  1. DSTM is spot on, if they were configured as RAID 0 (striped) then the data is split across 2 drives (each drive holds part of the data) this is the biggest flaw with RAID 0 as you get marginal increased speed but the flip side to that is if this happens you lose the data. If you wanted to try and recover the data you need to purchase a drive the same as the one that has your data on and try and re build the RAID array, I wouldnt hold much hope though as it VERY rarely works. For future if you need RAID use RAID 1 (mirrored) So basically if you are hoping to recover the data you cant due to the way RAID 0 is configured, you cant even use an external enclosure as the above way in which RAID 0 works is by splitting the data across the 2 drives. Sorry this isn't what you want to hear, but you know for the future.
  2. Give us a budget to work to and yes its very easy :)
  3. Hey that picture looks like me with my pal Brian, are you a stalker :D Welcome :)
  4. Glad its all up and running and for letting us know :) you know where we are should you need further assistance
  5. No worries, let us know how you get on :)
  6. Ok, thanks for updating us, and do let us know how you get on :)
  7. You have wasted your money, it is pointless upgrading AGP graphics as even some of the budget PCIE cards are better than the highest end AGP You should upgrade in a new MOBO and CPU/RAM etc before GPU I know its not what you want to hear but any MOBO that uses AGP cards is old and not worth putting more money into
  8. I dont see how, getting data sent from WIFI as in using the web at McDonalds etc is different to allowing the transfer of data from a PC to an Iphone. you need to create a link between the PC and the Iphone and the only way to do that is a cable or the other methods I mentioned before. We may be getting crossed wires, but give us as much info as you can on the app (the name etc) and we will try and help you. Dont take the above as negative, I am trying to help :)
  9. The BSOD ONLY applies to the CPU, have you installed ALL the latest drivers for chipset. Basically whats happening is that when you are trying to run something one of your cores isnt working and the PC is BSOD. Now I have seen this before in the older chips and it was related to the BIOS (a BIOS update was released that cured the problem) Now if you are still getting the BSOD then either you dont have the very latest BIOS or your CPU is knackered :( As for the GPU thing, the GPU is not the cause of the BSOD, so just a coincidence Out of interest whats the PSU rated at?
  10. Here are the drivers Service & Support
  11. It can only be the screen, if its ok when connected to an external monitor, the backlight can go, but its often a loose connection from the ribbon that connects the screen to the MOBO, its not an easy fix unless you know what you are doing. If its covered by DELL then get it done, if not your looking £100+ for a new screen
  12. It's really easy to fit, it will only go in one way - look at the notches on the RAM and fit accordingly :) whip the side panel off and the RAM slots are normally in the top right corner of the board http://www.hardwarezone.com.my/img/data/articles/2008/2754/1%20-%20DIMM%20slots.jpg You have to move the white tabs down (this will allow the RAM to go in) and when the RAM is inserted these should 'click' into place :)
  13. It would yes, if the connectors are all not correct as in + and - then the buttons dont work it would be stuck on of off (depending on the orientation of the wires) :)
  14. Is it an add in card like this http://www.bailoy.com/images/products/PCI_Serial_Port_Card.jpg If so then you need the specific driver for that device (from the manufacturer)
  15. Then either the drive is knackered or their is a problem with the IDE cable are you 100% sure that you installed it to the 300GB and not the 60GB~?
  16. Check the manufacturers website for Bad Company 2 (EA is it?) there will be some patches released, it will be these and not the GPU drivers.
  17. You will need to do them seperately from the device manager. any with a yellow exclamation need to be done the same way as the one you have just done.
  18. Are the drives set correctly between master/slave on the cable as well as the HDDs themselves (jumpers)? If more than one drive is present then in the boot order it should list either:- HDD-0 HDD-1 CD/DVD Rom USB etc ect or:- Maxtor (numbers) Seagate (numbers) CD/DVD Rom USB etc Just make sure the drive with the OS is at the very top and disable the rest.
  19. You cant send/receive data from a phone to a PC other than by a data cable or email. you can use a bluetooth dongle in the PC and send/receive via bluetooth, but you wont get a wireless connection between a PC and a phone :)
  20. Weird, let us know what they say, CTRL,ALT,DEL would only work if the PC was already on and gone into sleep/hebernation, this can happen if you close the lid before the lappy has actually shut down :) May also explain the odd flicker of life from the HDD LED
  21. Sounds like one of the connections on the phono ports are causing static, this can also occur if you have a mobile device close to the sub :)
  22. There all here http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%c2%ae+4+Series+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Desktop+Board+DG45ID you need the second from the bottom for the chipset :)
  23. Have you set the first boot device to the correct HDD? is there more than one HDD in the system? After you set the first boot device (I always recommend disabling the others) failing that can you give us more info, HDD type IDE/SATA, using onboard SATA or a PCI card
  24. Set it to 1.5x the amount of RAM in the system (in your case 1.5GB is the size you need to increase the page file to) How to manually change the size of the virtual memory paging file You must be logged on as an administrator or as a member of the administrator’s group to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from completing this procedure. To manually change the size of virtual memory, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then press ENTER. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance click Settings. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Virtual memory click Change. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change. Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, type a new paging file size in megabytes (MB) in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set. Click OK to close the dialog box and apply changes. Note After you change the size of the paging file, you may be prompted to restart Windows. If you are prompted to restart, the changes will not take effect until Windows is restarted
  25. Have you checked and double checked all the power connections to everything, the 20/24 pin ATX (and the 4/8 pin one) when you do this and turn it on, at the very least there should be an LED on the MOBO somewhere that lights up.
