  1. It says 3x 3.5mm jacks which would be right for 5.1 sound. If they are connected correctly then its either the drivers or the software
  2. I would contact HP and see what they advise as 58 is hot
  3. Yeah sorry about that, thats just Corels home page :)
  4. Corel Draw is one of the best Corel - CorelDRAW, WinDVD, Ulead Video Studio, Paint Shop Pro, WordPerfect, WinZip, & Painter Other than technical abilities of CAD (which I am guessing you dont need)
  5. It shuld be an option when it brings the other screen up :)
  6. No worries let us know how you get on :)
  7. Love the wording of both the post and email :)
  8. The bottom line is that AGP cannot compete with PCI-E GPUs, the bandwidth that PCI-E can handle alone is far more than AGP. The MOBO you have acquired has onboard GPU and if I am honest should only be used for a low end PC, browsing the web, etc. Dont waste your money on older technology unless its for a specific purpose, the hardware you have got in your current system will outweigh the recently acquired, if needs be replace the 9500GT with something more powerful or add a second 9500GT for SLI I know its not what you want to hear, but its honest :)
  9. If you have access to another PC then you are better adding the HDD to that system and then rescuing any files that you need. And then put the HDD back in your system and restore it via recovery partition/recovery disks
  10. I would have a look inside the PC for anything obvious, if its been moved around it could have loosend the RAM, GPU or something similar, reseat them anyway just to be sure, when the PC POSTS does it list all the components, all HDDs etc Overheating is the most likely cause as the others have said (especially if it has been in storage) get some compressed air and have a good blast in the system (short sharp bursts) Did you build the PC or someone else?
  11. I personally like Dell monitors 24'' would fall into that price range and leave you some left over, you wouldnt be disapointed anyway :)
  12. The BIOS just detects physical devices connected to the board with DATA and POWER cables. Windows in order to recognise them they need to be formatted and usable (which is why when you connect a new drive you need to go into disk management and activate the drive. The problem here is that the user has no idea if they were configured as RAID at one point (if they were then the data will not be able to be recovered) if they werent then by adding the drive to another PC the files should show and then moved/burned to media etc
  13. Glad we have at least provided some help for you. There are so many different variations of software and what they can do. If you do work like this a lot then I would look at some specialist software for it
  14. Glad you got it sorted, I would say not enough to the CPU :) Strange though as the MOBO will usually do it for you on AUTO
  15. So everything was ok until you ran a defrag? what software did you use for the defrag? The problem with defrags is that it moves files around the HDD, it only takes a few moved to a bad sector on the HDD and your stuck.. If you keep pressing F8 on startup it should bring up a black screen similar to the POST screen that will allow you to boot to safe mode, last known good configuration etc. Try the last known good configuration and see if it gets you back to the OS
  16. So do you get the internet through the TV box or is it a cable modem with a router?
  17. Did they install the new Modem, its black looks oval shaped from the front (becuase the old ones only support MAX of 20GB)
  18. Your MOBO has onboard GPU too (have you tried connecting the monitor to this to see if you get a display?) Within the BIOS you should be able to enable/disable the onboard GPU (if you are using an add in card then its probably been disabled, some boards do this automatically but some dont, so should have been done manually) Lets try and see if we can identify the problem before you buy a new GPU
  19. It wont open a JPEG what it will do is allow you to open a JPEG and then copy and paste the image into excel and then edit from there adding text boxes and lines etc. If you dont want to use this option of copy and paste then paint will also allow JPEG alteration
  20. It seems that your PC either entered sleep or hibernation mode while either installing the updates or just after. when you turned the PC off it could have been doing updates, which would explain for the pausing at the boot screen. SO if you can use safe mode from the POST screen and get into windows, you should be able to see the event viewer and see what went on
  21. If the ink was one colour only (looks like black) then it could be part of the assembly to transfer the ink over. If this is right then there should be one of these for each colour... If not then the ink could have leaked onto this at least giving an indication of where it should go..
  22. It's easier to test a PSU with a paperclip (plug the paperclip into the GREEN and one of the BLACK GROUND wires) you have to connect something to the PSU (I use a fan on one of the Molex') plug it in and see if the fan turns if not the PSU is dead
  23. Just get a 20" screen off ebay or use an LCD one, you can get them for <£100 now new
  24. Why use a graphics program when you can use Excel, thats a very easy requirement
