  5. Hi, After receiving the final release of build 17134.1 I have noticed that the size of folders on both of my drives are less than the actual size inside. I had this issue before when I tried the insider build of this version, but reverted back to the previous version as this is a fairly big bug for me, and assumed it would be fixed/ noticed by the time of public release. When reverting back to the previous version, the folder size returned to normal. I'm thinking it's a bug with the calculation of the size as when deleting a folder, the true size is noticed (e.g. removing 100GBs of data), yet when navigating to the folder's properties the size is calculated wrongly (e.g. only 60GBs) Sorry for the lack of technical information, aTOM19 More...
  6. I logged in this morning to find Windows 10 had ran updates last night, I found my link to Active Directory Users and Computers (dsa.msc) was broken and the file removed. I went into Control Panel to add it back in through "Turn Windows features on or off" but found RSAT was completely removed. I contacted Microsoft Tier 1 Chat support (Roland G) and was told "Roland G: Okay and I would like to inform you that remote desktop services is no longer available in Windows 10. Roland G: It will not work in windows 10 Me: remote server manager services? Roland G: Yes" In disbelief I continued searching online, going back to the RSAT download page (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45520) I found it lists windows 10 as being supported (**Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 can be installed ONLY on computers that are running the full release of Windows 10 Professional, Windows 10 Enterprise, or Windows 10 Education.** ) so I downloaded and installed it again. Now everything is back to normal. I hope this saves someone some time! More...

  10. I stupidly and unknowingly tried to use the "Create a new pool and storage space" function on just my single hard drive. When I initially used my hard drive, I only had the single space, no partitions. I then tried to use this "new pool" function that is under Settings > System > Storage > Manage Storage Spaces, thinking that it would do something else. Being that I only had one disk in the pool, it said "Failed to create a pool". Fine, I thought. Then I noticed that my hard drive was not listed under This PC in the File Explorer, and I have no idea how to find it (I had originally called it ':Z'). I can't assign any saved files to that partition, either. Under the Disk Management window, the 931 unused GB of the original 1 TB hard drive are listed under Disk 1 as "Unallocated". The Disk is online. But the original ':Z' space is nowhere to be found. That partition does not appear in the upper part of the window, where you would see the columns: "Volume, Layout, Type, File System", etc. I have made a new ':Y' partition of 500 GB temporarily for use, though I still need access to the old files in the missing ':Z' volume. Any help would be monumentally appreciated, though I understand that the issue is not too clear. I don't even really know what I did. The pool function returning an error should, in my mind, have left the original storage space unchanged. Thank you. More...

  12. Hi, I have a trouble shutting down my Dell Latitude E6510 laptop after upgrade from Win10 1709 to Win10 1803. The Windows "Shut down" command only shuts down the system but not the computer - the fans, led lights, screen backlight etc. remain on. I disabled Fast Boot and it didn't help. The Bios is updated to the newest version available. The PC uses i7 Q720 Intel processor for which there's no Intel Management Engine Interface available (there's obviously no point in trying to downgrade it). Would You have any suggestions? Thanks a lot. More...

  21. Dear all, as we deploy more and more workstations with Windows 10 Pro (Build 1803) I want the users to have the same SSO experience as they currently have with Windows 7. Unfortunately I can't get SSO to work with Edge. I already added several entries to the ADFSProperties like Edge/, Edge/17 and =~Windows\s*NT.*Edge but still Edge keeps asking for credentials. I also tried "Set-ADFSProperties -ExtendedProtectionTokenCheck None" (is this even necessary and secure?) but to no avail. I sure also restarted the ADFS services. Any hint what I could be missing? Where could I have a look at (logs or similar) to maybe find out why the SSO challenge seems to fail? Strangely we have one workstation with build 1703 where SSO works. More...
  22. Hope to be fine here with this question. It is about Windows 10 2018 March operating on physical machine. It hosts Oracle Virtualbox Hypervisor with two Debian virtual machines on top of stack. Virtual machines want to get quite periodic updates (patches, fixes, security updates and so on). Quite every day except for weekends there are new updates. Currently they go through V.B. NAT network to Internet to fetch updates. Regarding generated traffic it is of double amount as each of two v.machines fetches same updates for itself separately. So to reduce the load of internet connection the idea is to setup on WSL cache-proxy for Debian package management used on virtual machines for package management. The choice is apt-cacher-ng, it acts as proxy dpkg system clients however shows extended cache capabilities regarding downloaded packages. Two Debian virtual machines should connect to Debian servers through apt-cacher-ng, latter one operating within WSL. What level of feasibility might be this goal? Can anyone immediately see any technical points doing this goal unreachable? In some WSL document, side myself found one time short notice WSL was not good for server application. Actually a proxy is no server so from this point of view no conflict. I am not sure if generally there are cons to be considered in current planning phase. Apt-Cacher-NG User Manual More...

  24. Hello! We have several system, which sporadically (about 1 in 10 tries) get a bluescreen when the touch screen is first touched on the windows logon screen (when "pushing" to screen up to reveal the password box). We have updated Windows, the graphics drivers and the touch screen drivers to the newest versions with no luck, and are a little stumped. How would we troubleshoot this situation? We have uploaded a minidump of this crash to https://we.tl/t-SqeucyZZuw. Note that this minidump may not reflect the driver updates, but nothing changed after performing them. A first WinDbg analysis follows. Thank you and kind regards Jens Microsoft ® Windows Debugger Version 10.0.17134.1 X86 Copyright © Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. 25. Hello, I use Windows 8 on my laptop, and my external HDD got encrypted with BitLocker out of the blue. I have never used BitLocker, I do not even have it on my laptop (Control Panel does not show any icon for BitLocker & forums say it is only available with Windows 8 Pro). Therefore, I have no idea why Windows has locked my HDD, and I have no means of recovering this as I do not have any recovery key or password (since I have never used BitLocker in the first place). Please help. Thanks, Jignasha More...
