Hi, This issue started with the updates last week after the updates, when I restart my computer with widows 7 home premium x64 bit it boots to black screen and sits there, harddrive not active, or it boots to the try to repair or run windows normally options. The repair doesn't work and fianlly after it is doen my computer just shuts down. The restart windows normally was working (till today) to at least get my computer up and usable. Also at the same time internet explorer 9 started not being able to be used, I launch it, then it closes saying a program prevented it from running. Sometime would work if I reopened it. Today I tried to restore my computer to before the updates as I am pretty sure I had an interrupted update which is now causing booting issue for my computer. But it didn't help, tried downloading some update agai to see, but since it won't reboot properly the updates fail? I have nearly everything I could find (sfc, various fix it tools, checked various registry spots, reset IE9, the fix it on my computer, readiness tool xs2, and something else) and had to restore my computer twice to get to my desktop and be able to use it. I can't find a single tool to check for incomplete update fragments or registry error it could have caused? There are a few other things listed here, but I didn't know what the carroot folder and other do or controll and didn't want to further mess anything up? (did options 1 - doesn't restart right, 2, 3, and 5 - there wasn't any of those) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2509997?wa=wsignin1.0 Can anyone help or shead some light as to how to find/fix whatever is going on. It was fine till these updates, and due to the restores I have no error codes, just one screen showing failed on my phone, and one thing showing a few items fixed, but they didn't help.Debra View this thread

I had the same problem with a bluetooth driver. It turned out that I was installing an outdated version even though the manufacturers site said it was the newest. I downloaded one version down from what they said was the newest and it installed and worked. The thing you should try is to search for an older driver and try installing it. You could also use device manager and uninstall the device and see if after reboot it installs itself correctly. It probably will fail however. You could also try system restore to a date before you installed any of the software or drivers. That will allow you to try a clean install of the software and driver. You might have corrupted the driver on install and the remnants left after removal are causing problems.

I upgraded my machine to windows 8 about4 months ago and everything was working fine for a while but about a month ago, the computer started getting stuck during reboot. Usually it gets stuck saying "Preparing Automatic Repair" but never gets to the actual automatic repair. I've waited more than 24 hours. Eventually I do a hard reboot and the cycle repeats. I've recently noticed my computer being slow, so I scanned with the 2012 version of Trend Micro, and didn't find anything. So, I chose to use Microsoft security essentials, and so the journey began. After scanning, I found a few viruses on there, removed the ones I could, and then it directed me to installing Windows Defender Offline onto a USB, which I did, I went into the boot menu, scanned, removed all I could, but it couldn't remove them all. So I decided to try Malware Bytes to see if that would change anything, same old same old, removed what it found, except a few. So, I went to TDSS Killer, it found a rootkit, and I tried to remove it, but upon restart of my computer in normal mode, the screen went completely black, and asked me to start an EXE from Kapersky lab, and i'm not sure if that is the TDSS killer or not, but I didn't want to run it without knowing, plus the name of the file seemed a little sketchy, like a virus file. So, I went onto the help website, tried downloading Norton Eraser, and it didn't find a single thing. I opened the %Temp% file and erased everything I could except there were 4 TMP files and one Debug log that said they were open in another program and wouldn't let me exit out of them. the TMP files were called "~DF1B4B2FA1A0DD91F4.TMP", "~DF5EEA08B3C342F593.TMP", "~DF999DC9F28D4747DA.TMP, "~DFBC5FBF12D0FD5009.TMP", and the log file called "FXSAPIDebugLogFile". So after attempting this, I downloaded the Microsoft Safety Scanner, which I believed would solve my problems. I was able to remove one of the 6 viruses that it detected, but the other 5 just said I would need to use manual Steps to remove them, when I clicked on the virus to figure out what they were, it gave me the same programs I've already used to try, and failed. So, I'm stuck in a losing battle. The viruses were as follows: "Trojan: Win32/Alueron.FW", Win32/Alueron.gen!AD", "Trojan: Win64/Alueron.gen!F", "Win64/Alueron.gen!L". Is there anything that anybody could think of that would help me solve this problem or atleast give me a resolution? I think I've tried everything that I possibly could. I REALLY could use help. Thank you! By the Way, the Trend Micro Program was the Full paid version, and if it helps any, the log says its found over 4800 Web threats in the last month along with 9 viruses, and I'm currently running my computer in safe mode with networking because It wont run in normal mode. Hi, Recently my ASUS G60 laptop running Windows 7 undergone a automatic Windows 7 update. For the past few days on every start up and shut down, it would display the messages saying that the Windows machine was being configured. This happened EVERYTIME the computer was started up and shut down.I did not notice anything different about it until now. I could not disconnect to an Unidentified Network in my own home, when I started it up. In the Network and Sharing Center, it list the connections as "VirtualBox Host-Only Network". I tried, but I could not disconnect from this network. I have an virtual Box on the machine and I have it running a Ubuntu virtual box, butthis was the first time, this error has ever occurred. I went under Computer->Properties->Device Manager to try to restart the network driver but I ran into an error when I clicked on Device Manager/Remote Settings/System Protection/Advanced System Settings ("The extended attributes are inconsistent")I looked on many forums including this one and it seemed as the advice was to run sfc /scannow on the elevated command prompt. This was not possible since I could not access the elevated command prompt, I would again be presented with the dame error. View this thread

My girlfriend bought me the 'upgrade' and it's complete and utter rubbish. I've gone from a daily laptop user to rarely turning the thing on! I've called customer service to ask for a refund and to revert back to Windows 7 and they were very stubborn and unhelpful. I am extremely disappointed and warn as many people as possible to avoid Windows 8. Why can't I just revert back to what I already have used and paid for? View this thread

We are attempting to apply SP1 on a Windows SBS 2011 x64 machine, and it keeps failing with the messageError: ERROR_NOT_FOUND(0x80070490) This, along with other updates trying to apply to the system, is disabling the Microsoft Exchange services on the server. We have already rebooted this unit several times, and ran the Windows Update Repair Tool without the issue resolving. View this thread

I write automated tests for several applications that user DirectX. The tests run on a build server as a service. After the platform update kb2670838 was installed on the server, the applications fail to launch due to a DXGI_ERROR_NOT_CURRENTLY_AVAILABLE. (The applications work on my local machine). I have seen a lot of other issues reported with the kb2670838 update, but not this specific one. Is there going to be a subsequent update to the kb2670838 to fix all the fallout to that update? Right now, it looks like my only option is to uninstall that update to get the automation back online, but I don't want to go that route. View this thread
