  1. Hello Glorifindel. As Snow said, that will only work when you have certain programs installed which support the feature and then too, it can only be used a limited number of times. What I mean to say is that unlike a drive, a DVD will allow files to be written but not deleted like a normal drive would do. If you want that much space and those features, you would be much better off investing in a flash drive like Snow suggested. They are small, ubiquitous and much more efficient and safer than DVD drives. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  2. No problem Steve. Please ask if you have any more questions. Thats what I am here for. :) -- Goku
  3. Hello Steve. After you have been infected with backdoor Trojans like these, the surest and only way to secure yourselves completely is to start over. If this is not feasible, then I would refrain from performing any confidential transactions on the infected computer. The piece of software that you suggest looks legitimate and probabvly works too, by the looks of it, but I would not trust it blindly just to have it betray me. But the program is outrageously overpriced considering the services it offers. I am sure the security experts can help you rid of the remnants if your friend is willing. They should at least be able to safe guard your computer so that no further data is leaked to the hacker. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  4. Yep, an allluring monster, isn't it? :D -- Goku
  5. Hello Volcano. Are you using any documents / files / applications present on the drive when attempting the Format? Also, a silly question, but its a removable disk right? -- Goku

  8. Hello Aminda. From your description, I assume that you have already tried the registry fix for the problem. However it might be well worth following the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article. Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs Also, you might have a better chance of getting it fixed by using the Fix it button prescribed by Microsoft. Let us know how it turns out. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  9. You are off your rocker mate. :D Here, legally means officially. -- Goku
  10. Hello Quacker. I think you want to sign up to one of the email service providers so that you can retain a permanent account. That is quite simple. All you have to do is choose a email service provider, click on the sign up link and then enter your information and preferred email ID. To simplify things, I am listing some email service providers that you might want to use. You can use or all of them but that will just complicate matters further. I would advise, that you have at least two accounts so that you can use one as your primary email address which you could use for trusted contacts and transaction purposes and the other one as your secondary email address, which you can use when signing up at various sites. This is just a suggestion though, you can easily have as many email addresses as you see fit. :) IN Yahoo! Gmail Hotmail Rediff Mail There are many more but these one are the best and most reliable. Also, they are widely known so they should be acceptable on most sites and Forums. They also provide an import wizard so you should be able to import all your existing contacts and information into your new account and an announce feature which means you can update all your contacts to your new email address with a single click. Just use the one that suits you best. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku

  18. Hello Wolfey. Cornelius appears to have recovered a past remnant of a program that is residing in the MFT sector through a recovery program. There is nothing unusual about it and this is a common query as users want to clean the past files and programs so that they are rendered unrecoverable. Cornelius, to remove that particular piece of data and other ghost items, you can use the nifty little utility called CCleaner. Install the program and open it. Check all the items you want to remove and especially the last box that says Wipe Free Space and press the Run Cleaner button. If you want advanced security, you can go to the Settings tab under Options and select the Secure Deletion method. Please note that the process may take some time depending upon the type of deletion method selected and the size of your hard drive(s). And stay away from the Registry section of the program as it can seriously mess up things unless used with caution. Feel free to ask back if you did not understand anything or found my instructions vague. We will be happy to sort you out. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  19. Thanks for the solution Ghost. It will undoubtedly come in handy. -- Goku
  20. Hello Kit. Please do exactly as Wolfey says and you should have a set of recovery discs to yourself. Another benefit of this method will be that it will back up your existing applications and settings and can thus serve as a reliable backup in the future. For detailed instructions on how to do so, please go here. If you have already exhausted that option or cannot do it for some reason, you might want to consider buying a set of recovery discs to do the task. In that case, please look here for more information. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
  21. Hello Pug. How did you conclude that the account was created by a virus? By default, there is a hidden Administrator account that is created at the time of installation of Windows. It might be that you recently stumbled across it or a virus simply made it visible. Please read the below article to know more about this. How to login as Administrator in Windows XP? Let us know if it helps or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku
