  1. There should have been if you could get to the Advanced options see here If you have ordered the disks it is too late now :)
  2. What were we talking about ? :) It is a pity we cannot run TFC (TempFileCleaner) on ourselves.
  3. Hi Is this your card ? http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_210_us.html I see you have asked this question on another site. You asked about drivers there. Boot up with the other card. Install the drivers for your new card. Start > ....type in ......devmgmt.msc .......ENTER Click the + next to "Display Adapters" Make sure the device is listed with no yellow exclamation marks. Shut down - swap over to the new card - try booting up.
  4. Hi and welcome to ExTS 150mm x 140mm x 86mm - dimensions of your present PSU 150 x 86 x 160 (WxHxD) - dimensions of the new one. If your present PSU is 140 mm deep ( i.e. goes into the case 140 mm ) then the new one could fit. It is 20 mm deeper. If you have space behind your present PSU then the new one should be OK. I found this review on your card: http://www.guru3d.com/article/evga-geforce-gtx-580-classified-review/23 I can't see anywhere that refers to it as a "dual slot" - in other words .......a wide card. This does look wide and your tower is a "midi" which may restrict space. Just make sure that there is enough room around the PCIe x 16 slot for the card width.
  5. You are no fool Bob - you are just like the rest of us ...................storing so much in your head it is difficult to locate it sometimes amongst the rest of the rubbish :)
  6. If they have it should be easily resolved. Do you access the website via your company servers? I would be interested to hear the final result :)
  7. Presumably this was from the problem pc and not another one? Try switching on and immediately start tapping F8 about once per second. This will take you to the advanced startup options. There should be an option to "Repair your Computer" Click on this. Follow the prompts. If there is any important data on the drive you may wish to consider trying to back that up before you do anything else. You would need an external enclosure to connect the hard drive to another system. Having got half-way through the recovery process may have put paid to both of these options.
  8. You don't have the drivers for the NIC installed. What is the make and model number of your pc. I can try to locate them for you. Also let me know the Operating System please.
  9. Hi Try running System File Checker Start ......type in .....cmd .................do not hit ENTER Right click on cmd.exe that is top left of the screen > Run as Administrator At the command prompt type in ..........sfc /scannow ( there is a space after sfc )
  10. Good to hear that you managed to fix it so that you can at least work with it. Keep in touch :)
  11. OK. Connect the ethernet cable back up to the desktop. Start ....type in ......devmgmt.msc ......ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters What is listed? Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?
  12. It was worth a try :)
  13. By this I meant that it looks as if it may be a problem at your ISP or with the site itself. Try the change to DNS and let me know.
  14. This implies that there is no problem with the BT Homehub settings. Take the ethernet cable and use it to connect the laptop to the BT Homehub. It should connect no problem. If it cannot - then it looks like there is a problem with the ethernet cable. Switch off the Wireless Option on the laptop first - just to make sure. Let me know the results.
  15. If this is the case - it certainly isn't your problem. ================== Try this on one of your Win7 laptops: Start > Control Panel > Network & Internet > Network Sharing Center > manage Network Connections ( left side ) Wireless network Connection > Properties > Highlight Internet Protocol V4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties Put a check in the box ......"Use the following DNS Server Addresses" ...............it is at the bottom. Type in 8-8-8-8 in the "Preferred DNS" boxes and underneath 8-8-4-4 Click OK This sets your Domain Name System to use Google's own. I have mine like this at the moment and it is working fine. Try the website now. Any problems - just change it back to Auto.
  16. Hi, You also tried with 2 Win7 laptops . This is not a laptop problem. You have tried 4 different machines and get the same error. Is it possible that you could post the address of the problem site? As Nev says - this is either an ISP problem or a problem with the site itself. ======================= Try pinging the site from your Win7 machine Start .....type in .......cmd .........do not hit ENTER yet Right click on cmd.exe that appears top left of screen > Run as Administrator At the prompt type in ..............ping www.***********.com ( address of the site ) > ENTER ( space after ping ) You should get 4 packets sent and no losses.
  17. Hi and welcome to ExTS I think these are the specs for your PC http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/2010/acer/aspire/AspireX1900/AspireX1900sp2.shtml You have 1 PCIe x 16 slot available on the motherboard. This is where the Graphics Card would fit. You only have a 220Watt Power Supply Unit. The Radeon HD 6850 requires a 500Watt PSU minimum therefore you would need to upgrade your PSU at the same time.
  18. Hi, Was there a problem with this before you removed F_F ? How are you connected ? Wired or wireless ? Are there any other computers in the house and can they connect OK ? Which router are you using. Make and model number please ? This doesn't sound like malware - it is more likely to be a setting on your computer or the router.
  19. I've got quite a collection Bob - mostly thrown at me by my wife :)
  20. If you don't have on-board video I am uncertain as to why you have 2 VGA sockets. You can get 2 on the same Video Card - but I would expect both to give you an output. What is the make and model number of your computer? If you don't have on-board Video the next option is either to try the card in another system or buy a new card to try.
  21. Hi Neil The nearest I can find to that is here: http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-Connectors/3-5mm-Compact-Stereo-PCB-Socket-20-0144/?sid=321052f4-7356-4c44-ac5c-aeb20e8568a1 There is a PDF data sheet that gives specific sizes. You could compare these to the one you have.
  22. Hi Draco and welcome to ExTS Any friend of Nev's ..............................................................is obviously going to cause a lot of bother :) We tolerate him - it's just the cornet playing that drives us mad. Good to see you here.
  23. Hi and welcome to ExTS Are any of these devices computers? Can you connect to the internet if you use an ethernet cable direct to the router? What is the Model number of the Netgear router please?
  24. Hi Neil I can't make out the area of the PCB that you are referring to. Any chance of a photo of the other side so I can place the jack socket ? If it is only the socket that is damaged then it should be a simple job to take the damaged one out and replace it. I used to order from Rapid Electronics and RS Electronics. Both have on-line catalogues.
  25. Hi and welcome to ExTS Good to hear that you were able to solve your own problem. if you could add a little explaining what you did - this may help others with a similar problem :)
