1. Thank's Nev - I managed to get it ....eventually. Looks like you need to reverse the process George and locate an original back panel.
2. Good question George - I was assuming that the back panel had been replaced to accommodate the Riser Card. ( just a guess ) I was also hoping that the manual would throw some light on this.
3. George, That square mesh panel seems to be "wrong" it is blocking any card being used in the PCI or PCIe slots. The 2 knock-out panels at the back are obviously designed for the PCI Riser Card ( the additional expansion card ) I suspect that the square mesh back panel comes off. Does it ? The panel above this with the 2 knock-outs on it obviously can be removed. I am wondering if these two panels have replaced an original to incorporate the Riser Card.
4. Managed to download the manual - click here Pages 20 - 23 explain the installation of a PCIe card.
5. Can somebody confirm my question re post #19 ? I still cannot get access to the manual :(
6. Hi again When you print the test page - does the Windows Logo print ? If not - it could be that there is a setting in Printer Properties that is set to "text only" or something similar.
7. Hi and welcome to ExTS That is a strange message that you are getting. Can you try deleting Cookies and History - see if that helps. [ if you delete cookies then you will have to log into sites like this again where Windows may be storing login and password details ]
8. Well done Jim !! It just shows what a bit of determination can do. I don't suppose you know what the missing driver was do you ?
9. For some reason the network I am on ( not at home ) will not let me download anything from this site ?? The manuals for your PC are here - click here I wanted to find out about fitting a video card. Is it necessary to purchase an additional piece of kit - i.e. a riser ?
10. Found this - click here This doesn't appear to be your case - or is it ? Also found this - click here This guy is using the PCIe x16 slot Edit; looking at this again ....this looks like a vertical case not the SFF case that you have. Yours does not appear to have the knock-out strips. Also found this - click here A PCIe Riser ........although I cannot believe that to use and card in that machine you have to buy an adapter. Still looking for a manual.
11. That's the strangest thing George ?? You have 2 PCI and a PCIe slot that you cannot use. The removable section that you have hold of is an "optional extra" - so the original design was for the 3 slots that, from your photos, cannot be used. Does the plate with the square grill holes come off ? Mind you - it doesn't look as if it should. I will see if I can find a manual.
12. Thanks for the photo Jim It looks as if you only have one removable card - and this looks like a LAN ( Network ) card that you connect the router ( ethernet ) cable to. Is this correct ? Do you use this ? If so - I assume that it works normally ?
13. Hi George What you have in your hand looks like a "Riser Card " This quote is from the specs I posted in my last post. What is the black "slot" underneath the cables in your other photo ? Can you see a ref number on the motherboard itself - it will be in larger letters / numbers
14. Hi George What you have in your hand looks like a "Riser Card " This quote is from the specs I posted in my last post. What is the black "slot" underneath the cables in your other photo ?
15. Hi George That is a PCIe x 16 Video Card. The white slots you show are PCI ( not PCIe ) There is another slot(s) in the top right of the photo .......... do you know what this is ? Black slot? ...showing in one photo ........covered by cables in the second. According to the specs for your machine there is one PCIe x 16 slot on your motherboard. [ see Expansion Slots ] click here Is this your machine ?
16. Glad that one was easy George :)
17. So are we Dougie ......... running out of options ??? I agree with DSTM - if it is hardware ....which I think it is ( ref Safe Mode ) then a re-install is not going to help. What options do you get when you hit "Properties" Jim ? +++++++++ What cards do you have plugged into the motherboard ? Network Card / Sound Card / Video Card ??
18. Hi Jim Right click on the device > Properties > Events There is an "Information" box .............does it give any info there ? There is also a "Time Stamp" ....was the device ever started ? Can you feed back info from here please ?
19. Hi Jim Right click on the problem device - What options does it offer ( I have asked this before :) )
20. I like your way of thinking Nev :)
21. I am confused too George. You say in the other thread that the card with the short backplate "doesn't fit " Nev researched that card and suggested it was PCI ............should fit the white slots. I found two sites with specs for your specific machine and both specs suggest that you have a PCIe x 16 slot too. I don't know where to go from here as I am totally confused. A photo of the motherboard will give us the info we need - any chance of posting this ?
22. Hi George I think your post is related to the thread that you have running re: video cards Take a look at this image below: The white slots are PCI. The blue slot is PCIe What is the difference? Apart from the obvious - PCI being shorter - the slots are not similar and the cards that fit them are not interchangeable. PCI is used for some older video cards and is still used for things like Network Adapters and Sound Cards. PCIe = PCI express is primarily used for video cards. PCIe replaced VGA as the connection to use for video cards. PCIe is very much faster that PCI and if you had a PCI video card some software just would not run properly. If you need any more information just ask :)
23. Hi George Everything I have read regarding your system states "Small Form Factor " "Low Profile" I would stick with a low profile card. This card also supports dual monitors. Just remember that you need a full width back-plate. ( ATX bracket )
24. I don't think there is anything going on that is detrimental to the system. I am sure Nev and I will stay with you as long as we can keep coming up with suggestions :) This is always a last resort. ========== Refresh my memory ..... if you right click on the problem device in Device Manager what options do you have ? ( I think you said earlier that there were only two ?? )
