I'm running Vista Home Premium on a 4 year old NEC Versa P8310. Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2Ghz with 2GB RAM. Windows Update has been running constantly for 2 hours and is still saying checking for updates. When I go to http://update.microsoft.com it says Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer When I try to the recommended reinstall or repair files it brings up Error number: 0x80070002. The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem. I have tried Microsoft Fixit that says it needs to repair Windows Update, it says it succeeds but am still unable to get windows updates. I have tried renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder for it to manually reinstall but no success. Have even tried downloading the standalone Windows Update install client, still to no avail. I have also run Trend HouseCall, Microsoft Security Essentials and malwareBytes and they have all come back clean. can someone please help me? View this thread

I have dell inspiron 15r SE with i7 and amd graphics with Windows 8 core edition OEMI recently did a windows update and after restarting my laptop I noticed that my laptop is running a bit slow. The Boot up time and also the start up time increased, especially the booting time.It was my first windows update since i got this computer. I have now restored my windows before Windows Update now it in previous state before the update and its running same as before the update and I am happy now. I would wait for few months and then again update windows to see if it happens again.Why this happens is there any particular update responsible for this? View this thread

I tried booting up my HP Pavilion G4. HOwever, instead of the usual startup, it goes into a screen that asks me to select the language, after i select the language, it asks me to choose the keyboard layout. After im done selecting everything, i am given an option to Exit and continue to windows 8. However, when i click that option, it does not load to the desktop and instead keeps repeating itself (As in it keeps going back to the language selection and keyboard layout selection). I believe it was after a recent windows update but i am not sure what it was. Please help me!! I cant reformat my laptop as i have not backup my essential work files on my laptop! View this thread

I have recently noticed that my screen is flickering and seems very dim. Changing color settings, brightness, gamma, etc. does not fix my problem. I tried to use a restore point and update the graphic card driver; however, it did not fix the issue. The most recent windows update resulted in the deletion of some files associated with the graphics card. This has happened to me once before with the wireless internet capabilities; however, a restore point fixed the problem. Please help and thank you! View this thread

It seems like these updates (KB2742613, KB2729460, KB2737083) disable my external mouse settings (Microsoft Explorer mini mouse). The mouse doesnt work after these updates are installed and I keep getting 'USB device malfunctioned'. No it didnt' Your update did. Uninstalling these 'untested, poorly written and released just because sprint ended' updates, removes the issue and mouse works fine!My network admin set up my machine to install updates automatically and every morning I have to uninstall these KB updates to have the mouse working again. I have a Windows Vista Home Premium laptop. Since I got it in 2008, it has NEVER successfully performed a Windows Update of the Vista Service Pack #1. It has failed every time, causing (I believe) the WINSXS directory to grow to a whopping 97GB (of a 140GB hard drive. The error code I just got was 80091007. My laptop is a fine computer, and I mostly use it to browse the web. It seems silly to junk the laptop just because Vista updates NEVER work, causing (I believe) my Hard Drive to just get increasingly cluttered until it chokes. Help !!! View this thread

I need help with the Error Code 8007370D I have not used my computer in at least three months and I click on Windows Update since the computer has not been active for at least 90 days and I get the message "error Code 8007370D" I have tried all the suggested resolutions to the problem with all the appropriate reboots and nothing works.
