  1. Your GPU is not up to scratch to play modern games and yes WOW isnt exactly modern, you need to invest in a better GPU - try turning the settings in the game lower than they are at present and turn off AA and AF
  2. Hi and welcome :) there are a selection of skilled people here who specialise in all aspects of PCs and I am sure you wont have to wait long for the answer you need
  3. Snow, first off thank you for the explanation as to why you like Kaspersky, I do respect peoples views and all I asked for was what you provided :) Scott, This is the DIRECT QUOTE you gave:- As for me being back posting, its a matter of my personal preference. You leaving is yours. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and if you don't want to debate, then its your problem and not mine. :)
  4. He he sarcasm at its finest, was the intended outcome :D
  5. Looking at the spec of the 2400 it does have an ATA (IDE) HDD you would need to purhase an IDE model CD/DVDRW or buy a SATA controller card if you have a spare PCI slot available which would also allow you to add a SATA HDD at a later date if needed or an additional CD/DVDRW
  6. If you re post exactly what you are wanting the PC to do, how long you need it and if you need an OS etc including (remember if you are strapped for cash at the moment you can use windows 7 FREE until June for nowt) I will give you my opinions on the components you should be using and then you can compare :)
  7. Not bad going for someone who said MS security products were pretty rubbish  I have used pretty much all Security suites, tested them on my servers and the only decent one I have used that completely protected the server is the Norton Enterprise Version Now given that I HATE norton with a passion owning Sygate they must be doing something right - the consumer market is a different matter and I have seen first hand what the likes of Kaspersky doesnt stop and a quick google search will enlighten you to its 'underperforming' abilities
  8. The case it comes with is for more than protecting the phone. You can set profiles depending on whether the phone is in the case or outside of it and it saves your battery power, there is a magnet in the case and if you look on the back of the phone there are some copper terminals. It basically reduces the functions of the phone while it is in the case in order to save power. These can be amended in the profile section Cracking phone when you get used to them
  9. Last time I checked a dried material made from Grapes would not conduct anything ;) I have seen allsorts used to dry lappys and mobiles and my personal favourite is the rice, get some rice (straight from packet no need to cook :D) And put the object in pan with the rice and the rice absorbs the water/liquid. It works on phones, lappys have plenty of ventilation holes so you may want to remove everything you can before attempting this
  10. Just make sure you dont use the internet when you disable Norton  Goku, I am aware that it was Snows opinion and I wanted to ask what it was based on thats all and am sorry to snow if I came across as rude
  11. It isnt common for one of the DIMM slots on the MOBO to go at any time. You also need to manually set the timings and the voltages etc in the BIOS just to make sure they are correct, you should be able to get these from the manufacturers website.
  12. Based on what? Virus Bulletin : VB RAP testing results
  13. You have to be aware that if you have mixed speeds of RAM in the slots that the whole capacity of both sticks run at the slowest speed. 1GB of 3200 is better than 1.25GB of 2700
  14. You can get a 260GTX for the same money - or a GTX275 get one of the above over the 9800GT as the 9800GT was a great card around a year ago and not so much compared to the above 2
  15. Goto Start > Control panel > admin tools > disk management If it is not seen in there then it is not connected to the caddy properly
  16. I would say that you are right with the boards themselves being broke. If you changed the CMOS battery and it then loaded the ACER screen and then it did the same thing on the next try, I would say that the BIOS chips are beyond repair or the MOBO is. If the MOBOs are exactly the same you can try swapping one of the BIOS chips - its an easy process, but you need some special extractor like pliers
  17. In order to function correctly a HDD should ALWAYS have at least 10% of the drive free. Did you make your system or was it a shop one? It may have partitions on the drive for the backup and utilities, this at most would occupy around 10-20GB
  18. You also rather than using a caddy can hook the HDD up out of the case and use an external SATA port if your PC has one, if the HDD is IDE then follow the same process with the IDE cable
  19. As you are using Vista, you could use the inbuilt Groove utility About file sharing workspaces A file sharing workspace is a special type of Groove workspace that enables you to share the contents of a folder in your Windows file system across all computers on which you have your Groove account, and with other Groove users by invitation. Note: File sharing workspaces are not supported on computers running a 64-bit operating system. When you invite people to join a file sharing workspace, they select a folder for sharing on their computers. All members of a file sharing workspace have access to its contents (files and subfolders).
  20. People consider 'virtual drives' to be different things If you are referring to daemon tools which is a virtual drive tool then I would save yourself the headache, it basically allows you to mount an image onto a virtual drive. What the others are referring to is a list function like you have in WMP at the side where you can add/remove and burn files, And is not a 'virtual drive'
  21. As Maynard has said the GPU is underpowered for that game. It also depends on what size resolution you are trying to play and the settings set on the game. If you are trying to play at around the 20-22'' mark then set the settings for the game to low and turn off all the AA and AF you really need something along the lines of the 260GTX or 4850 to play that game on a 20-22'' screen
  22. as long as it has a + and a - on the information then it will play them and most drives if not all drives do play both. + is used more for compatability with DVD players built into older TVs etc - is more commonly used now
  23. Quad chip is overkill for the occasional website and older games. Dual core will suit your needs better and save you some cash
  24. Hi Jelly Bean, I have a work one of these and yes they are very good, but so are all blackberrys, depending on who you get your contract with the ability to send and receive emails can cost you as much as £50 on TOP of your contract so make sure you get that sorted first :) There are lots of apps and in terms of a smart phone it is comparible to the Iphone and the HTC Hero
  25. Are you using onboard video or an add in card? If it's an add in card you can try the other port on the back if there is more than 1, some ports are known to just fail. If you are using an add in card but also have onboard - try the onboard. When you have an add in card as well as on board you should always disable the onboard in the BIOS when using the add in card
