  1. Only the use of your mum's laptop What make is the hard drive? This should be on a label on the drive itself.
  2. Hi and welcome to ExTS I have split your post from the others and given you your own thread. It will be less confusing this way :) Your motherboard is a MicroATX form factor. Basically - this is a smaller than standard board. Board specs are here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/motherboards/desktop-motherboards/desktop-board-dh55tc.html What is confusing me is that normally a low profile Video Card needs to be fitted. ( Smaller than normal ) Your GT 240 appears to be a standard card. The GTX 460 certainly is. Please confirm: 1 The link I gave above is actually your motherboard. 2. That the GT240 is a standard card and there is plenty of room for it.
  3. If you are getting the same result from 2 different machines then the problem lies with the device itself. It sounds like a power issue. Does it use the USB port for power or does it have a separate mains adapter? Either way - I think a call to the retailer is in order as it must still be under guarantee.
  4. Hi and welcome to ExTS Have you tried this on another machine ? If so - was it the same result? Have you tried it in a different USB port ?
  5. Hi, If you can - Win7 is the way to go. I doubt though, that an XP system will be totally compatible. Download the Win7 Compatability Advisor tool from here and run it to find out. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=20 To run 64 bit Windows you need a 64 bit capable CPU ( Processor ) Yours will only be 32 bit I suspect ( unless you have 64 bit XP installed ? )
  6. Let us know when you are ready to continue :)
  7. Correct Yes - the enclosure I posted will fit your drive. There are no guarantees - but we can run some tests and you may be able to get your data off the drive. If you are ordering it from Amazon it should arrive within a few days. It is really simple to use - I have one :)
  8. ?? We wanted to connect it up to your mum's laptop using a USB port and an enclosure that you would need to buy. I posted this earlier: If your hard drive is SATA there is a cheap enclosure here: ( For the price this is excellent :) ) click here To help you decide if it is SATA or IDE http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=76 We need to put your drive in the enclosure ( similar to slotting it back into the laptop case as you have already done ) so that we can run some tests on it :)
  9. Hi and welcome to ExTS Quote from one of the Amazon reviews I bought one of these adaptors to connect my xbox 360 VGA cable to my DVI input on my HD TV. One word, Perfect. Is what you have got exactly the same as the Amazon photo ? What is the make and model number of your Monitor?
  10. Normally the covers come away easily. Is the picture above your machine? If so - have you removed both screws?
  11. Hi, I found a fix related to [h=1]SMS 2003 SP3[/h]Is this on your machine? You say you are using an older machine with Win7. Was Win7 the original Operating System ?
  12. If it solves your problem - there is no downside. If anything graphics manipulation will be a little slower - but I doubt that you will notice anything at all ........other than the dashes missing from your screen :)
  13. The various settings for the Hardware Accelerator turn off progressively more options. So - the further left you go with the slider do things improve? Is there a setting that cures all situations? If so - this is the optimum for your system. If not ..............what are you having problems with specifically?
  14. Do the dashes disappear from all of the programs you were having problems with? Are you getting this message appear at the mid-point?
  15. The hard drive is located in the corner: Don't forget to remove the battery - the battery has been removed in the photo ( long rectangular recess ) http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-L305-L305D/big/remove-lcd-screen-replace-video-cable-01.jpg
  16. Before starbuck takes a look at your logs ............. Start > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot Take the Hardware Accelleration back to the left side. Do you still get the same problem? If not - move it to the right a couple of notches. Try again until you get the optimum setting.
  17. I found this which I think is your machine. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-Pro-M10/replace-motherboard-small/Toshiba-Satellite-Pro-M10sm-08.jpg There are 2 screws to undo. The hard drive will then slide out. There is a bracket screwed to the drive which may need to be removed to attach the drive to an enclosure. If this isn't your machine which model of Toshiba Pro do you have? ( This is an M10 ) If you are taking the hard drive out - take the battery out first ( just in case :) )
  18. You are welcome Haley - good to know you were able to remove it without too much trouble :)
  19. Hi, Do we get a cut of the profits ?
  20. Google the game and search for system specs. You can then compare the game's system minimum requirements with what you have. (or will have ) Many games and Video Cards ( I am not a gamer by the way ) specify DirectX 10 or 11. I am sure that XP is not compatible with DirectX 11
