  1. Not in my house. :) Isn't it strange - there always seems to be a few bits left over
  2. I didn't suggest that MBAM would solve your problem - It would be helpful if you posted the log so that our security staff could see what is on your system.
  3. I agree with Nev - the 570Watt PSU will be OK. The old Video Card working proves there was a problem with the original. The problem card was probably shorting out the PCI Bus. Let's hope all will be good when the replacement is fitted.
  4. I have just one observation - That bench is far too TIDY !! You do get a sense of achievement when a soldering job works :)
  5. We don't sit in front of our computers waiting for a reply - we do have other priorities. We do, however, try to reply to all posts within 24 hours.
  6. Well we now know that it isn't your monitor. Let us know the result of swapping the card for a known good one.
  7. From a PM sent by PEV Hi Ray, I wrote a tutorial on "How to Create a Backup Image of your System" a while ago. The software is free - unlike some others. An image is a direct copy of your hard drive - errors too. So if you are still sorting things with etavares I would get the all clear first. The tutorial is here: http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=190 You need somewhere to store the image. I suggest an external hard drive as it keeps the image in one place. DO NOT attempt to store it on a partition on the hard drive being imaged. You will also need to create the recovery disks ( it is no use trying to do this on a dead computer :) ) There are 2 options - Linux and Windows PE I suggest burning both. ( Just in case ) The process does take a few hours - so one rainy Sunday sounds perfect.
  8. Just saying hello and welcome. We are neighbours ( Wirral ) :)
  9. If you have MBAM on your system run the scan and post the results here. If not - try the URL below. If no go ....copy the URL and paste it into the address bar - see if that helps http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_pro If you can - click on "Products" - you want the free version. You may get re-directed to a mirror site - this is OK.
  10. Hi Richard Thanks for the update. Keep us informed of your progress :)
  11. Hi, By "on-board" I meant a video outlet direct from the motherboard :) If you can swap the Video Card to test - this would be a great help.
  12. I have no experience of this. I will ask one of our moderators if he can advise further.
  13. Hi and welcome to ExTS If you have more than one AV on your system they will conflict. Do you have more than one? Have you tried running MBAM in safe mode ?
  14. If you are getting re-directed then this could be malware on your system. Download MBAM from here: click on "Products" - you want the free version. click here You may get redirected to a mirror site - this is OK. Install > Update > Run It will produce a log in Notepad. Copy all of this and post it here please. We may need to ask one of our security experts to take a look.
  15. Hi, The DVI outlet of your Video Card transmits both Digital and Analogue data. The VGA monitor uses the Analogue signal. There wouldn't be an adapter if it wasn't possible to "bridge" the two :) Do you have a VGA on-board connection to try ?
  16. Hi, The first thing you need to do is to check the monitor on another machine - or another working monitor on your machine. If the monitor is OK - do you have on-board video to try? If so - connect the monitor to this to try.
  17. Hi and welcome to ExTS Is it actually "ticking" If so - then it looks as if the drive is dying. 2 dead drives in as many weeks is worrying - but the second one was "old" so it could just be coincidence. Have you thought about attaching the drive(s) to a second machine and running chkdsk on it ? (just to confirm) The manufacturer should also have diagnostic software that would give you a truer result. It would be good to be certain before you buy a new one.
  18. Hi, Does this help? click here
  19. Hi, Can you give us a bit more information please? Are you trying to include a picture in a post or add an avatar ( picture under your name )
  20. True - but we don't charge for our services. markedwardcarr and markcarr are one and the same person who only have one interest - themselves ( or rather himself ) !! We DO NOT allow private advertising.
  21. Do you have a CD in the CD Drive ? Try taking the CMOS ( silver coin-shaped ) battery out of the motherboard for 30 seconds > replace > re-boot. the + side of the battery is on top Before you do - switch off at the wall - leave the plug in to maintain the earth connection to the m/board.
  22. Hi and welcome to ExTS I assume that the system does not boot up? Before you buy a new m/b why not check it out ( as best we can ) first? Do you get any POST beeps when you try to boot up? ( assuming that you got one beep before ) Does the keyboard light up and are there any LEDs lit on the m/b ? ================= If you are NOT getting POST beeps ( and you did before ) ...... Switch off at the wall - leave the plug in to maintain the earth ( ground ) connection. Then I would strip everything off the m/b ( RAM / Video Card etc ). Disconnect all external devices. Disconnect the power to the hard drive and DVD Drive. Disconnect the drives' data cable at the m/b end. Leave only the 20(4) way connection from the PSU Switch on. You should get POST beeps if you have an internal speaker. If you don't then it is a problem with the PSU or m/board. ================== If you DO need to replace the m/b then you will invariably need to re-install the OS on your hard drive. (unless you have XP then you can do a repair install) You may want to get at the data on the hard drive to re-claim it. This is easily done.
  23. If you managed to install the correct driver it would show in Device Manager. I have just downloaded the file from the link in post #5 It also runs through the installation process. Please try this link again as I am sure that this is the driver that you need. Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver The connection is a bit slow - but it gets there in the end
  24. Hi, Start ....type in ......devmgmt.msc .....ENTER ================= INF Driver - This is the Setup Information File. It is used by Windows to install Device Drivers Onboard VGA Driver - this will be under Display Adapters HD Audio Driver and application - this will be under Sound Video Game Controllers LAN Driver - This will be under Network Adapters If you click the + next to each you will see the device driver that is installed. If there are no yellow exclamation marks or red Xs then you can assume that the drivers are OK. With the exception of possibly the VGA Driver - I don't think the others would stop you playing the game. ==================== Do you get an error message when trying to run FM2012 ?
  25. Hi, If this is your motherboard ..... click here It is a micro-ATX form factor. 9.6 x 9.6 inches - this is smaller than the standard ATX ( 12 x 9.6 inches ) You may need to be careful selecting a Video Card to suit. Also - depending on your choice - you may need to upgrade your present Power Supply Unit to cope with the card.
