  1. Sorry about the delayed response have been moving When you stated: Were you not able to find the import function or it did not import correctly? I use Thunderbird on Linux and the Import function is under Tools. Hope that helps and once again sorry about the delayed response.
  2. Greetings Bob welcome aboard.
  3. That has been created since Windows 7. So it is not something that has just appeared. As to why it now has a drive letter associated to it we will need to ask @KenB and or @starbuck. May be caused by an update or one of the new releases I can not say hoping that they might have an answer for us.
  4. See if this helps to explain what it is used for. The System Reserved Partition holds the Boot Configuration Database, Boot Manager Code, Windows Recovery Environment and reserves space for the startup files which may be required by BitLocker, in case you use the BitLocker Drive Encryption feature. https://www.howtogeek.com/192772/what-is-the-system-reserved-partition-and-can-you-delete-it/
  5. I was asking if they all had MEBx or just the one that you were having issues with.
  6. From what you have stated the system is still under warranty. You should be talking to them before it gets to late to return it or have it repaired. This way they also have it documented that this is happening. (If you have no done so already). Since they system is still under warranty you may wish to be careful about opening it may and or may not void the warranty. Some things that may be causing this. Windows 10 constantly updating Other installed software updating (also installing the updates) During shipping some thing may have come loose and may not be making a proper connection and just need to be reseated Hardware failing Something mis-configured software you are using not compatible with Windows 10.
  7. The system that you are having the slow boot on is it the only one with MEBx?
  8. I really do not remember that much about the MBEX settings. It has been (cough cough) a long time since I have.:o
  9. How goes the Windows 10 system?
  10. The Media you are using to install Windows 10 were did it come form? Was it created by the system having issues? The CD/DVD reader in the system may be going (if there is one). The media its self may be bad. RAM could be failing Have you tried to reseat the HDD/RAM/DVD power and data cables? Test the RAM. This system still taking ages to boot even with Widows 7? Have you ran a chkdsk /r /f form the admin command prompt? What were the results? How many user-names are on the system? Are they having the same issue? What is the difference between the one that will not update and the ones that have? Which version of Windows? Did you attempt it in Safe Mode? Have you tried resetting the BIOS to defaults and see if it updates? If the CMOS battery is old and needs replaced could be a possibility. Have you tried a reset?
  11. Not a problem let us know if you need any thing.
  12. Hi Bob how are you doing? Laptop or Desktop? First thing I would do is clear all the dust out form the system. Get some cans of compressed air and blow the system clean. Make sure the system is powered off and unplugged. Read the instruction on the can. Spray in short burst and when the can start to feel cool to the touch switch to a different can. For some reason they do not spray well when they start getting cold. After they warm up to room temp they work fine. Do this in a well ventilated room or outside this way the dust does not settle all over the inside furniture or worse you or someone inhaling it. Do NOT turn the cans upside down turn the system. Remove the battery and blow that our as well. NOTE: For cleaning fans you take the chance of wrecking the bearings with the compressed air. Compressed air can actually accelerate the fans beyond their rated speeds and damage them, if you are cleaning them out with air, it is often recommended to hold the blades in place with a toothpick or other non-conducive material. Now you can use the Windows Disk Cleanup or download the portable version of CCleaner.
  13. Excellent go team. Lets see how it goes for a while. Keep us informed.
  14. Have been reading that a lot of people are having that issue. Have a look at this thread and if you have any questions feel free to ask [solved] - Mint 18.1 Cinnamon Touchscreen Rotation I will be out of town (31-8-2017) to the doctors so may have more of a delayed response. The say to check Cinnamon Settings by going to Menu Select Preferences Then General see if there is the Disable automatic screen rotation, make sure it is OFF. May need to install iio-sensor-proxy from the Software Manager
  15. Fantastic keep us updated and if you need help let us know.
  16. Tested USB how I did it and the results. Made the USB using the USB Image Writer that comes with Linux Mint 18. Went into BIOS made sure that the USB was set as First Boot Secure Boot was on Legacy Off Booted to the USB several times worked just fine loaded like it should used and navigated just fine.
  17. Have you tried the USB on another system yet and what was the results? Some system (if it is enables in the BIOS) you can press like F12 to one time change to boot from. Do not know if you have tried that or not Have never used Unetbootin before have been using USB Image Writer from within Mint and have had no issues as of yet. Do you have a version of Linux installed on a system or just using the DVD/USB? Which version Number of Mint are we working with. I know that 18 works with out disabling Secure and do not have to change to the Legacy using DVD have not tested using USB. Now are you wanting to run Mint as live to see how it work with your system or run it as if it was installed on your HDD off the USB.
  18. Hi if you do not mind I have a few questions. 1. What distro and version of Linux are you attempting to try out? Ubuntu, Mint, Puppy I use Linux Mint Cinnamon 18 to me closely resemble Windows 7. 2. How did you create the USB Linux stick? Size of the USB drive? I have used PenDriveLinux and Rufus both have worked for me. Have also done an install onto a USB just like I would a HDD. Found that 32 GB or larger work best. 3. You stated that you changed the BIOS to Legacy did you remember to turn off Secure Boot and make sure that the USB was still set to boot prior to the HDD.
