  1. I am no expert on reading hijack this logs but it seems that you have loaded your pc with so many downloaders, toolbars, etc that it just seems inevitable that you are going to keep getting this kind of problem. I am sure others will have comments on the specifics. What is your purpose for using Daemon tools?
  2. Merry Christmas Mara, Bob said you'd like his joke. I hate it when he is right. Cuddle up with a warm moose and enjoy. :)
  3. Well in truth struggling, it really is a pleasure to see this one solved. While I really appreciate the compliment and take it to heart, there are people on Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help who could put all that I know and hide it in a back pocket somewhere. I have learned what I do know from them which, I hope, simply proves that Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help is the place to be. Marry Christmas Struggling and regards Barry
  4. OK really easy to do. Many very short steps In new account. 1. Open My documents to full size. 2. Since I assume you already have my music and my pics saved. Delete the new ones that are in My documents. 3. Minimize My Documents 4. Put your memory stick into the usb port 5. Go to My computer and open it. 6. Open the memory stick. 7. If the documents are in a My documents folder on the stick open the folder. 8. Maximize the My Documents again in the new file 9. have the memory stick folder smaller then the My documents folder. 10 click on edit on top and select all. 12 drag one file into the new my documents file and if select all has worked all the files will follow. Let me know how you make out.
  5. Struggling, I think you are missing the point. You were not supposed to find your old documents there you have to put them there. The fact that you have a My Documents Folder and that you were able to save a new document into it means that this fix has worked. :) What you need to do is copy all of your old documents into the new account My Documents Folder and once you are sure everything is stable remove both the user and owner accounts. HINT: When you try to move your old my music or my pictures files you will be told that a "file by that name already exist do you want to overwrite "or something to that effect. You would have to say yes. In order to avoid this message simply delete "my Music" and "my Pictures" from the new my documents folder and the old ones will transfer seamlessly.
  6. Most programs have their own menu for having their application run at start up. Having too much of that is an invitation to your PC to slow down. I would suggest you evaluate your needs and stick only with what is necessary.
  7. Thank you struggling. For your information you do not have 2 separate hard drives you have only 1 divided into 3 partitions. That knowledge, however will not solve your problem. Hopefully we have a simple solution. Go into Control Panel and then go to User Accounts. Click on set up a new account and follow the basic directions. Please do not name the new account either user or owner. Your own name seems appropiate. When it prompts make sure you set it up as an administrator. Then I want you to log off where you are and go into the new account. Try saving anything to my documents and make sure it works. Hopefully we can avoid anything drastic. Come back when you are done and we will finish this up :D (maybe)
  8. I am afraid that your request cannot by honored for the very reason that you asked. You have been given ample advice and even warnings about the use of this kind of software. You have elected to ignore those cautions and download encryption software. Now you want the staff and members of Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help to teach you how to use it despite the advice given. You have no obligation to follow advice sought here, but, a bit of nerve to ask FPCHelp to stick out our necks to help you ignore it. I just wonder what your reaction would be if you follow any such help and your system crashes.
  9. Dear Mr. L. As indicated these negotiations have been continuing for many centuries and cannot and will not be influenced by your parochial concerns. These same issue were raised by one of your predecessors in July of 1975 and we extracted an agreement (strike that) we all agreed that this was in the best interest of Peace on Earth. We were able to convince Mr. Hoffa then and we are equally sure we can show you the error of your ways. Since it is December 24 and the merger is not to become official until the new year there still is time to discuss this. We have scheduled a high level meeting to take place at our board room located in the end zone of the new Giants Stadium being built in the Meadowland in New Jersey. You know the one that will replace the old one built in 1975. Please be there. Thank you Beeceebee enforcer err - negotiator P.S. Come alone! We know where you live.
  10. Thanks Bob and the same to you and all around you. Take a photo or two to share. :)

  13. IAPro.exe appears to be a virus masquerading as an antivirus program. What do you mean you can't do anything? That covers quite a lot. In any event I suggest you follow the steps below carefully and let us know how things stand when you are finished. Your computer could be infected with Malware. Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a combination of the words malicious and software. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code. Required Cleanup Steps Disable the Spybot Search & Destroy TEA TIMER if you use it and if it is enabled Run a Temporary file and cache cleaner (ATF) Run 2 Anti-Malware scanners (Listed Below) Run an Online Anti-Virus / Anti-Malware Scanner (Listed Below) Clear out old System Restore points If continued Malware type activity is present you may be asked to post a TrendMicroâ„¢ HijackThisâ„¢ Log file, do not do so unless requested. The reason to run multiple scanners is to ensure that no single scanner is missing something. The time it takes will vary depending on your system and your internet connection speed. Typically the SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes scanners will take between 10 to 90 minutes. The ESET online scan should take between 1 to 3 hours. In most cases, these scans will suffice to clean and disinfect your computer. Heavily infected systems or slower PCs can take much longer to scan and clean. For best results print the following instructions and bookmark this Web page To keep this guide printer-friendly, use your cursor to highlight the contents below. From your browser select File - Print and in the printer dialog box under "Print range" click the Selection choice to print out these instructions for removal of malware. