My computer is infected with the Cheshire Police Ukash virus. It does have Windows virus protection which runs a scan frequently. I have tried all the internet guides to removing it and have been unsuccessful. When starting in Safe Mode - Command Prompt setting, I can log in but within seconds, the computer is logging itself off and restarting. It is completely impossible to do anything. Is is possible for me (no computer experience) to remove it at all or should I take it to an expert? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am completely blocked from my computer at the moment. Thank you. View this thread

Windows x64 bit Home Premium PC. All other windows updates are working fine but system gets stuck when trying to install KB2814124. I have to turn off Windows Update or sits there for ever. There is nothing special in my set up. Event Viewer does not show anything useful. I have seen similar problems reported but there does not seem to be a resolution yet. Any ideas? View this thread

Hi all, I have been using windows 7 from many years there were no problem at all, but when i upgraded the system to windows 8 pro all the problems started. After a windows update system crashes and shut downs automatically, after i start it manually it works for maximum 5 minutes and again it shut-downs, this continues for 5 times after that it gives an error message stating your system ran into some problem and doesn't boot. I have refreshed the software again and again many a times, also used resetting the windows 8 option but it continues the same after a update, So initially i thought it was the problem of some virus because all the files in my system was erased completely automatically. Later i formatted the system completely using daricks nuke boot and installed windows 8 freshly but it worked for 8 days after some windows update it got crashed again saying your system went into some problem. Please give some solution to the problem. Presently i have turned off the windows update. View this thread

You may need to restart your computer". Windows Defender is also not updating with error 0xc8000222 - not sure if this is connected. Going back to Windows Update: Checked that services are running and did restart, no luck Followed article to "reset windows update components" but it was unable to reregister some of the BITS files asking if they were valid DLL files or failed to load message. The files are: mshtml.dll, shdocvw.dll, browseui.dll, msxml.dll, gpkcsp.dll, sccbase.dll, slbcsp.dll, initpki.dll, wuaueng1.dll, wucltui.dll, wuweb.dll, qmgr.dll and muweb.dll Tried Microsoft Fix It but no luck either Restored PC to point before I noticed the updates weren't working but same issues Tried Windows Update Automated Troubleshooter which downloaded a DIAGCAB file but I am unable to open or run it Tried Fix It again and report says - Issues Found - Windows Update components must be repaired, one or more Windows Update components are configured incorrectly (Fixed) then Repair Windows Update components (Succeeded). Issues Checked - Default Windows Update data locations have changed, the location where Windows Update stores data has changed and must be repaired (Checked). Repair default Windows Updtae locations, change Windows Update locations to Windows default settings (Not Run) Ran System File Checker Tool which finished with Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations Ran Windows Update standalone Installer KB947821 with error Installer encounted an error 0xc8000222 (same as Defender error) Saw a post from PA Bear MS MVP who wanted to know the answers to the following questions so though it may save time if I answer them here: Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply (no need to quote this post): 1a. Hi, I last ran the windows update successfully 2-3 days ago, but when I tried again this morning I got the message that windows could not search for new updates (Code 8024402f when running windows update). I googled the problem and initially thought the solution would be easy when I found I wasn't the only one to experience this issue). But I tried disabling automatic updates and deselecting all other checkboxes to no avail I tried running microsoftfixit to no avail I also ran windowsupdate.diagcab without any joy. Hope someone out there can guide me through the process of getting windows update to work again - it's so frustrating. Thanks in advance, Neil View this thread

During a recent Windows Update (and previously), I received a "Failed" status (1 of 7 Updates dates 14/3/13, see above for my ONLY failed opdates), I tried all the options & Fix-it, but although Fix-it says it had sorted Update, ALL reruns of Windows update merely said "Your System is OK & up to date". Why can't this software remove "FAILED" updates and reload them. So far I have wasted several hours and cannot find a solution to what, to me, should be a simple solution from Microsoft? I’m tying to update my PC from Windows XP SP2 to Windows XP SP3 using windows automated updates. When I go to Microsoft Support and click on run windows update from the top downloads list, I consistently get the message “The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view” and I can’t proceed with update. I could not find any solutions with the options provided n the message. Please advise how to solve this problem. View this thread

I am new to this community and accidently marked this problem answered. The truth is it is not. I appologize that I have to create a new question. The original question is: 'Windows Update indicates this PC is up-to-date, but actually many more KB (including SP2) needed to be installed'. Hi Sundeep, I followed your instruction and did the system file (sfc scan) in the method one. The result is Window Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. I select all SR records from the cbs.log and place the records in a text file. There are many verify and 0 repair but it did not specify any file name. Now I don't know how to continue. This is not what I expected. I did run Checksur.exe, that was fine. How do I know waht system files are corrupted and do the repair? Thank you. View this thread

Windows XP, SP3 I had Microsoft Security Essentials 4.1.522.0 on my computer and I had no trouble to update it, but I could not upgrade it to Version 4.2.223.1. The auto update sign kept popping up on my toolbar and it said I had Microsoft Security Essential 4.2.223.1 to be downloaded and installed. I tried to download it but it said the file had no bytes and at the end it said some documents could not be downloaded. However, the auto update sign kept appearing on my toolbar. Finally this morning I went to Microsoft website and downloaded the MSE 4.2.223.1 and installed it. After the installation is finished, suddenly my real time protection of this program is turned off and I have not been able to turn it on. Please tell me what is wrong. Should I remove the Version 4.2.223.1 and reinstall the Version 4.2.223.1 so my computer can be protected? Thank you. View this thread

Gracias View this thread
