  1. This is often hardware related .............. but can also be drivers. You don't have 2 Anti Virus software on your system do you ? ============ Navigate to the location above .... Just click on C: ....then Users ......Then Nick .....etc etc. It looks like a text file ...... Copy this and post it here please - it may help. ============== Try taking one of the RAM modules out and run on the other ( assuming you have 2 ) If you get the same problem - swap them over. Let us know the results. ============== I would still like to know the temperatures on your system if you can find them.
  2. My error - the temps show up on the initial screen - you don't have to click anything. Try Everest from here if Speccy is still a problem. click here
  3. This is usually listed under the General tab.
  4. Hi There is a thread on the Piriform site relating to this problem click here First time I have come across it. Try downloading revo uninstaller from here click here Scroll down a bit for the free version. Install it and run. It will list installed software - use this to uninstall Speccy Use the default setting and uninstall all related files etc Try re-installing Speccy again. I would like to know what the temperatures are. If this fails we can probably find a similar piece of software.
  5. Hi Have you installed any new hardware recently ? Have you installed any software too ? Boot up in Safe Mode with Networking. Download Speccy from here: click here. Install and run it. Post the reported temperatures after running for a while. Start > type in .....devmgmt.msc ...... ENTER click the + next to each device. Are there any yellow exclamation marks ?
  6. I have attached the log - it is a bit easier :) You definitely need assistance to remove the malware ..... please wait for starbuck to advise. ================ Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Trial) 1.70.0.1100 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: v2013.04.02.15 Windows 7 Service Pack 1 x64 NTFS Internet Explorer 10.0.9200.16521 alex_2 :: ME-PC [administrator] Protection: Enabled 03/04/2013 01:19:17 MBAM-log-2013-04-03 (01-40-02).txt Scan type: Quick scan Scan options enabled: Memory | Startup | Registry | File System | Heuristics/Extra | Heuristics/Shuriken | PUP | PUM Scan options disabled: P2P Objects scanned: 323082 Time elapsed: 17 minute(s), 26 second(s) Memory Processes Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Detected: 49 HKCR\CLSID\{258C9770-1713-4021-8D7E-1F184A2BD754} (Adware.ShoppingReport2) -> No action taken. 7. You are welcome John. Stick around - we all started knowing very little :)
  8. Hi and welcome to ExTS 1 long - 3 short beeps on Award does indicate what you suggest. It obviously is not recognising the fact that a video card is in the slot. Have you tried cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser ? Blow out the slot with a can of compressed air. Try removing the CMOS battery - leave for 1 minute - replace. This will reset the BIOS to defaults.
  9. hi John Norton would have disabled Defender. Take a look here at a tutorial I wrote to enable Defender click here
  10. Starbuck needs to see the MBAM log before he can assist any further :)
  11. Sorry - I have had no connection for 24 hours. If you decide on a Video Card let us know and we can suggest a suitable PSU for it :)
  12. Hi i5 CPU = good Intel HD graphics 4000 video = bad With this price laptop there is always a compromise - and in this case it is the on-board video. If you are serious about gaming you would get a far better spec desktop for the money.
  13. Now I understand :) Make sure that all is well with the re-install before you delete the Windows.old file. ( as you have recovery disks this is not that important ) This can be done using Disk Cleanup if you can't locate it. In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click Clean up system files.
  14. That's different. If the OS is exactly the same there should be no problem - as long as you use your own Product Code.
  15. I had my ridge tiles reseated and as a result I have a line of white mortar - the guys are supposed to be coming back to sort it but from what I have read the only effective method involves dilute acid and this, according to some sources, is not recommended. As you say - it will weather away eventually.
  16. This is your graphics "card" ........................actually it is an on-board chip. As such - it is not the best choice for gaming. You have a PCIx16 slot on that m/board so literally it is what you can afford. click here Prices here are in $$ If you do decide to upgrade you may need a new Power Supply Unit to power the card.
  17. Vr5fx ( or one of the other mods here ) is probably best equipped to answer this ....... but in my opinion it looks good. Not sure re. Win 8 ...... Win7 may be a better option ( he said typing this on Win 8 ) Please wait for further assistance before you decide to buy.
  18. You are already receiving assistance with this in another thread. The guys here are not on-line 24/7 ...........please be patient.
  19. Hi and welcome to ExTS We don't do this here - you have a question ...... we try to help. [ I have edited the title of your thread ..... some here may have been offended ] Have you tried Open Office ? click here This is free software and is compatible with Microsoft Office. There is a data base included.
  20. Hi Point your mouse curser to the top right corner of the screen > type in device manager into the search box. Click on Settings > Click on Device Manager Click the > next to Display Adapters What is listed ?
  21. Thanks - we are here to help if we can :)
  22. For gaming the Video Card and CPU are most important. You have 8GB RAM - which will be fine. Take a look at the link I gave you to see what you can get for your money. The prices shown are in $$ Make allowances for the PSU - we can advise on which one when you know which card you can afford. An i5 CPU would be better - but this would eat up the whole of your money.
  23. To build a gaming pc you are going to need about £600 - 700 Then you would want a screen on top ...... approx £100 - 150 Good Luck :)
  24. Hi again With that type of power supply you have no options and 65 Watts would not run the most basic of Graphics Cards. It really does look like you will need to start over with a new machine. I am not into gaming so would find it difficult to provide you with sound advice. If you can let us know what sort of budget you have somebody hear will be able to pick this up and make a few suggestions.
