I've got the following error code 800705B4 when updating with Windows Update. what should I do? I've been trying many times to installed the selected update. View this thread

Have error 8024800A on three computers. After returning from vacation all machines come up with same error. Using Windows 7 home prem. SP1 Turned machines on this morning after being off since Feb 13, 2013. Tried rebooting many times. Updated Norton 360 and malwarebytes, neither program found errors. Also ran "Fix it". Tried to do a system restore to 2/5/2013 still same error. Any advise?? thank you View this thread

Installed two of three updates yesterday. Computer is set to update automatically but apparently it does not always work. The above mentioned update did not install. The is the second time this year alone that I have had this problem. I am not a computer "geek" so this is VERY frustrating. I have tried all the troubleshooting that I understand but do not feel comfortable disabling or turning off something in order to install an update. Just how important is this update? Also, after installing the updates when I went in to check for updates the computer now shows that I have NEVER checked for updates. My installed updates are a mile long. View this thread

Microsoft Security Essentials Alert says it detected potential threats that might compromise your security or damage your computer. You need to clean your computer immeditely to prevent system crash. But when I click on Clean Computer it says this program "security_scanner.exe (236KB) from yivnrin.fohra.com" is not normally downloaded and could be harmful. Microsoft Safety Scanner did not detect anything on a quick scan. View this thread

Hi, My name is Lyl & I have a question:I am looking into getting a Surface RT but I have a lot of programs [art programs and creative writing programs like Newnovelist] that work on Windows XP [which is what i have on my desktop computer] What I want to know is this: Will Windows XP work on a Surface RT or do i have to look into a laptop [hopefully one that is a light as a kindle for i have arthridus in my shoulder and i have a hard time lifting heavy things] that will be compatable with Windows XP? I am running an HP with Window 7 Home Premium and haven't updated in a good 8 months. I recently tried to update and I kept getting errors. ''Windows Update Service Not Running''... So I had tried to troubleshoot windows updates for any problems. After completion, it said that "Windows Updates Components Need to be Reparied'' so I went online and found a ''Fix it''... I clicked Run Now, it went for a few minutes then stopped working. I tried again and it poped up the same error message. Is there anyway I can fix Windows Updates so it does run properly without redoing my whole pc? Also, I went into the service folder in Administrator tools, cause I was still looking online for solutions to get updates working. 'Background Intelligent Transer Service'': says STATUS- started, STARTUP TYPE- Automatic (Delayed start) 'Windows Update'': says STATUS- blank, STARTUP TYPE- Automatic I had tried to click windows update and fix the settings to start, and popped up an error: ''Windows could not start Windows Update service on Local Computer. Ran the windows update tool because I was seeing a lot of failed updates, but now .... I keep getting promted to restart my computer because that's what it needs, yet there is no update history to view. Also, after the update tool runs, it configures windows and that fials and it reverts, to no history. No idea at all. Help. And I keep getting promted with the pop up for restarts ... but absolutely nothing happens on the restart. no configure, no please wait. Only logging off, and shutting down. i was unable to update patches for march. somewhere i got an error of 8024800a. i found an answer that said": will give you step by step instructions to get the issue fixed. a) Click on “Start” and type “cmd” (without the quotations). b) When you see the “cmd” icon, Right Click on it and select “Run as administrator”. c) On the open Command Prompt window copy and paste the commands (all at once) – net stop wuauserv net stop cryptSvc net stop bits net stop msiserver ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 catroot2.old net start wuauserv net start cryptSvc net start bits net start msiserver pause d) Wait for the process to complete. e) Close the Command Prompt. Updates for Windows 7 (64 bits) have failed to download. The error code that comes up is #80240216 for the Windows update KB2809289. I've tried doing everything the computer suggested with no luck and now my computer acts as if it has downloaded a virus. Any ideas out there? View this thread
