1. Hi, take a look here: How to delete Kaspersky temp files Make a note of the amount of free space that you have before you start - then compare what you have afterwards.
2. Was the recovery disk supplied with that specific machine ?
3. Hi and welcome to ExTS Is this formatted? I don't think using recovery disks will provide the option to format and partition. You can check by connecting it up to your friend's vista machine via USB adapter. Let me know if you need more information here. Also - it is not possible to swap hard drives over and expect them to boot. The Operating System basically recognises and looks for the motherboard that was present when the installation took place.
4. Hi, Yes - it is not going to harm your system other than you will have no sound. Don't do that yet - leave it as an option to try later. Try the following: Start > type in ....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER Click the + next to Sound Video Game Controllers Let me know exactly what is listed (I only have one device)
5. Excellent - I am happy to hear that you are up-and-running again :) I think the fact that your system could not boot took you directly to the "Repair" options when tapping F8.
6. Hi and welcome to ExTS I have seen this problem before and it has been due to the Anti-Virus storing logs. Norton is the usual culprit. Which A-V do you have ?
7. Hi and welcome to ExTS I am not familiar with this software. I assume it is the fingerprint recognition that some laptops have ? The error message you are getting could be due to using any symbols ) / - @ # etc Is this the case - or are you using only letters and numbers ? I assume that you can boot up and use the rest of the PCs functions?
8. Hi, All I can find related to that driver is that it is linked to HP machines. Confusing !! Your problem is that the Graphics Adapter on your board does not have Win7 drivers - none that I can find - and certainly not on the Acer site. This is an Acer Vista Driver 32 bit. Give this a try. Click Here
9. Start > All Programs > Windows update Take a look at the history ............the most recent will be at the top. Are there any errors? If you double click on the error you should get more information.
10. Try running CCleaner from here ( you want the free version ) Leave it on default settings. DO NOT use the registry cleaner option. It will clean out unused and unnecessary files.
11. I would think this would be a good idea. Give them a ring and explain your problem. If it has never been OK since the upgrade then it seems to me that they have missed something. Let us know what they suggest.
12. Hi, Take a look at this: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/remove-or-uninstall-office-2010-trial-HA101972584.aspx
13. Hi, Take a look here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK I couldn't find M65 - but it must be part of the M60 series. If that doesn't do it - try this one: http://www.gzrcw.net/drivers/toshiba/Satellite/drivers_1123.html Try re-installing the drivers they could be corrupt.
14. Did you click on the plus ( + ) symbol next to Sound Video Game Controllers > Right click on the Sound Device > then right click Properties ?
15. Hi and welcome to ExTS Start > Run ....type in .....devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click the + next to Sound Video Game ...... Right click on the Sound Device > Update Drivers use the Auto option ( You need an internet connection )Let us know how you get on.
16. Hi and welcome to ExTS I have had a similar problem before with XP ( not OEM ). Just before the system reboots try taking the disk out of the drive. It seems that it is finding the disk again and going through the install process from the start.
17. Thanks for confirming that. The BIOS is picking up your Hard Drive. Try the following: Switch on and immediately start tapping F8 about once per second. You should see this screen: Select Repair Your Computer Follow the screen prompts. If it asks for a password and you have not set one leave this blank You should get to here: Select Startup Repair. It will check and attempt to repair any problems it finds. ======================= If that fails you now need to check the drive itself. To do this it needs to be attached to another system. Take the drive out. It will be held in with (probably) 4 small screws. 2 either side. You will need to disconnect the power and data cables from it. It should then slide out. You can use the SATA data cable if you have another desktop and use a power connection from the PSU of the 2nd desktop. OR You need a 3.5 inch SATA to USB Adapter. Similar to this. Click Here Or an enclosure ( Caddy ) similar to this: Click Here If you are happy to continue down this route let me know.
18. So - you didn't do a System Restore with the other help you received. What DID you do to "solve" your problem. We don't want to be going over the same ground.
19. I have merged your two posts as they seem related. Presumably your problems all started when you had this done? if so - have you spoken with the person who did the "upgrading" ?
20. Hi, Primary IDE Master, Primary IDE Slave These show "None" because you don't have an IDE hard drive yours are SATA. ( different type ) SATA2. Samsung HD753LJ This looks to be your hard drive. What I cannot understand is why it is located in the SATA 2 port and not SATA 1. SATA 3 & 4 are your DVD & CD drives. Switch off at the wall - leave the plug in. Take the side panel off and touch the bare metal chassis to discharge any static in you. Take a look at the motherboard - there will be wires coming from the DVD/CD Drives and hard drive and connecting to the motherboard. There will be 4 SATA connections on the board. 3 are accounted for. Is there anything in the SATA 1 socket?
21. You are welcome :)
22. Quick answer - no. Longer answer.... There are specific designs of module that suit different motherboards. The RAM can be DDR2 or DDR3 ....... They look the same but the little notch is located in a different place. DDR2 and DDR3 are therefore incompatible as they simply will not fit. There is a scan that you can use by Crucial. It will tell you exactly what is in the system and what is compatible. Crucial Scan Tool Also - motherboards have a max RAM limit. The older the board the less this is. If you are using a 32 bit system it will not recognise much more than 3.5 GB RAM.
23. Did you try System Restore to a date prior to the start of this problem ?
24. Hi and welcome to ExTS I suppose somebody has to :) (joking)
25. Hi Is this a laptop or desktop ? This could be linked to the BIOS, the hard disk itself or the Master Boot Record. Switch on and tap F2 or sometimes it is the DEL key. It will say ....."press -- to enter Setup" usually bottom left of screen shortly after you switch on. Check in the BIOS to see if the hard drive is recognised. It will look a bit like this:
