, locate the VOB file and use a free program to convert it to WMV. From there Moviemaker will accept it. Since your Sony is newer I doubt it is 8 millimeter. Some come with software for editing or converting. Sony support might have some info on this. Check the Sony site to see if such software is available for your model and number. For that matter if there is software available for it maybe the codecs will install along with it.
  16. The best option would probably be a System Restore.
  17. If you go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-live/movie-maker-file-types-faq and click on Video files you will see a list of supported files and formats. At first glance it appears to support mpg but look at the Notes at the bottom and you will see this...( I highlited relevant sections) •Video files that use digital rights management (DRM) can't be used in Movie Maker. •Support for using MPEG‑2 and Microsoft Recorded TV Show video files in your movie is available only if your computer is running one of the following editions of Windows: Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise, or Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows Vista Home Premium, or Windows Vista Ultimate. •AVCHD video files that contain Dolby Digital audio can be used in Movie Maker if your computer is running one of the following editions of Windows: Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise, or Windows 7 Ultimate. •MPEG‑4 video files that contain AAC audio can be used if you're using Movie Maker on a computer running Windows 7. •3GPP and 3GPP2 video files that are often recorded on a mobile phone can be used in Movie Maker if the file contains MPEG‑4 video, AAC audio, and if Movie Maker is installed on a computer running Windows 7. 3GPP video files might contain AMR audio and 3GPP2 files might contain AMR or QCELP audio instead. In these cases, the video will often play, but the audio won't. Files that contain H.263 video might not play in Movie Maker without installing additional codecs. •Some MPEG‑4 video files can be used when you're using Movie Maker on a computer running Windows Vista if the necessary audio and video codecs are installed. Notice that Windows 8 is not listed but Vista is for MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. You may need to convert those files in a different program first.
  18. The Recovery Backup Wizard is probably the method you use to create disks to fully reinstall the operating system should something go wrong with the hard drive or if all other methods fail. All data, programs and updates will be lost. It would be just as it was when you bought it most likely. If you never made the disks you should do so now before you do anything else. Also be advised that on some brands and models of computers the method you use to reinstall may not in the future give you access to the hidden partion recovery option. So make the disks if you can just to be safe.
  19. That's my dresser. Funny thing is that only my wife has her things in it.
  20. An email link on a web page is a MailTo Protocol. It's a specific type of link associated with opening a email client program. It does not link directly to any webmail. If you right click it and select Properties you will see something like mailto:username@useremail.com in the Address (URL) line. Internet Explorer does not support setting up the Protocol to link to webmail. Firefox does to Yahoo and Gmail and might have extensions for others though.
  21. New Windows Brand new windows. No not Windows 8.1. Windows for the house. Pella Designer Series. The best window Pella makes. Triple pane, Low-E, Argon filled. Solid oak with metal clad exterior. cordless mini blinds and room darkening shades inside the panes.
  22. Sorry Ray but I am out of ideas. All the suggestions by everyone have always solved this problem. Not just by us but by everyone. I suggest you print out all the instructions by all of us and try, try again. You could also try a System Restore and pick a date before this happened. You could also try Internet Options>Advanced tab>Restore Internet Explorer settings>Reset The above option will do many things like uninstalling toolbars etc. but you can try it if you want.
  23. That file path may be linking to an external source from the disk in the drive. Did you reinstall the program using old account information? Perhaps Revo Uninstaller free version or trial may be in order. After that reinstall the program but if it asks if you have an account don't use the old account. Another thing to try is install the entire program instead of a minimal install which means you need the disk in the drive to access certain files of the program. Either way I would start with Revo Uninstaller. This should wipe all traces including pictures, saved files etc.
  24. Adobe Reader is one option. Make sure you uncheck the Chrome and Google Toolbar option before you click Download.
  25. OK let me add a couple things. Right click a IE shortcut. Select Properties. Make sure the shortcut tab is selected. Next to Run: use the drop down arrow and select Normal window. Close all open IE Windows. Reopen IE. If Normal window was already selected change it. Close all open IE Windows. Reopen IE. Next to Run: use the drop down arrow and select Normal window. Close all open IE Windows. Reopen IE. As for my instructions you need to open a new instance of IE. Once you have one Window open don't open a second by clicking a link. Instead use the IE icon in the quick launch area if you have it enabled or use a different IE shortcut to open a second instance of IE. When doing the following when you open each window make sure it is not set as Maximized when you drag the window larger. (the box between the _ and the x at top right of page) Drag the window larger. Don't close it. Open a new window. Drag it larger. Maximize the second window. Maximize the first window. Close the first window. Close the second window. Open a new window. The instructions for IE have to be exact. Sometimes I have to do it a few times with IE.
