Severity Rating: Critical Revision Note: V1.3 (June 3, 2015): Corrected the severity table and vulnerability information to add CVE-2014-4078 as a vulnerability addressed by this update. This is an informational change only. Customers who have already successfully installed the update do not have to take any action. Summary: This security update resolves one publicly disclosed and twenty-five privately reported vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. The most severe of these vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user. Customers whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights. View this security bulletin

This is my first time posting but read these forums all the time. I will try to be specific. This is a friends computer it is a HP G60 laptop running Vista Home Premium version 6.0.6002 service pack 2 build 6002. I got this computer to clean it out and generally make it run right. I started by removing the approximately 10 or more toolbars. Deleted many questionable programs. Installed Norton Comcast Internet Security Suite. Then began the several hundred it seemed microsoft updates. Also updated Norton at the same time Installed piroform Defraggler. and defragged over night. I also did updates to all the HP drivers from the computers HP webpage. No no problems until windows updater was down to two important and 2 optional updates. I worked out those problems . Everything is working nice also Norton found several threats including SAPE.IBryte.6d. Not sure thats exactly right since I had not set up printing yet. This and several others were actually found by Norton Eraser. It also found ilivid.com a threat and deleted it. CC Cleaner found over 1000 registry errors. I later revoved CC cleaners. Just to be sure it was all good before I gave it back to her I downloaded Microsoft Safety Scanner. I ran the full meal deal. It took about 9.5 hours to complete. It then said what I said in the title of this post. It hadfound Trojan:SymbOS/Fontal.B, It did not give the location of the file which I found slightly odd. It also said that it had been partially removed? what does partially remove mean? Just enough to **** it off? It then goes on to say that it can be detected and removed by Defender, Security Essentials and the Safety Scanner. It did not say partially remove it either. Since I have Norton installed I can not reenable defender or the windows firewall. I also know that 2 antivirus programs do not play nice with each other. I plan on removing Norton and installing Security Essentials and running a full scan. I also have keystroke Scrambler and Revo Uninstaller installed. Any ideas? I would appreciate any input or suggestions. View this thread

I don't know much about computers, but I know something is seriously wrong with mine. I'm not totally sure what's causing all the problems, but I think it started when I downloaded ClipGrab. Since the download, I find new 4-5 new installations on my computer every day, which I can remove in programs uninstall. ClipGrab, however, isn't in the file and I don't know how to uninstall it. It's no where to be found. Windows Defender isn't picking up anything when I run full scans. It's most recently disabled 'windows defender' and won't let me turn it back on, it does computer 'restarts and 'updates' whenever it wants and doesn't give me the option not too. Whenever that happens something new is always installed on my computer that I have to remove. It changes my online homepage and disabled internet explorer from working, and will only let me use chrome, which it downloaded on it's own. I tried a system restore and it was still there. I'm scared to use my computer and I'm worried it's not fixable. It's only like 4 months old! :( Help! View this thread

Today I noticed a new Windows icon in the toolbar. I was not pleased by this because it is not something I need to deal with. I checked Windows Update and saw that a marketing advertisement for Windows 10 is imploring me to reserve my copy. I do not intend to upgrade to Windows 10 because I vehemently disagree with Microsoft's push to integrate smart phones, tablets, and PCs in one smart phone GUI, which started in Windows 8. I will keep one PC running Windows 7 for music and other files, but I will move to Linux for the most part after Windows 7 is no longer supported. Find another way to market your new OS. Don't abuse Windows Update or the toolbar. Return it to the previous scheme where available updates are visible when Windows Update appears. Make Windows 10 an optional update. Eliminate the toolbar icon (yes, I know I can hide it but I want it gone from my PC). View this thread

1. Once I upgrade Win 7 to Win 10, will I still have Windows live Mail as it is now? Will all what belongs to Office remain as it is or I will have to reinstall Office? Sorry, I'm as weird as my question when it comes to technology... 2. Is the win 10 upgrade reversible to Win 7 is I'm not satisfied with it? View this thread

Hello. On an unfamiliar site, I accidentally clicked on something called GAME CRUSH and now my walware detector is constantly bringing up 5 to 10 malware finds per scan all starting with the same phrase, "Game Crush". They are deleted but same family of malware shows up. Can something be done to not experience this attack so much> It's creepy, View this thread

I am having trouble with MS Security Essentials. The scans get hung up about 90% through the progress bar. The scans get just so far and then stops part way through. The rotating icon continues but the clock (time elapsed) stops. Microsoft does not offer any support for this version. Any ideas out there??? View this thread

Why Update Now With Windows 10 on the Horizon
AWS posted a topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I have to ask this question because it is to obvious to me, yet I see no discussion of the topic. I understand that "every day that we run XP we are exposing ourselves to...", yet there is on MS approved vendor that is already offering three (3) months of free support for XP while the decision process is reviewed. While I leave most of the software issues at my main office pretty much up to the IT service that we employ for that purpose. Yes, I understand that there are many things that I can do myself so why pay others, as well as missing out on the learning curve? It is so simple that I will try to just answer it without much explanation. #1. They are under contract, which includes these things, so why should I chance making a mistake, and possibly causing the system to crash, or other disaster if I make a mistake, along the learning curve. All of the Partners, in our firm have agreed that at the principle office none of us is nearly as smart (about computer hardware, & software) as the firm we have retained to do the job, if we were we would (probably almost) never expend money on something that we could do ourselves; #2. We are each well-experienced in our fields, and as partners we support each other when their clients have a question the answer wo which resides within our minds, and not their mind or skillset. We each have an established billing rater per hour, and a case load that already has our individual assistants operating at 99.999% so there is no room for an additional workload (we are all scouring our alma mater to find "assistants to our assistants" or floaters, but as full-time employees as we create appropriate positions as "Associates" as a career path. That all sounds irrelevant until we look at the simple answer to Question #2, everyone here already is fully employed in their jobs, we each earn far more money at our professions, than leaving our desks, and our clients "hanging" while we work on something that know little about, losing a billable hour for every 60 minutes we spend in work outside our field, and only accomplishing only the equivalent of 20 minutes of actual work, so IT IS MORE EFFICIENT FOR PARTNERS TO WORK IN OUR FIELD AND LET IT TECH's WORK IN THEIRS' #3. This is the biggest question we have, Why are so many people, and firms so interested in upgrading to either Win8 (this makes absolutely no sense to me) or to Win8.1, when it appears that it is now -
My Dell computer was purchased in 2013. It was shipped with Mcafee, which was removed later on. In 2014, the original windows 8 was upgraded into windows 8.1. Recently I found whenever I click the update button, the update for virus and spyware definition failed. It says "check your internet or network connection and try again". But in fact, I have good internet connection. The detailed information reveals "error code 0x80004004". The Action Center also shows two red area and says "Windows Defender is turned off". The Windows Update seems still working automatically, and Windows Defender can be automatically started. I spent two full days and tried all the methods listed in misc articles. All failed. Very exhausting. (1) Tried every tool of the anti-virus software removal list, plus some tools in other articles of community forum. (2) Tried manually install the definition. The problem did not go away. (3) Tried every step in "Problems starting Windows Defender in Windows 8/8.1", such as sfc, clean boot, registry clean, etc. The problem still there. The only method I haven't tried yet is to refresh. Since the instruction asks for CD, my computer didn't come with a CD. I am afraid of bigger trouble during refresh. Further, Windows Defender is the only trouble now. I still hope for a fix before doing the refresh. View this thread
