    You can use any disk as long as its the same version of the OS you have the key for - As the others have said, you need to call MS and they will change your key over to one that will work (this is all based on the fact that the disk is legit and you do not have the same key used on another PC)

    As Maynard has said thats a Nvidia Error - most likely GPU drivers or if you have an Nforce chipset MOBO - you can get that error too

    Have you completely reformatted the drive? I fixed a PC the other week on this and I had to reformat and do the whole install again after it being handed to me as you describe. When you say the fan is plugged into the PSU - can you show me a pic please. as if anything fan wise comes from the PSU its normally to plug into the MOBO so the MOBO can control the Fan speed in the PSU. Remove one of the cards as the OS may not like it - make sure you remove the lowest card on the MOBO if that makes sense

    It just sounded unclear what had recommended you to remove what. If you get an error when you load the program then the install didn't complete correctly

    Your issue will not be the CPU, it will be the GPU, as BeeCeeBee has said laptops unless you pay over £1500 are not gaming machines

    type dxdiag in the run command and see have a look on the screen it pops up - have a look and check everything is running like 3D rendering etc or if it says otherwise

    Most CPU coolers use the 4 pin design as Match said - they are for the MOBO to keep an eye on the temps and if it starts getting toasty it ups the speed of the fan. Have you set the first boot device in the BIOS to HDD and disabled the rest? 2x 7950 will draw around 300 Watts

    Its all just a con Doug, all you need is an optical one - unless you do alot of heavy gaming like me :D and then you can get ones with weights in and all sorts of stuff on them. I have a glow in the dark keyboard (for late night sessions) and an MS mouse that cost me about £50 3 years ago

    Direct X and graphics driver updates are 2 very different things - on DXDIAG it will tell you what version you have - get the latest one and it will overwrite any older versions :)

    You may get some other resellers - just type in that type of enclosure and see what you get :)

    Does it say anything above all that - it normally gives an indication of what is stopping it booting normally - what was the last thing you did before you got this?

    If it boots in safe mode - then its not necessarily the GPU - you still need the GPU in safe mode - It does sound more like your drivers

    Have you looked in MSCONFIG under the startup options? can you post a screen shot of them with the windows expanded

    There are some mobile phones that you can plug into say your laptop and then use the phones mobile broadband to access the internet on the lappy, but the phones are few and far between. As for your Ipod having the ability to do that, I doubt it very much

    So you are saying that you are actually swapping the laptop screens over - not a job for the inexperienced, so either you know what you are doing or more worryingly you dont. If its the latter then you could have stretched the cable that connects the screen to the base unit, and if thats the case you better return it to DELL if you have any warranty. Regardless of which way you look at your post - External monitors work, and your original one and spare one don't.

    Right - lets just get something right on the old Refresh rate ok- 60 herts - NOT RECOMMENDED if it drops below this 9/10 the game will crash or an error will appear 59 herts - RECOMMNDED on all systems as it wont have a fit if it goes under or over this value -

    I cleared solitaire - only to realise that the submit button didnt work :mad: All Admins mods and Smods should not be allowed to play games - that will leave me more of a chance - wha ha ha :D In all seriousness though, I do play some of them now and again, but they arent exactly Crysis :) or Guild Wars.
