I recently put a new hard drive in a 7-year-old Acer Aspire E-380 desktop and then I updated the OS (Vista) to Service Pack 2. 1. Do I also need to go to Acer's website to update the drivers or were they updated automatically with the OS? 2. I plan on installing Windows 7 on the computer. Is updating the drivers necessary either before installation or after? 3. If I do need to update the drivers, I've found several Acer sites where driver updates are offered. I have 2 brand new computers, one Dell laptop and other Acer all-in-one Touchscreen with Windows 8. They initially came with McAfee Security Suite which has now been uninstalled. I am now having issues with Windows Update and Windows Defender Update. Neither will complete. I get error messages. Windows Defender Update downloads the updates but when it goes to install it comes back with error that could not complete due to connection might have failed. I have tried this several times in the past month and still same result and yes I have checked my internet connection.Windows Update hangs at 75% of downloading the updates and does nothing. Windows update keeps failing to load KB2727587 and gives an error code 0x8024200d. I have used the update readiness tool and the automatic troubleshooter, neither of which worked. I have run a clean boot which also did not fix it. I am not aware of any recent changes to the software or any new installations. I am using windows 7 home premium 32bit.
