  1. Hi Ian The ISO download can be found here: click here Please make sure that the version you select is exactly the same as the installed one. It may be that the crashing is due to hardware and not the installed software. Do you get an error message when it crashes ? Blue screen ?
  2. Hi Ian You could take a look here: click here It is possible to do this yourself: The drivers are usually stored in the following location ... C:\Windows\System32 .......sub-folders Drivers, DriverStore and possibly DRVSTORE. You may find this useful too click here ============ Regarding daughter's laptop I can direct you to a free download of win7 if necessary. What exactly is the problem?
  3. I have read through this thread again and we have only suggested the use of CCleaner and Revo-Uninstaller. Both of these are well known and trusted pieces of software. I doubt very much that your pop-up problems and the virus ( if you have one ) have come from our recommendations. In post 20 you said: You then listed a series of links to software that nobody here had heard of - and didn't recommend. If you have tried any of these then I would suggest that this is where your pop-up and virus problem has originated.
  4. This problem is not related to your hard drive. I can explain how to do this if you wish. Still with your Win8 problem: Is this version of Win8 the one you had on your machine when you bought it ? How old is the machine?
  5. I'm sorry - you have lost me here. I am not sure what you are asking. Where do you have the image saved ? I can understand that you do not wish to go back to the original settings but unless somebody else has any ideas it may be your only option.
  6. Hi H-B-E You can't be accused of being a creep for stating what is obviously a known fact. [i am going to get some stick over that :) :) )
  7. If the drive is clicking then it does sound as if it has died. The clicking is actually the read head skipping over the disk and hitting up against a stop. It is trying to locate data - and failing. Freezing will not make this any worse. It is worth a try - sometimes it works ...... more often than not it doesn't.
  8. Hi, Simple question - does the flash drive have a physical "write protect" switch ? ( some do )
  9. Hi You have an problem with System Restore and also Refresh your PC. The Metro Apps don't work either. I don't suppose that you have an image of your hard drive do you ?
  10. Hi and welcome to ExTS Please post the latest MBAM log. If you open MBAM ( Malwarebytes ) and click on the Logs tab ............. the latest logs are dated there. If you click on it - it will open in Notepad. Copy this and post it here please. Pup.ibryte is a "Possibly Unwanted Programme" ....... not definite malware. If this is all that it found we will probably need to try something else. ============= When you say that you bought a new keyboard - was this a replacement or external USB keyboard? If replacement try tapping the comma key over and over. If you have not tried an external keyboard - does the same thing happen when using that ?
  11. http://royharbin.tripod.com/picfile_01/thumbnails/400x300/tophole.jpg Looks like J-B has been here !!
  12. Just been round to my son's. He has had fibre optics fitted today. Download = 80+ Mb/s !! That is with BT.
  13. Hi Yep - looks like the motherboard is toast. Yes - no problem. You will be able to access files / photos etc but programs will not run. You need to buy a 3.5 inch caddy ( there are 2.5 inch ones for laptop drives ) Also you need to know what connections your hard drive has ( SATA or IDE ) IDE has a broad grey data cable connected to it ( 80 wires ) SATA has a narrow ( often red ) data cable. If still unsure take a look here: click here
  14. Some people just like showing off :)
  15. Quite happy to try to solve this if you wish to continue :) Happy to hear that everything else is OK :)
  16. If by "Microsoft Security you mean MS Essentials then you need to remove Avast if you have 2 AVs on your system Two AVs will conflict.
  17. I'm at a disadvantage as I don't use BT-Yahoo so cannot check this for you. Open your Browser, and sign in to BT Yahoo!. Select Browser Options from the Tools menu at the top of the Browser window. Have you signed in first before you click on Tools ? ( basic question - sorry ) Do you have BT Yahoo as your default browser ?
  18. No. The beep comes from the internal speaker ..... the volume turned down is only applicable when the system is running off the Operating System. If you are getting no beeps then this is down to either the PSU or the motherboard. (assuming you used to get one beep on start up ? ) If you can get hold of another PSU give this a try - it doesn't have to be the same wattage.
  19. Hi Ray I re-set mine to open smaller ( as you have ) then tried the solutions above. It was stuck and would not change - as you are experiencing. I had to repeatedly go over the process a number of times for it to change back. Give it a try :)
  20. Hi The drivers for your machine are here: ( These are all 32 bit - assume that 64 bit is not an option with your machine ) click here Download the ones you need to a memory stick and load them onto the problem machine from there.
  21. ......restored to factory settings ... I did suggest this as a last resort - it seems that you are worse off now. Post the make and model number of your computer please
  22. Thanks for the reminder of the "Black Toolbar" fix Ray :)
  23. That is good to hear :) I will mark this one as "Solved".
