Hello Carlos, Welcome back! You don't give us much to go on really. If the crash only occurs with this one piece of software and not at any other time it is reasonable to assume it it the game and not the PC. If this is a store bought game, I would suggest you return it as defective or go to the games web site and look for a patch. On the other hand, if you are having other problems with other games then it is time to explore other possible causes. Are there any other problems?

These are all good suggestions, alternate, but how are you doing with the initial problem that caused you to start this thread? Have you been able to run the full disinfection process? -
Welcome to FPCH Toobleu! We have a good record for improving literacy so you have come to the right place. I hope you enjoy it here.

windows/system32/config/system- XP
BeeCeeBee replied to Quacker's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Just looking back at the thread. You may have go go into safe mode and either allow it to find the new drive or add it in control panel. On the other hand if it is a simple usb external it may just recognise it from the start. -

I would try the cheap route then and borrow the external drive and hope that it is recognised. -
PC keeps rebooting - even in safe mode
BeeCeeBee replied to Jules75's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
All you need to do is boot the machine from the CD. It is possible that we may have to go to set up in your bios and change the sequence but we will face that when we come to it. Hopefully you are already set for the CD to be the first in the sequence. Keep in mind that this will not cure your infection problem, it will only get you back into your machine (hopefully.) -

There are a number of issues here. There is no doubt that you are infected and need to do something about it. You can't do that without being able to get into the PC. There is also the chance that your hard drive is failing which may account for the progressive slowdown. If this happens from the minute you start up in the day, it is not likely that it is overheating but that remains a possibliy. First you need to get a recovery disk for the XP machine. You will find one here, http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/downloads/4255-windows-xp-recovery-console.html It must be burned as an image to a disk. You can also use a flash drive if your PC allows it but at 5 years old that is doubtful. If you can give us the make and model we may be able to check that for you. -

Do you have access to a cd rom drive to burn a disk? -
PC keeps rebooting - even in safe mode

Can we rule out a few hardware issues just to be on the safe side. How old is this machine and when was it last cleaned? Do the fans seem to be working abnormally fast or, perhaps the opposite? Do you hear any odd sounds such as clicking when you are trying to run the machine? Finally, do you know if your PC allows for a boot sequence starting with USB? -
Welcome to FPCH Jules. Hope we can help you! Hope you can help us!

Since it appears you can get into safe mode, try the command prompt method of getting and using system restore. If that works you will need to disinfect the PC ASAP! How to start the System Restore tool by using the safe mode option with the Command prompt in Windows XP Let us know if this works, if not we will look deeper. -
Can I add an a keyboard to laptop
BeeCeeBee replied to jet0703's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
There are two important steps to attaching a keyboard to a laptop. 1. Buy or procure a keyboard (USB) 2. Plug the Keyboard into the laptop. Practice that a few times and it will become second nature :D Seriously if the keyboard has some features beyond the standard you may have to install some software that will come with it. If you fail to do this it will behave --well, like a keyboard without any special features. -

windows/system32/config/system- XP
BeeCeeBee replied to Quacker's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Does that mean that you can get into safe mode? If so copy everything to an external hard drive and then at least that will be one worry gone. There is no need to get a fresh copy of XP if you can find the actual disk for that PC. If it does come to a format and re installation, you will have to download all critical updates including service pack 3. There is no need to uninstall as the formatting will take care of that. Unless there is something wrong with the hard drive there is no reason to replace it unless you cannot get the data from it. But perhaps all of this is putting the horse before the cart. Exactly what error message are you getting when you try to boot up and when does it appear? -

BeeCeeBee replied to alternate's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
If you got the programs while in safe mode, and you have installed SUPERspyware in normal mode. (required) Then go back to safe mode and run the procedure from there. My system is seriously messing up! please help!
BeeCeeBee replied to alternate's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
That is not an option for posting alternate. I have removed your email address for your own security. There are automated programs that go through forums looking for email addresses. Please try to download the program in safe mode with networking. (Just reboot and slowly tap on F8 as the machine begins to show the first screen. You should be led to a black page with the choices available. Just scroll through.) -

Try finishing up the Norton uninstall with this: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool Then, if you can try uninstalling Zone Alarm and try the program from scratch. Once the 3 programs are installed and updated you do not need to be on the internet until you get to the eset scan. Try downloading and installing them all without scanning before you run the proceedure. -
Probably not a coincidence in total. I am thinking that if there was no dust buildup the extra heat from the radiator would probably go unnoticed. However with dust clogs allowing a heat build up every little bit extra makes it that much worse. Clear it out and move it away from the radiator they are dust catchers anyway

Hi Dougie, To simplify things a bit, since you can only view one photo at a time in its enlarged state it really doesn't matter very much. However, as I understand, as long as the source photo is larger than the trumbnail, it will all look pretty uniform on your profile. Mine were from all different sources.

Hi new member with an xp problem
BeeCeeBee replied to daktariSA's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Sorry I missed a post above. Forget the 1394 connection it is not involved. The red X through your LAN indicates that it is there and disabled. Probably not a driver issue with that. The Lan allows you to connect to your router with an ethernet cable. You can easily enable it by right clicking. Again, assuming that you had wireless internet before, the device is there and the drivers are not.- 67 replies

BeeCeeBee replied to daktariSA's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
It is quite possible that the drivers are missing for the device. If you see no wireless network connection and you have used it before then it must have gone with the new install. Try following RandyL's link above or give us the exact model number and we should be able to locate the drivers for it.- 67 replies

Just right click on the little monitor icon down near the clock on your task bar and select "open network connections" (not view) If the manual is any good it should show you how to set it up.- 67 replies
