  1. You wrote this earlier ( and the Crucial scan confirms the motherboard ) Your motherboard supports both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM. ( DDR3 is faster ) I don't know if you saw the full list of compatible RAM ? Click on "Show all Compatible Computer Memory" click here Take the part number and Google it if you want to find the UK equivalent.
  2. Hi and welcome to ExTS Was this at your mum's house ? Have you tried unplugging the router for 20 seconds or so then re-connect the power again to re-boot it ?
  3. Wishing all of our members a very Happy New Year London Fireworks http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0477_zps7d956c23.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0496_zps2644ef18.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0495_zps48b98676.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0493_zpscd9a1627.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0490_zpsc8c80df7.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0489_zps0de543ec.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0481_zps9f906c37.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0479_zps38cab1af.jpg http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/2012%20Fireworks/IMG_0478_zpsafeeb113.jpg
  4. You are welcome - glad that it worked for you :)
  5. Hi Try the following: Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete Put a check next to Cookies / History / Temp Files > Delete these Try again. You will need to log in with the password to sites that Windows remembers login details to again. ============== If no good try this: Log into Hotmail Navigate to your Inbox In the upper right corner of the page, select Options and More options… Under the Customizing Hotmail section select Advanced privacy settings Under the Using HTTPS for Extra Security section select Go to HTTPS settings Sign in with your Live ID if prompted You should now be on a page titled Connect with HTTPS. Click the button to enable “Use HTTPS automatically (please see the note above)” Click the Save button and you will be returned to your Inbox.
  6. Sorry - I can't read the details
  7. Hi At least you know your system is clean and you have an up-to-date AntiVirus :) If you run MBAM again make sure you update it first as it doesn't update automatically. Try this: Start > in the run box type ......cmd........[ do not hit enter yet ] Right click on the cmd.exe that appears top left of screen > Run as Administrator At the Command Prompt type ......... sfc /scannow .............hit ENTER [ there is a space after sfc ] This will check the system files and attempt to repair any problems it finds.
  8. You are paying expensive for the Video Card you don't want a cheap PSU. Here are 2 examples: click here click here Good makes of PSU are: OCZ Antec Corsair Thermaltake I also found this; click here You obviously have to go with what you can afford. There are less expensive PSUs on the market. One thing you need to be aware of is that decent Video Cards specify not only the Wattage but also the minimum Amps on the 12v rail. I have not advised a 600 Watt PSU as this is the minimum for that card and PSUs ( even "good" ones ) are not very efficient. If you give a link to the specific card that you are interested in it may be possible to give you more specific advice.
  9. Hi Gareth I deleted the other duplicate post that was posted 5 minutes after this one. Is this £300 in total ? ( including what you have bought already ? ) For this price you are not going to get a gaming machine. Decent gaming video cards start at about £80 Do you have an Operating System that you can install that isn't on another machine ? If not this will take a large proportion of your budget.
  10. Hi Gareth and welcome to ExTS :)
  11. Hi Changing the PSU is not a big job - it just looks complicated due to all of the wires. You really need to consider this if you wish to upgrade your Video Card. Take a look here Use a digital camera to record the process. You cannot put any connections in the wrong place as they are all different and only fit where they should. Let me know what you think.
  12. Hi You don't have to buy RAM from Crucial - just use their specs. You may find it cheaper. The CPU you refer to requires 30 Watts more power than your old one. I would think that your PSU would cope with this.
  13. Fine. Just wait until you try to run graphics intensive games. Why would the manufacturers specify 300 Watt minimum ? So why waste my time ????? This was my thoughts exactly! Your problem is we didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. If you want to waste your money - go ahead. It seems you wasted the guys' time here too: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6122_102-581272/please-help-me/ They too told you your PSU was not up to it. It seems the only person who thinks the system will cope with that card is you !!!
  14. Hi I am not a gamer and my advice may be limited. Download Speccy from here: click here Play one of the games that causes a problem and monitor the temperatures - post the results here
  15. Hi and welcome to ExTS Sorry for the slow response - it is that time of year :) Which e-mail client are you using ? ( Outlook Express ? ) If it is Outlook Express take a look here: click here
  16. Hi Sorry for the slow response - it is that time of year :) Try the following: Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete > check next to Cookies and Temp Files > Delete See if this helps. Internet sites that give you auto login ( like this one ) will need the username and password again to log in.
  17. Hi and welcome to ExTS To be frank - you are better off without it. Download MS Essentials from here: ( It is totally FREE and updates daily ) click here Run the Norton Removal Tool click here Install MS Essentials. Download MBAM from here ( you want the FREE version ) click here Install and run it. It will produce a log after the scan - copy and post it here. If there are any problems one of our security experts will advise further.
  18. Hi and welcome to ExTS Your old card ( GT230 ) requires a PSU of 300 Watts minimum. The new card ( GTX 580 ) requires a PSU of 600 Watts minimum. I suspect that if you go with the GTX 580 you will need to upgrade your PSU too. Both cards are PCIe x 16 - so the GTX 580 will fit into the present slot.
  19. As you are having problems with other games there is obviously a system problem. The Crucial Scan will give you specific information re. your motherboard and supported RAM click here
  20. I wanted a Win8 machine ( to keep up-to-date ) and had a gift voucher that was a year old so I put this towards a new laptop. Acer V3-571 Win8 6GB RAM Intel i3 HD on-board graphics Not the highest spec in the world but for what I want it is ideal :) My 5 year old laptop is an Acer and I had no problems with this at all ...............probably spoke too soon !!
  21. It may be possible to create a small partition on your hard drive and format this FAT32 instead of the usual NTFS. You could then possibly install the old software onto that.
  22. If you had waited for a reply you could have saved yourself the cost of the hard drive. :) You can always buy an external enclosure for the drive or add it as an extra storage drive internally.
  23. The two cards are built on the same GT430 architecture so both will require a 300 Watt PSU
  24. Hi I have been away for a few days too :) Take a look here: click here If you get no POST after stripping the motherboard down then you can assume that the PSU or m/board is at fault. There is a link to testing a PSU click here
  25. I don't understand what you are asking. If you are still thinking that the GT430 can be run in your system this is from the link you gave me: Minimum System Power Requirement 300(W)
