What I would do is to sketch or take photos of all the connections that you have and are going to take off. Then the PSU is held on with 4 small screws at the back. The Molex connections are sometimes a bit stiff to remove but with a bit of persuasion they will come out. take a look here it should help click here The video suggests an anti-static wrist strap. You will not need this. Switch off at the wall but leave the plug in. This maintains the earth connection. Before you start touch the bare metal of the case. This will discharge any static in you. If the old PSU has an on/off switch - then switch this off.

Hi If the connection ( red box see pic below ) is 4 pin [ which I think it is ] then this PSU will replace your old one and give you : 500 Watts 20 + 4 connection ( which will replace your 24 way connection ) 4 pin ATX ( replaces the one in the red box see pic ) 1 SATA hard drive connector ( not needed in your case ) 1 6 pin PCIe connector ( video card - but not needed for yours as you say it does not have one ) 4 molex connectors ( you will only need 2 )

That is good :) There was an adapter available if needed. Found this too click here This gives off a blue light :) It has a few more connections that may ( or may not ) prove useful. .
-
Sorry - I think your new card DOES have a VGA connection. The 6670 comes in a variety of guises .......if you have a look at your new card the centre connection ( the blue one ) should be the same as my pic above. If it is - I was worrying unduly :)

I have found this: click here I don't normally recommend cheap PSUs but I suspect that your system is old and you don't really want to spend a lot of money on it. The reviews are good. Another thought: ( sorry I keep seeing problems :) ) What monitor do you have ? The connections on the back of the video card do not have VGA - which is the older standard. Is it like this?

Hi Stella - back again :) Your hard drive has what is called a Molex connection. ( Some PSUs come with the more recent SATA connection which is different ) It sounds as if the video card has a power connection - but this image shows 3 different types ??? ( it does say ....IF ) I will see what I can find that relates specifically to the video card. We are getting there :) ============ EDIT From what I can find - there is no extra power needed for this card. If the package is clear so you don't have to open it ..... is there a 4 or 6 pin connection on the card ? It will look something like this:

I'm off out for a bit - will pick this up later. PSUs are from about £17 upwards .....depending on Wattage and quality :)

Dell Latitude D430 running Vista Business will not boot.

If you got into the BIOS without a password it is unlikely that one is set. What if you leave the box blank and just hit Enter ? -
That looks like it - they should all be standard if 24 pin. Next question .....the power connections to the hard drive and DVD drive ....do they look like this ? Some newer PSUs don't seem to supply this connection. Also - on the box of the video card - does it say that it needs a 4 or 6 pin power connector ? ( it may not )

Hi Stella - great picture ....very helpful. From the label your PSU is a..... ISO ISO-450PP 4S 350W Switching Power Supply Power Supply Specifications: Form Factor- AT (150mm * 140mm * 86mm) 24-pin (Non ATX) main power connector 4-pin CPU Power Connector (P4) 1 SATA power connector 3 Molex connectors 1 floppy connector The 150 x 140 x 86 is a standard size :) The 24-pin (Non ATX) main power connector bit has me confused. ATX is the standard - Non-ATX ?? Does your main connection on the big circuit look like this ? ============ I deleted your picture - it was showing the product code for your Windows installation. It could have ended up all over the internet and you would find eventually that you had an "illegal" install of Windows :)

[solved] computer start up problems
KenB replied to mcd840's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
That is good service - let us know how you get on :) -
Hi Stella Your PSU is 350 Watts Can you take a photo of the PSU please so that I can see if it is a standard one or a special. If it is a standard one there is no problem. I can't find any info on your computer - other than the company has stopped trading. Does it have a model number?
-
Here is a thought ... The G-Force 9400GT and the GT 610 only require 300 Watts. You could give the suppliers a ring and explain that you have had advice and your machine cannot run the 6670. Could you return it for a refund ? Then order the G-Force 9400GT or GT 610.

When your contract runs out ask here and we will direct you to the best free one at the time. At the moment we are recommending MS Essentials.
-
Hi Stella There will be a label on the PSU ( top or side ) It will have info relating to the PSU - what you are interested in is the figure followed by W or Watts .............. 300 W for instance

Hi and welcome to ExTS I assume that this is already installed on your own machine ? Try the RAM modules one at a time. -
Blue screen - Dell Inspiron 1545
KenB replied to spdavies's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi and welcome to ExTS often refers to a hard drive problem. First thing to try is to take the hard drive out and put it back in again. It could be that the drive has worked loose. You will find it under a cover in the base of the machine. I found this that should help: Initially all you need to do is take the drive out and replace - no need to take it off the caddy. -
I can see where they are making the distinction. They will give you free advice over the phone but if they take control of your system then they reserve the right to charge you. What I can't understand is that this is exactly the same for the free option - so no benefit from paying for the Pro version ! It is too late now as you have paid - but we never recommend "paid for" AVs as there are very good free ones available. Have you had the problem repaired? If not we can take a look at your system ( it will not involve us taking control of your machine ) Do you need starbuck or etavares to take a look ?

Dell Latitude D430 running Vista Business will not boot.
KenB replied to fudge's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi and welcome to ExTS This is related to Rapport software that comes free from your bank. Did you attempt to remove it ? Can you boot up in Safe Mode? constantly tap F8 about once per second after switching on. Can you check in the BIOS to see if there is an option to boot from an external drive ( USB ) It will be either F2 or DEL after you switch on ( again tap this key ) -
Hi Some CPUs can be replaced - some are actually soldered in. This may put you off If you are trying to speed up the machine it may be better to add RAM than try to replace the CPU.
-
Hi again They don't have "built in obsolescence" as you suggest - although you may be forgiven for thinking that if you need to replace them regularly after 2 years :) [i am using one now that is a good 4 - 5 years old] This doesn't sound good. A clicking hard drive is a dying ( or dead ) hard drive. ..............excuse the pun :) Is this what yours is doing ? If you have recovery disks it is possible to insert a new hard drive and re-install from the disks. Do you have these? Or better still - a full installation disk ?

Hi and welcome to ExTS Your printer has 2 models ......J510a / J510c You need to know which you have. ( it should say on the printer somewhere or on the documentation ) You also need your Operating System ( Win 7 ? ) And - you need to know if your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. Armed with this information you can download the correct drivers from here: click here If you need further help / advice just ask :)

Hi and welcome to ExTS I have not heard that they charge for advice. The website suggests that the call is free ............it may be that they charge if they need to take remote control of your system Is this the case? Where they aware that you had the paid-for version ? click here The above is AVG (Free) [h=3]From the paid-for version Free phone support[/h]Whenever you need help, day or night, we’re there. You get: AVG FREE SupportOur expert support team is always just a free call away day or night, free of charge, 365 days a year. One of our security experts may have more information for you.

[Solved] Messed up Linksys WRT54GL Router
KenB replied to amberli's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi and welcome to ExTS The button you have pressed has returned your router to factory settings - in other words it is as if it was straight out of the box. You should have had a set-up CD that came with it. Do you have this ? The user guide is here: click here -

In that case you are logged on as somebody else - or is this really you ? I give up. I can see no reason at all why you cannot log on as yourself. If I can't reply to the same poster I will not join the thread. I will leave it to others who may understand - I don't.