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/FPCH/Malware%20Guide/printer-selection.gif ____________________________________________ STEP 1 Disable Spybot Search & Destroys' TEA TIMER: (if installed, if not go to Step 2) Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode. On the Top Left select the Scan your computer button. Make sure there is a CHECK MARK on all Fixed Drives. Click "Perform a Complete Scan". Click "Next" to Repair issues found and reboot the computer when prompted to do so. __________________________________________________ STEP 4 Install and run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Malwarebytes - (direct download) Accept all defaults for the installer Allow the program to update the definitions Click on the Quick Scan and click Next. If any items are found allow it to clean them and then Reboot your computer. __________________________________________________ STEP 5 Run an online scan with ESET from Free Virus Scan: Use ESET's Online Antivirus Scanner You must use Internet Explorer for this online scan. FireFox, Opera, etc will not work for this scan. If your computer is running Window's Vista, then you must first start Internet Explorer as an Administrator. To do so, right-click on the Internet Explorer icon in the Start Menu and select "Run as administrator" from the popup context menu. Accept the terms and click "Start". If required this is the download link for TrendMicroâ„¢ HijackThisâ„¢ Unless instructed to by the Technician helping you then do not download this tool. Once you and the Technician agree that your system appears to be clean then you should delete all your System Restore points and recreate a new one. Please follow the instructions here How to turn off and turn on System Restore in Windows XP How to turn off and turn on System Restore in Windows Vista
  14. Continuing the current trend of large-scale mergers and acquisitions, it was announced today at a press conference that Christmas and Hanukkah will merge. An industry source said that the deal had been in the works for about 1300 years. While details were not available at press time, it is believed that the overhead cost of having twelve days of Christmas and eight days of Hanukkah was becoming prohibitive for both sides. By combining forces, we''re told, the world will be able to enjoy consistently high-quality service during the Fifteen Days of Chrismukah, as the new holiday is being called. Massive layoffs are expected, with lords a-leaping and maids a-milking being the hardest hit. As part of the conditions of the agreement, the letters on the dreydl (a spinning top toy), currently in Hebrew, will be replaced by Latin, thus becoming unintelligible to a wider audience. Also, instead of translating to "A great miracle happened there," the message on the dreydl will be the more generic "Miraculous stuff happens." In exchange, it is believed that Jews will be allowed to use Santa Claus and his vast merchandising resources for buying and delivering their gifts . One of the sticking points holding up the agreement for at least three hundred years was the question of whether Jewish children could leave milk and cookies for Santa even after having eaten meat for dinner. A breakthrough came last year, when Oreos were finally declared to be Kosher. All sides appeared happy about this. A spokesman for Christmas, Inc., declined to say whether a takeover of Kwanzaa might not be in the works as well. He merely pointed out that, were it not for the independent existence of Kwanzaa, the merger between Christmas and Chanukah might indeed be seen as an unfair cornering of the holiday market. Fortunately for all concerned, he said, Kwanzaa will help to maintain the competitive balance. He then closed the press conference by leading all present in a rousing rendition of "Oy Vey, All Ye Faithful." AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!!
  15. Thank goodness for that! Now put it somewhere far away from that machine of yours. When you did your our malware program did you have McAfee running at the same time? In preperation for whatever comes next I would suggest the following: 1. Uninstall that cd burning program that you are using. 2. Go to add or remove programs in control panel and uninstall any toolbars or other downloaded programs that you know you don't use. 3. Try the screenshot again. Go to start and right click on the my computer Icon that is right there. If you use the classic view then the icon on the desktop. A small menu should appear the 4th item down should say manage. (Open-explore-search-manage) once there you should have no problem finding the rest. You can also get to the screen by going to control Panel, administrative tools, computer management, and finally disk management on the left. Your account must be set as administrator for either path to work. I would also disable McAfee and run the whole malware program again. I know that is a pain but if it helps get rid of some of the mess it will be worth it. :)
  16. This is what I want you to do. Put the disk that may or may not contain documents into the disc drive. Put the memory stick in a working usb port. Go to my computer and right click on the icon click on MANAGE in the menu that appears. Look down the left side and click on Disk Managment Maximise and do a screen shot. If you can go back to the left side and click on removable strorage and do the same thing (screenshot) Post them both (the first is more important right now) and let us look.
  17. I assume that is your disc. Since D is the dvd/cd drive. Can you open it by clicking on it and see if the document are there? If you already have just tell me.
  18. Ill bet it came already on the computer (McAfee) and you registered on line with it etc. I don't particularly like McAfee but they are big and reputable.
  19. Struggling First are we at all sure that your documents are on these discs? I don't understand what you mean when you say you tested E drive etc. Please put the stick in a usb port, wait for the sound and then open my computer. Tell me what it shows, please. Indicate what it says for each drive starting with C
  20. Assuming that your XP Pro is licensed on the PC, where did the XP home come from? You may be creating some real problems for yourself.
  21. Just so we all remember why we are out looking for alternate games. Remember the Old Saying kick a ball not a bear. Poor thing!! http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/FPCH/monkey.png
  22. The file you have linked is a zip file. A Zip file is a compacted file that needs to be extracted (basically opened and put together into a usable file on your pc) I do not know if you have an extractor or (unzipper) on your PC. The best way to find out is go where the zip file is stored and open the folder containing it. Right click on the file itself. If you see the option to "extract with" or "extract here" you are probably ready to unzip the file. If you know where you want to keep the file that will be extracted you can select a destination. Othewise just selct extract here. If no such option exists you will have download one. Many members here recommend 7zip although I have not used it myself. It is freeware. 7-Zip I suspect that you do not have software to extract a zip file. I say this because when I clicked on the link it gave me a choice of saving or extract and run (open with.) My guess is that you have simply saved it somewhere.
  23. Welcome bindo!! New hands are always needed :) Hope you enjoy your time here!!
