  1. You seem intent on asking questions that are not appropriate to this site. At the risk of repeating myself - we a here to help with computer-based PROBLEMS ! This thread is closed too.
  2. [h=2]Poker sites[/h] We are a computer help site for people who have problems with their PCs- we are not here to advise on the regulation / running of gambling sites / software ...........even if we knew. Thread is now closed.
  3. Hi and welcome to ExTS The specs of your proposed pc look fine. It doesn't say that it comes with an O/S so you must assume that it doesn't. You need to add this to the cost. I couldn't see a specification for the PSU. Without this information I cannot say if it is possible to upgrade the Video Card ( if you wanted to ) in the future without replacing the PSU too.
  4. Hi and welcome to ExTS If the old laptop was yours surely you would know if the pictures were password protected or not. Were they? Take a look here - it may help click here
  5. Open MoveOnBoot then click on the Delete Button in the Toolbar ( red box in picture ) Then select Delete Folders http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/MoveOnBoot/MonBoot1.jpg Click on the box with the ... to select the folder to delete. You will need to repeat this process for each folder. http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/MoveOnBoot/MonBoot2.jpg I am deleting Test1 and Test2 http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/MoveOnBoot/MonBoot3.jpg When you click on the folder to be deleted the path is shown for you to confirm. If it is correct click on OK. http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/MoveOnBoot/MonBoot4.jpg Repeat this for each folder. The path to Test1 and Test2 is shown below in red. Once you have finished selecting the folders click on Restart Windows to re-boot and delete the selected folders. http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp118/kenbrabin/MoveOnBoot/MonBoot5.jpg
  6. If I can add my thoughts ..... This has got to be a setting in the BIOS. At this stage Windows has not started booting ( If I am reading this correctly ). The option to go to Set-up indicates that the system has not got as far as booting Windows because once the boot process starts you cannot get into the BIOS. I suggest going back into the BIOS and look for anything related to Floppy or Floppy Seek and disable it. Start with Advanced BIOS Features and Boot Device Configuration
  7. Thanks for the extra information. Try MoveOnBoot to delete the problem folders. click here
  8. Hi, I found a review for the card click here It suggests 400Watt but this is for the 512MB not the 1GB card. I would always go for a higher spec PSU. To answer your question ......if you are getting the 1GB version you would be best advised to go for the 500Watt ( or better ) PSU.
  9. Hi, If you look in the router settings ( 192,168.1.254 ) is there a lease-time ? If there is set this to as long as possible.
  10. Bit aggressive with your reply. Somebody else may have more suggestions but I do NOT!
  11. I have seen this before with Norton. I don't use Norton so I apologise if this is wrong: You are looking for Norton backup files. C:\ > NAVMSE > backup If you put the mouse pointer on this folder it will tell you how big it is. I suspect this is where all of your free space is going. If I am wrong with the above path use treesize to locate the backup folder.
  12. Please explain further...... Have you repaired the drive? If so - what did you do? Is it now up and running again?
  13. What you have copied is only half the log. Please open MBAM > Logs and locate the quick scan that came up with the 40 problems. Copy the complete log and post it here. (at the bottom there should be an explanation as to what has been found / removed ) I will ask one of the security experts to take a look and see if there was anything that needs further investigation.
  14. Leave them all alone. Do not use registry "cleaners" if you don't know what you are doing. Please be patient. One of our security experts will be along shortly to advise on the best course of action.
  15. Let us know how you get on - and best of luck :) Be careful with your choice of PSU. Dell systems often use non-standard PSUs. I have done a bit of reading and it seems that the Inspiron 530 uses a standard ATX PSU - but do check :)
  16. You have a router and a modem connected together?? Most routers have inbuilt modems. Will the internet connection work with just the router and no modem ? You do have filters fitted to all devices connected to the phone line ?
  17. Hi Claire - bit late with my Christmas wishes - but I do hope you have a Happy New Year :)
  18. Connect the drive to the working computer. Use a SATA cable from the non-working pc. Don't forget - you will need a power connection too. If you can see the drive in "Computer" along with C:\ etc from the working pc then we can hopefully transfer data and run some checks on the problem disk. Let me know the result of connecting it up.
  19. Hi, Not on XP at the moment ............ If you right click on the desktop > are the "Auto Arrange" and "Lock Desktop Icons" both checked ?
  20. Just to throw a spanner into the works :) I have slightly better d/l speed 12Mb/s but poorer upload. ( wireless laptop ) I don't have too many problems with YouTube Although as Nev says, if you are paying for 20Mb/s then a call to your ISP to ask for an explanation is in order. Be prepared for a stock list of excuses. Try taking the 512MB module out and run on 1GB. Swap them over if no improvement. Put both back if no improvement.
  21. Hi Bowler, From what you have said so far I am assuming that the desktop machine is connecting via the router OK. Is it connected via a cable or is it wireless ? The Notebook: You should not need to change anything re. Networks etc. Most laptops have a switch to turn on the wireless adapter - check for this and please confirm it is on. There should be an icon in the bottom corner of the screen that looks like 2 monitors.... Right click on this. Select "Connect to a Network" You should be able to see the available networks - yours included. Click on this > Connect. If you have set up a security key you will be asked for this. If you cannot connect ..... there is a repair option when you right click on the monitor icon. Give this a try - then try connecting again.
  22. We don't advise registry cleaners - they do more harm than good. If this is a recent problem it may be worth trying System Restore to a date just prior to the start of the problem. For XP ......Start > Run ....type in .....msconfig....Click on "Launch System Restore". Data, photos. files etc will be fine. If this doesn't sort it.... Download MBAM from here: Click on Products > you want the free version http://www.malwarebytes.org/ Install > Update > Run If it finds anything post the log here please.
  23. Hi, I think Bluesplayer was referring to "Floppy Seek" This needs to be disabled. This may help: click here
  24. If you have 1.5GB RAM adding any more will not make a significant difference. Has your system slowed down recently? It is XP ? 32 Bit? You could probably benefit from a clean-up and defragmentation of the hard drive.
  25. Yes it would. The DDR3 RAM on the Video Card is not related to the RAM on the motherboard. They have their own individual controllers. You do need a 400W PSU.
