1. Hi and welcome There is a lot of info here click here most of it may be a little complex to appreciate :) Is this a laptop or desktop ? Was Win7 the original Operating System ? EDIT: seems J-B has posted the same link :)
2. Hi - it is quite safe to have MBAM on your system as well as Norton. Let's just check with MBAM and see if there is anything there slowing your system down. If you have MBAM already open it > update > run it ( it is important to update ) It will produce a log. Copy this and post it here please. If you don't have it - download from here: click here (You want the FREE version) Run a quick scan - not the full one. I will be around all day - so check back regularly :) =========== Quick edit: Your free space is fine - when this gets to below 10% of the total disk space Windows starts to struggle.
3. Hi It may be worth un-installing the drivers and re-installing them again. If you don't have the installation disk the drivers are here: click here If you need more advice please ask :)
4. Hi What you have installed shouldn't really slow the machine down ...... apart ( possibly ) from Norton. What is the size of the hard drive on C: ? How much free space is there ? Start > Right click on C: > Properties. Is Norton paid for - or is it the "Free" pre-installed option ? It may be worth removing it and installing Microsoft Security Essentials ( free ) We can advise on this. Did you run Malwarebytes ? If so - did it find anything ?
5. Just to add confusion to the thread .... Take a look at DropBox ....... click here
6. Yep - I knew quite a few 18 year olds who could act like 5 year olds without really trying :) Try this : 4 year old playing piano I taught him all he knows :)
7. OK - unless you have hundreds of photos :) Thanks for posting back.
8. Hi and welcome to ExTS Pins bending ...... Are you sure that the new i7 is compatible with your motherboard socket ? Are the same pins bending each time? Which motherboard do you have ?
9. That's good to hear. Can you let us know what exactly solved your problem - it may help others :)
10. I suspect the video was released on April 1st :) He also said the you need electrical tape because it "conducts electricity" ........... nope ! He will make a good car salesman !! If this worked there would be some entrepreneur marketing the cable and making millions :)
11. Hi and welcome to ExTS Is this correct? Should it be Getuserinfo.exe ? ( as per J-B's link ) Download MBAM from here and install it: ( you want the free version ) click here Once installed > update it > Run it. It will produce a log - copy this and post it here please.
12. No comment :)
13. You mean you see Nev in your mirror ?? :)
14. In addition to what J-B has said I assume that we can close this thread ? click here
15. Hi and welcome to ExTS Please take note of J-B's advice. Windows comes with Internet Explorer as an integral part of the Operating System and you cannot delete it. ( you can delete updated versions but the system will resort to the original installed version once you do.)
16. That should sort it :) It does depend what you are doing ....... as I said 512Mb is not quite enough ...... again ... depends what you use the system for.
17. Hi and welcome to ExTS Please answer J-B's question re "Beeps". =============== It doesn't matter as far as compatibility goes. Let me explain. The Video Card has its own RAM and its own processor. The 32 bit / 64 bit associated with the card itself is not related to the Operating System and does not need to comply. In other words - a Video Card that says "64 bit" will work on a 32 bit system as the "64 bit" on the card is simply a measure of how fast the data can be transferred between the card RAM and the graphics processor. Back to your problem ... The Video Cards that you have - providing that they fit in the slot ......should work. Do you have on-board video? If so - take whichever card is in the slot out and connect the monitor to the on-board connection. Switch on. Do you get anything on screen now ?
18. Un-check the box - see if that helps. ================ Did you delete IE8 and re-install ?
19. My mum used to say "Two wrongs don't make a right" ................ certainly does in this case :)
20. I don't recall a "Video" thread as such ...... Nev started one on "Animation" click here By the way ........ interesting choice of foot-ware in the last vid :)
21. XP runs best with 1GB or more of RAM. It depends what you have on the machine and what you are using it for. Did you have to change the option to "System Managed" ?
22. Hi Quirkie How much RAM do you have in your machine ? Virtual Memory is not specifically linked with RAM but if you don't have enough you could get this message popping up. To check the V-M ....

1. Open System in Control Panel.

2. On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

3. On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.

4. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.

You are best advised to have this set to "System Managed".
23. I am just outside Heswall :) Even more weird .....I bought a book on eBay and the seller lived in the next road to me !! Nev has explained about exporting favourites :) Have you got it set to auto-delete cookies when you close ?
24. Have you tried disconnecting the Sky phone connection from the back of the box ? My sister checked out my line ( she works for BT ) when I had Sky and it definitely was a problem. Sky deny this ( of course ) !!
25. Hi, This is taken from the system specs for your machine. You are right - 2GB is the max for your motherboard. The standard for the m/board is PC2700 but the PC2100 will be OK What will happen is - the machine will run at the slower speed ( ie that of the PC2100 ) You will not notice too much difference I don't think.
