Since I don't like the Idea of Windows Live being removed I just might stay with Windows 7. Took me way too long to get Windows Live setup and don't have the time to do it again. I know where everything is at and don't want to lose those emails that I have saved. How long will windows 7 be supported if I choose not to upgrade to windows10 at this time. Computer Specs: Windows 7 64-Bit 8 GB RAM Intel i5-4670k Nvidia GTX 770 I haven't recently downloaded any new programs or AV programs. Windows Defender is turned off. When I click "Turn on now", I get the message "Action Center can't turn on Windows Defender. Please try again later." I tried searching for Windows Defender in both services and under msconfig, but it seems to be missing. Is there anyway to re-install Windows Defender? It seems like it is corrupted at this point and I am just willing to do anything at this point to turn it back on. View this thread

My name is Kevin, and my computer is infected with a virus. I ran scans with Malwarebytes, Spybot, and Kaspersky and they detected and removed 100+ infections. (Malwarebytes 100+ Kaspersky 0 and Spybot detected 2 browser infections with the last scan.) I deleted windows system and windows 32bit folders and recovered windows 8 via one key recovery, and rebooted and for some reason I cant upgrade to windows 8.1 still. (do not delete windows folders.) My CPU and memory still spike in background programs dealing with windows and I would like a step by step process of elimination for this virus I thought I had in Windows folders. View this thread

Hi, I keep having that problem too; call up a new tab, type in what I want and then if I click on something within that page it doesn't come up but what comes up is a new tab with a site called stamplive.com and it directs me to what is supposed to be a Norton page saying malware needs cleaning up and computer at risk. I try to clear it and it won't go, won't budge so having to close down. I have done real Norton scans, malwarebytes scans, got in touch with techies and they have cleaned it up but it's back on there again and I can't access my important sites I need to use every day as it's somehow blocked me getting onto them properly. The techie guy this morning said he thinks my internet explorer is corrupted, but said he can't do anything about that other than a whole machine reset and I will lose things off it. Has anyone any ideas how I can sort this..... it's been like it all week, frustratingly and I can't use my computer properly at all. I originally had something come up from a youtube music page I clicked on and something called Spitzee came up and it's what I think has caused the problem, but I haven't seen that name since, only stamplive.com Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I have a virus that creates "$RECYCLE.BIN" folders and "system volume Information" in all my folders and pen-drives. The virus also bring up some "hiberfil.sys" , "pagefile.sys" and "swapfile.sys" type files in local disc C:. It also added a "desktop.ini" file in all my folders of documents, downloads, music etc. What am I gonna doooo please tell me. I re-imaged my PC today. I reinstalled Windows 7 from the original disc and did the Windows Updates. When I tried to install IE 10 or 11, the message was I need Windows 7 Service Pack 1. Updates show that this was installed but it doesn't show under Computer Properties. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still no change to the problem. View this thread

For the past while, my computer kept telling me I had two updates to install, but neither of them would install. I had reserved Windows 10 when offline and did not receive an email address for confirmation of reservation. Now that I'm back online, I just want to know if I need to cancel my reservation and re-reserve it (if it is possible). I wouldn't like to cancel my reservation only to find out that I won't be able to reserve it again. It just doesn't feel right without confirmation and I really don't want to miss Windows 10. I have followed all scripts and tips posted on the forum. However I keep coming back to this issue. I see the update, and when I try to launch the 'reserve' button, nothing happens. I am running a stock 8.1 Dell Venue 8 Pro. I was previously using 'Workplace Join', but removed that setting. Hi folks, I have looked through a few threads but I am still unclear about the correct answer for my situation. And there are also different versions of Win8 (which I was not ware of and seem to affect the advice given). I originally had KASPERSKY PURE on my Win8.1 but it was causing so many issues that (since having my Win8.1 REFORMATTING last month), I have chosen to NOT install this particular ANTI VIRUS. It is my understanding that DEFENDER is an ANTI VIRUS of sorts but I am really not sure if this would be classed as a substitute? In any case I have DEFENDER ACTIVE and UPDATED. There is also MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS which is supposed to be free, however I am slightly confused (from what I have read in other threads) whether or not it already exists on my Win8.1 (by default)? MSE provided the following message: " "Windows found and removed from your computer. is malware that is designed to steal passwords. My anti-spyware keeps saying that a particular URL, www.pp3.cn, has been blocked. This typically happens when I restart my computer. I thought I could stop it once and for all by inserting the following line to the end of "C:WindowsSystem32driversetchosts": 127.0.0.1 www.pp3.cn No. It did not work. I find this window image when I open my InPrivate browsing window appearing since 3 days ago. This is not what I used to get previously. The link attached leads to a malware advert software download. I have a message saying that Windows Firewall has blocked some features of an app - it goes on to explain who and why, then it's two choices are 'allow access' and 'cancel.' Which do I want? If I say' allow' am I telling the firewall to allow the access to the app or am I allowing Firewall to stop it? View this thread
