  1. Hi There is no reason why SAT NAV cannot be included - to have a forum we would need one or more of our moderators to be able to answer members' questions. I am not sure that we have the background knowledge ....... I will ask :)
  2. Hi Louise You don't say which email client you are using ...... so assuming Outlook Express ..... take a look here - click here
  3. You are very welcome Chris - a knowledgeable member's contribution is never discouraged here :)
  4. OK - I will check back again tomorrow. I seem to have a better connection now so I should be able to post with no problems ...................hopefully :)
  5. Just poking my nose in here ..... Can you copy the logs in Safe Mode any better ? Constantly tap F8 after switching on - select Safe Mode form the list of options.
  6. Please don't make changes to Services - if your system is dropping a connection it is not likely to be a service problem. Are you getting help from somewhere else too ? This could be counter-productive. We need to know which router you have to explain properly how to change the Channel. Try this .... Open Internet Explorer ... ( how you access the internet ) In the address bar at the top [ where is says http://www. etc etc ] Delete all of this so that the box is blank. Type in ......192.168.1.1 .....ENTER If nothing happens try .....192.168.2.1 ..... ENTER This is why we need to know your router make and model number. If you DO manage to get to the box that asks for Login and Password this can often be left blank or admin is the word for both. Once into the router software you are looking for the Channel Option. This will be under "Wireless" and could be in a sub folder "Advanced" If you are having problems here - post your router make and model. ========== It could be that the router is failing and needs replacing. I have had a few routers that have gone this way. Seemingly OK for a short time > drops the connection > connects again for a while then the process repeats over. The solution was to replace the router. [ they don't last forever ] Let's see how changing the channel goes.
  7. Hi Unmountable Boot Volume implies that the disk cannot be accessed. See here - click here - It is quicker than me typing It is possible to take your hard drive out and connect it to another machine to run some tests. You would need a 2.5 inch external adapter to suit your drives connections. It could be IDE or SATA. Let us know if you need to identify which one you have. The enclosures are very cheap.
  8. Hi BunniLeigh Not sure how you have re-installed Win7 but it should have been possible to complete the installation without losing the other partitions. [ install on C: and ignore the rest ] If you chose to delete all partitions and have just one large one - this may explain it. I assume that you have checked in Disk Management ? Start > type in ....diskmgmt.msc .....ENTER Your hard drive will show as Disk 0 and partitions will be allocated drive letters C: / E: / F: etc. What is there ? It is possible to create partitions using Win7. Let me know what is showing in Disk Manager before we go any further. I am away from home at the moment and connection is VERY poor. One of the other mods may be able to pick this up if I can't get a connection to answer you :)
  9. Thanks for the input Ray :) I will mark this one as "Solved" You would certainly have noticed Windows slowing down - it need about 10% free disk space to operate properly. Good to hear the your machine is back to normal :)
  10. You could also try changing the channel that the router broadcasts on. There are normally 13 BUT ....channel 1 / 6 / or 11 are the usual preferences. ( no overlap of signal ) You would need to access the router software to do this. Just shout if you need help with this.
  11. Hi Chris Interesting website you have at VIP. You are very welcome here - just one thing ......we don't allow advertising, but I am sure you have figured that out for yourself :)
  12. Hi, Erase919 comes up with nothing when I Google it. What you have posted is a temp file - and as such is not needed. If the folder is "empty" the file(s) could be hidden. I am unsure why or how it was created but you can certainly delete it as temporary files are exactly that - temporary.
  13. Hi Ray, Post the MBAM results and Pete or Gene will advise further :)
  14. Hi Louise Good to hear that you are reasonably happy with Win7 - I am sure that once you get used to it you will like it as much, if not better than, XP. You know where we are if you have any questions - no matter how "basic" :)
  15. Hi Oakey and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. I am just replying to let you know that one of our Security Experts will be with you shortly. I know they both have full time jobs and one is based on the other side of the Atlantic. :)
  16. Hi Louise Good to hear you are making progress. I would install Open Office ( FREE ) as well as Office 2003 No problem at all. Start a new thread though this one is getting quite long. Re Transferring files from your old machine to the new one Yes - a memory stick is ideal for this. You will not be able to transfer software ( like Office ) but photos / word docs / etc etc will transfer no problem.
  17. Hi and welcome to ExTS Malwarebytes would have produced a log of the last scan. If you open it again > Logs and click on the most recent it should open in Notepad. Please copy the entire log and post it here. One of our security experts will pick this up and advise you further.
  18. Hi Ian and welcome to ExTS Take a look here - see if it helps ( if not get back to us :) ) click here
  19. Hi Bob Take a look here: click here You could try another option. I use Ashampoo on one of my machines - it is fine. You would need to uninstall the problem one.
  20. If you are sure that the password you are using is correct - make sure CAPS LOCK isn't on. Passwords are case-sensitive. Is there another Admin account on that computer? If so - try logging in using this. What Nev says is correct - we cannot assist with "forgotten" or "changed" passwords. Windows will not change your password by itself.
  21. What happened to this one ? http://extremetechsupport.com/threads/15836-Help-buying-new-laptop#.Uw7_QSB2tx0
  22. Pete is quite right here - unless you have Office 2003 already ? I use Open Office https://www.openoffice.org/ This is totally FREE. It is compatible with Office 2003 and will open all of your existing files.
  23. Doesn't sound as if he is being too co-operative or particularly helpful does it ? For your needs - Windows 7 Home Premium would be fine. There is a big difference in price between this and Win 7 Professional. You do not want XP. You may be used to it ..... but Windows 7 is a much better option. You will soon get used to this and it is a far better operating system plus you will still get the MS Updates - which XP will not. I don't like the sound of this guy. Is there anybody else you can talk to ? Have you Googled "Computer shops" for your area ?
  24. Hi Ray Can we mark this one as "Solved" ? :)
