Oh well, it was worth asking as there are some problems with comodo and rundll issues. In all probability this is a result of a malware infection. I would suggest that you follow the following procedure, it is generally effective and specifically has cures rundll problems for other members. Some internet connectivity is required, if you cannot download programs please read the following before you try the procedure. http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/malware-removal-av-firewalls-etc/5629-malware-disinfection-limited-no-internet-access.html Your computer appears to be infected with Malware. Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a combination of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. It is in your best interest to note the following: Please disable your resident security applications (such as AVG, Spybot, WinPatrol, etc.) before performing the below procedure so that they do not interfere with the process. Perform all the steps in the order listed to avoid any conflicts. If unsure, please stop and voice your doubts. You might be required to go offline during the disinfection process. Therefore, it is recommended to print off the instructions below for ease of reference. If you stick to the above guidelines, all should go smoothly. ================================================ STEP 1 Download ATF-Cleaner by Atribune. Save the file to your Desktop. Re-enable all your security applications and please return here and tell us how the computer seems to be operating. Without more information it would be difficult to say if this is an overheating problem but from what you describe it sound more like a malware infection. Do you get the blue screen when you start the machine after it has been shut down for a long period of time? Do your fans seem to be operating properly?

music running in the back ground

Did you check the blocker for exceptions? I assume you are telling us about the laptop because it is not happening on the laptop? Did you check for sound events related to the browser on the machine in question? If it only happens to one user on one machine you can probably rule out internet settings but not browser setting. Exactly what security measure protect the machine and what scans have you done? -
My PC won't start up either!
BeeCeeBee replied to Polorky's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Ok we will need to know a bit about the machine. What make and model is it and what, if any, changes have you made to it? The next step is for you to restart the pc and press the Del key on startup. This should take you to the bios. Please report back if that is successful or not. Do not attempt to make changes. If you cannot see the bios, I suspect that you may have a defective motherboard or other hardware issue. I am not the one to tell you this but the information is needed by those who can. -

Agreed! It isn't good. Can we first establish how old this machine is and is it subject to any warranty? The last thing we would want is to give you advice that would lead to voiding any rights you may have. -
Welcome Craig, of course you can always encourage your father to join Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help and then he can ask us!!! :)

How to restore from C:\RECYCLER?
BeeCeeBee replied to Fortwilliam's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
This ends now! You do not have to accept the opinion offered by anyone. Wolfeymole may have been adamant but he was not rude. I expect it to be kept that way. -

Windows startup sounds do not come until much later so that is not much cause for concern. The fact that you are getting nothing, not even a manufacturers screen is a cause for concern. The first thing to try is always safe mode. When your PC starts up slowly tap the F8 key and see if a black screen with choices comes up. At that point you should first try "Last known good configuration." If that doesn't work then try "safe mode." If neither works or you dont get the screen at all let us know. -

Frankly I didnt know that the restriction existed but I can see a point as to the why. Some attachments require a lot of work by our staff and members . Some guests are not guests at all but automated "bots" trolling the site for useful information. We cant control everything but at least we can do our best to protect our and your work product. It is for this same reason that we remove email addresses from member's posts.

music running in the back ground
BeeCeeBee replied to sallysaltpot's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
This is just a stab in the dark at what is clearly a strange occurrence, but do you have your "pop up blocker" enabled? If not enable it and see if that stops the music. You will find the "pop up blocker" under Tools in Internet Explorer. If it is enabled then open pop up blocker settings and see if there are any exceptions. Note what they are and remove them. Has it stopped now? Also, help4me has pointed out the reason for her question and it makes good sense. I have enabled a little click sound when I navigate. Please look in your sound settings in control panel and see if you have any events that carry sounds for your browser. If you do make sure it is not the music that you are hearing. Sound events can be set to anything that is already on your computer. -
My HP Laptop Uninstalled all Programmes
BeeCeeBee replied to kayaker's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Go to your "My Computer" icon and right click. Select "explore" and then "Local Disk C." Click on program files. If they are hidden select view these files or view all files. (You may have to run as an administrator.) Change nothing but simply click to open the various program folders and make sure that the folders actually contain the program files. I repeat, change nothing, just close the folders and let us know what you have found. -
Assuming that you cannot get into safe mode, what can you tell us besides the make and model? What operating system is it supposed to have? Do you have any disks at all? What did the beeps sound like? (long, short, how many, etc.?) Did it ever work for your friend? How much ram did you pull out and what is left?

Are you certian that your PC meets the minimum specs for the game, Allison?

Actually, its easier than the drive update and about the same as the Ram sticks in terms of difficulty. -

Assuming you are talking about a PCI wireless card, as long as you are reasonably comfortable with going into your PC they are pretty straightforward. Every motherboard will have available PCI Slots and you need only seat the card into the slot. You must, of course, make sure about compatibility issued but that should not be a big problem. -

Do you have your Office disks available to you? -
Gav it seems there are 2 issues, what drivers are you using in general and what is causing your inability to get internet access. They may be related since your drivers may just be the generic ones that are part of XP. Please go to your device manager (Right click on "My Computer"> Select "manage" and then device manager. Expand everything (click on the + mark in the small box) and tell us if there a are any warnings posted (?s or !s etc.) Pay particular attention to network adapters. Let us know what you find.
