  1. I'll leave you with Starbuck as he is here more than me, the main thing is that you can get into task manager and if need be get any data you want to keep from the system :)
  2. Dual channel DDR3 1333(O.C.) / DDR2 1066(O.C.) support So only with overclocking can it support the higher speed RAM
  3. Hi and welcome to FPCH :)
  4. Let it boot to windows normally and when you get to the desktop/blank blue screen and nothing comes up press CTRL, ALT, DEL Does it bring up the task manager box?
  5. Why would you want to underclock it? Nvidia system tools is for the GPU not CPU and your system originally came with an ATI card, whereas Nvidia is for Nvidia cards only
  6. Or a recovery partition or set of recovery disks, when it gets to this stage a complete wipe is best... you can actually press CTRL, ALT and DELETE and use the RUN option in task manager to get into msconfig and such, but its a wasted effort- format is best
  7. Overclocking is board specific, but its somtimes limited by the multiplier on the CPU itself. Without knowing which i5 chip you have, I can't tell you Personally I would only ever buy ASUS and GIGABYTE boards for overclocking
  8. I agree, but to give you more of an idea... To flash a BIOS essentially rewrites all the DATA stored on it and not only do you have to be able to boot to a flash drive, which you have to make yourself (as most dont have floppy anymore) you need the flash program which is propriatory to the BIOS used phoenix for example is phlash. the code needs to be written specifically for the chip, and you also need the original BIOS file to be flashed first, before a newer one is used. If HP have released BIOS updates then fine, use that but it wont include any additional OC options in it, as this invalidates the warranty I write my own BIOS flash mods for my servers, and I am telling you I would not recommend what you are trying to do
  9. Hi, Each file type requires the relevant or a program capable of opening them .cct is a macromedia format (adobe) so if the program required has been removed then yes you will get an error message, install Adobe reader and flash again from the Adobe site:- Adobe - United Kingdom
  10. Have you worded this wrong? A DVD burner can write a DVD, but you need a DVD drive to read it. You also have to set the first boot device in the BIOS to CD/DVD in order for it to run...
  11. Check that all the case wires are in the correct orientation (+ and -) and pins on the Motherboard If you are unsure then have a look in the Motherboard manual Case wires attach at the bottom right of the Motherboard if the MOBO is sat in a case
  12. Hi and welcome to FPCH :)
  13. Hi, Can you get the Motherboard make and model please and PSU wattage if possible ?
  14. Who originally configured the router and is a security/passphrase in place?
  15. I can talk you though it, or delve in yourself and sort the cable management (look in my profile and there are many images of what to do)
  16. The issue with setting up RAID is that the drivers need to be installed at the F6 stage of the OS install (especially if an OS is being used on the RAID set) You need to find and buy a PCI sata card unless you have RAID sata ports on the MOBO. You can pick up SATA raid cards on ebay for about £5-10 and you then just wait for the BIOS to load, and the SATA card BIOS will come up and tell you to press some keys (silicon image is F2 or ALT and 2 from memory) You then build the RAID array and then install the OS, making sure that you load the drivers at the F6 stage of the installation process (which HAS to be done via floppy disk)
  17. I would use the create an Audio CD as opposed to a jukebox CD then you just search for the file, add it to the burn list and then call it what you like, select the optical drive and then hit the burn button and it will spit the CD out when completed
  18. Are you using a laptop or a desktop? From what you have said I take it this is dial up and you dont have a router?
  19. Also after following Jelly Bean' advice, most GPUs have more than one VGA/DVI connection on the back, make sure that you are using the one on the left (if you are looking at the PC from the back) Let us know how you get on
  20. Now you have completely lost me. A router/modem can be connected to a PC via a USB or Ethernet (I personally would only ever use Ethernet)
  21. The 4 ports will be USB - you need to use an Ethernet to connect to the router. NICs are just PCI add in cards and just literally slot in. (do it yourself)
  22. And you havent changed anything since ? I would say that the drive is dead, open control panel and then system then device manager - any yellow exclamations?
  23. Hi, Have you used the disks in the drive before and it worked ok? Normally if an optical drive us dead then it wont spin up/down and you would hear it doing either
  24. Couple of things to check:- * Replace the Ethernet cable that you connect with to the PC that was working * If there are more than one Ethernet ports on the MOBO back - try the other (you may have had it in one and when moving the PC connected to the other) Failing that then the NIC (Network Card) could have come loose or been damaged
  25. The problem with things like this is without actually being there it is VERY hard to see what is going on. Have you changed anything in the router? Do you know if the router is acting as a DHCP server - there will be a STATUS page on the router page that will tell you. Do you know if you are required to add the MAC address of any wireless devices to access your wireless
