  1. We will soon know :) I will be here most of the evening ........let me know as soon as you want to get started.
  2. In addition to my previous post ..... If your drive looks like this one - it comes out with a bracket attached. This must be removed before you can attach it to the enclosure.
  3. You are welcome. Let us know how you get on :)
  4. All 2.5 inch SATA drives are standard. Does your hard drive have a connection plate screwed to it? There should be no screws sticking out of your hard drive. Does your drive have a bracket attached? If it does - you will have to take this off. The drive should look like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41vk9ZhC4lL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
  5. Hi, Yes - old drivers are available. Try the drivers from here: click here If these don't work for you it is possible to roll back to the present drivers.
  6. Hi, Any of the following manufacturers are "good": Antec / Corsair / Enermax / OCZ / Thermaltake You have to go with what you can afford. There will be cheaper options but these are known "good" brands.
  7. Hi and welcome to ExTS First thing: You have ordered a new laptop and you want to start pulling it apart. Not a good idea. If you do - you will invalidate any guarantee that came with the machine. The quality of the screen has no bearing on the fact that you cannot get full HD. This is down to the Video Card. You have NVIDIA® GeForce® 410M GPU 1GB which is not a card but a chip on the motherboard. It is this that decides the resolution and the quality of the graphics on the laptop.
  8. Thanks for the feedback. Glad you are happy with it :)
  9. I had the same problem with a friend's daughter. The password she thought it was had been misspelled. It took all afternoon - but eventually she managed to type it correctly. The passwords are case sensitive. Make sure that CAPS LOCK is off as Randy has already suggested. Another common error when typing passwords is to hold the SHIFT key down too long and you get: PAssword instead of Password ( 2 capitals instead of just one )
  10. You have a new PSU so leave that in place. Switch off at the wall but leave the plug in to maintain the earth connection to the motherboard. Disconnect the printer / monitor / and any other external hardware. Take all of the cards ( RAM / Sound / Video etc) off the motherboard. Disconnect the power connections to the hard drive(s) and the CDROM drives Disconnect the hard drive and CDROM drive data cables from the motherboard. Leave only the 20 ( 4 ) way connector from the PSU connected. Check inside the case to see if there is an internal speaker. If you can see one then you should get POST beeps. Obviously if there isn't one then you will not - but there usually is a speaker. Switch on. You should get beeps. If you do this is good. If you get no beeps and there is no speaker ......................do the case fans spin and stay on ? Get to this stage and let us know what is happening.
  11. Seems he was only here to advertise himself after all. We were right to be doubtful :)
  12. Thanks for the feedback. I have no doubts that this will help somebody else with a similar problem :)
  13. System Requirements for the 4350 PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard 300 Watt or greater power supply (350 Watt for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode) is recommended Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to http://support.amd.com/us/certified/power-supplies/Pages/listing.aspx for a list of Certified products 1GB of system memory recommended Installation software requires CD-ROM drive DVD playback requires DVD drive Blu-ray™ playback requires Blu-ray drive and full 1080p display requires a 1080p-capable monitor For Microsoft DirectX® 10.1 support, Windows Vista® Service Pack 1 is required To enable dual mode ATI CrossFireX™ technology, a second ATI Radeon™ HD 4350 Series graphics card, and an ATI CrossFireX Ready motherboard are required If you are upgrading the PSU I would consider something like 500 Watt. There will not be too much difference in price between that and a 300Watt and if you decide in the future, to upgrade the video card again, at least your PSU would probably cope.
  14. Hi Chris, Take a look in the BIOS - specifically the Boot Order. You need to make sure that the CD ROM Drive is first in the order. Switch on and constantly tap F2 ( could be DEL ) You will get a message on screen ......"Press -- to enter Setup" This is the key you want. Navigate with the arrow keys. Change the order with the + / - keys. Don't forget to Save and Exit ( usually F10 ) You have a 64 bit XP disk and a 32 bit Product Key ? They will not be compatible. If the OS Disk is 64 bit - why don't you have the Product Key for it? 32 bit systems will only recognise 4GB RAM and then only about 3.5 GB will be available. The other 500MB is allocated to Video etc. If the original XP version is 32 bit 2 GB RAM is more than enough.
  15. Hi, Take a look here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GV-N84S-512I-GeForce-8400GS-Graphics/dp/B002MB2WV0 This card needs a minimum of 300Watt PSU. It is a bit cheaper and you don't have to pay delivery charges. :) If both monitors are VGA you will need an adapter ( you would with the other card too )
  16. Hi, The specs for your computer show that you have a 300 watt PSU. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01781316&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&product=3986409 If this is the case I think that you will need to upgrade the PSU. Please confirm that this is the case. If it is I will try to determine the specific requirements for the card.
  17. This indicates a problem with the card. I suspect you have been sold a dud !
  18. Hi and welcome to ExTS Take the GeForce 7300GS off the motherboard and connect the monitor to the onboard graphics. Try now.
  19. Give the retailer a call. They should swap it for a working one.
  20. We can't help if we don't know what the problem is :)
  21. Yes - I have had a look at the specs for this card. It is a PCIe 2.0 which is the same motherboard slot that the new card would need. In addition: You will need a minimum of 450Watts Power Supply Unit. The GTX 460 is a dual slot card. In other words - it is wide. You must be sure there is space on the motherboard for it. It needs 2 x 6 pin PCI power connectors from the PSU. You will need DirectX 11 on your system.
  22. Hi, and welcome to ExTS Is this the icon that she "deleted" ? http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQl0X77dYaw2I5koPtqYDBHzKKuxXjaNq67vN9XvBnS049cmp1v5g If so - this is the Security Center icon. Take a look in the Recycle Bin on the Desktop. Is the icon there?
  23. Thanks. Toshiba may have some diagnostic software that we can make use of. Let us know when you have the enclosure.
  24. Hi and welcome to ExTS Please try to provide a little more explanation when you reply. Start in Safe Mode. Switch on > Constantly tap F8 about once per second > select Safe Mode from the list of options. Graphics will look a bit odd dure to minimal drivers. Can you access the folders / files now?
  25. You are welcome. Let us know how you get on :)
