Hi and welcome to ExTS Sorry for the slow response. We are not gamers here but I will try to answer your question. The suggested system requirements for WOW are here - click here Your CPU compares with the suggested i5 2400 However, your video card is below spec for the "Recommended" requirements - it is better than the minimum though. If you wanted to play the game on higher resolutions [ I suspect that you use a relatively low resolution at the moment ] your Video Card would need upgrading. ================ I am away for 2 weeks from tomorrow. Somebody else may pick this up.

Hi Scott, Thanks for posting in a new thread - it is easier this way. To be honest - I find your very detailed account a bit confusing so I am going to ask a few questions. :) 1. "Start-up Fails" - I assume that this is your problem? Is it EVERY time you try to boot up? Has this started happening since you added new RAM. 2. You posted this in the first paragraph - Then further down you say Was this the result of running sfc /scannow ? Usually SFC gives more detail if it finds anything to repair / fail These two statements seem to be conflicting. "Fail" ........"did not find any integrity violations" 3. If this is the case your system would not boot at all. Is this the error you get when your system fails to boot up ? I am wondering about the new RAM modules that you have installed. If these are not compatible you can get all sorts of problems cropping up. Take these out and replace with the old ones if you have them. Failing that - take one out [ if you have 2 modules ] and try booting off the other. Swap them over if the the problem still exists. Let me know the results of running with different RAM.

Hi Mark Still trying to get the overall picture. After you upgraded to Win-10 did it ever boot up? How old is the machine? Do you have the original Win-8 installation disk or was Win-8 pre-installed ? If you have a disk you could try re-installing Win 8. If you have data on the drive that you want see below ref. enclosure / caddy If Win 10 was up and running .... It is possible to create a Win-10 repair disk using another Win-10 system see here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F2vmWqX3QE This is worth a try to get you to the repair options. If you get nowhere with that I am thinking that this may well be a hard-disk problem. Are you confident enough to take it out ? If so I would suggest connecting it up to another machine to see if it is accessible. To do this you would need a 2.5 inch enclosure [ Caddy ] - these are quite cheap. Let me know what you wish to do.

Did you try what I suggested in my first post ?

Hi, I have a really old Epson printer and managed to load a driver for it in Win 10. You should have no problem with your router. You may have a problem with wireless adapters if you have an old USB one [ re drivers ] - but they are cheap enough to replace. Win 10 is well established and support, by way of updates etc is regular. If you are up-grading from 8.1 to 10 it would probably be best if you created an image of your present system onto an external hard drive. If you do this then, if the upgrade fails, at least you can revert back to what you have at present. Hope this helps. Post the make and model number of the printer. It may be possible to check for drivers. If it works with 8.1 there should be no problem with Win-10

Hi and welcome to ExTS :) Try the following ( it sometimes works ) Take the battery out. Unplug the charger connection. Press and hold the power button for 10 - 20 seconds Leave the battery out and connect the charger. Try it now. [ You have Win 8 as your OS in your profile and posted in Win 10 .....please confirm your operating system ]

Hopefully you will not need it :)

Thanks for the up-date Osprey - good to hear that you found a solution. You should try to create a Restore Point - if you have not done this already :) Especially if the ones available do not work.

Hi George, The Dell D630 originally had XP or Vista installed. Is the Win7 version that you are trying to install the same one that is installed already or is it a disk that you have? What is the exact error message that you get please ?

Hi and welcome to ExTS :) Try a System Restore to a date just prior to the problem starting. This will revert all of the system settings without affecting your files or data. Click the Start button [ bottom left of screen ] and type in ....system restore ... hit Enter key. Then follow these simple directions - click here Don't accept the "suggested restore date" - select one that you know is earlier than the start of your problem. -
Hi George, It sounds as if the Video Card is dying as it heats up. I have had a look at your pics from earlier and there is no slot that I can see, for you to add a card. With on-board video [ it is actually a chip ] when they fail it is not a simple job to replace. :(
-
Do you see anything on screen at all during boot-up - or is it just as your original photo. It does sound as if the On-board Video has packed up.
-
This doesn't look good George I suspect that the "Graphics Card" was on its way out and the stress test has finished it off. :(

Hi, I can relate to your mum's problem. I assume she switches it off after using ? Hence the cleaning cycle each time. I tend to leave mine on because of this. If she only wants to print black / white you could consider a cheap monochrome laser printer. You can get these quite cheaply now. They will print approx. 2500 + sheets before the cartridge needs replacing. [ some print more ] Google "monochrome laser printers" Get back to us if you need more information. -
Hi George, This may help - click here

No - I would have thought that it should complete in far less lime :( This video only runs Furmark for 60 seconds - Did you get any results ?

Those temperatures are OK - but this is taken when things are working. Click Start > Run Type in .....dxdiag .....Enter Click on "Display" tab Are any problems indicated in the Notes box ? Furmark do a stress test software. You can download it here - click here I found test results for a similar card to yours Score: 152 points (2 FPS) Submitted on September 24 2012, 1:14 pm Bench duration: 60 seconds Resolution: 1280 x 720 MSAA samples: 0 Window mode: fullscreen Primary renderer: NVIDIA GeForce 310M Device ID: 0x10de - 0xa75 GPU clock: 625 MHz Memory clock: 790 MHz Shader clock: 1530 MHz Graphics drivers: 8.17.12.6658 (1-7-2011) - nvoglv64 GPU temperatures (start/end):59°C / 74°C Number of GPUs: 1

Hi Jamie and welcome to ExTS I have deleted your other post - no need for 2 we see all that is posted :) You need to understand what cookies are before we decide to get rid of them. Most websites use them - even us. A cookie is a short script that typically contains 2 pieces of information. A site name and a unique user ID. A cookie is used by the site to record the fact that you have visited there. It may also record which pages - login details etc. This is why, next time you visit us, you will not need to log in again ....unless you have removed the cookie. In this respect cookies are good. They "remember" details about you making your login and movement around a website quicker. Some cookies are used for advertising and this is the annoying thing about them. They record which sites you visit, what you have viewed / bought etc. Basically deleting cookies will not damage your system or cause any problems as such. What it will do in some cases, is slow your use of the website(s) down. If you are happy with this then simply delete all cookies. Unless you actively block them - they will be re-installed the next time you visit the websites. LSOs [ Local Shared Objects ] are Flash Cookies. Websites that use Adobe Flash use them. Again, they are not malicious, and removing them will just slow the navigation / usage of the website a little. Did you find it here? Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCookies "INet" = Internet There is an excellent tutorial here - click here IE specific but good relevant information too.

Hi George, If you can ...... Download Speccy from here onto the problem computer - click here - the FREE version. Install and run it. Click on "File" > Publish Snapshot Copy the link and paste it here please. It will give us details of your system [ no personal details ] I am interested in temperatures. You can post these separately if you wish.

Hi George, I thought that your pics were after you had cleaned it. [ from your comment - obviously not :) ] Can you run it with the panel off? If so - give this a try. You could also direct a fan onto the motherboard. If it runs better with the panel off it would seem to be an over-heating issue.
