I can't run Windows Update or the Security Center Service For WinUp the error code is 80072EFD I have Norton 360 and I have added the links below to both N360 firewall and Windows Firewall. (00000000) I even tried to download http://www.update.microsoft.com/v9/1/windowsupdate/redir/muv4wuredir.cab from my browser and it downloads And also I think it may have something to do with the security center service not working In the action center it asks me to turn it on but a messages says The Windows Security Center Service Cannot Be Started In services.msc when i try to start it it says error 1079 It is currently logged in with Network service I go to one of its dependencies (Windows Management Instrumentation)and it is logged in as local system account with desktop interaction so I try to change SecCenters login to that but when i try to start it another error 1083 Thats all and thanks in advance View this thread

I have a persistant problem with failed Windows updates on KB267652 and KB2724197. My OS is Win7pro64sp1 (the DVD install included SP1). At the moment, Windows update is only presenting these two important Security Updates for Windows 7 for x64 Systems. I read error code comments that suggest maybe a virus or malware or root-kit is present, but safe mode TDSkiller and Malwarebytes and MS Security scans don't detect anything. Previous OS use is minimal. The OS was first installed in May 2012, wasn't activated at first (long story), Windows Updates were brought up to current status in May 2012, no major apps were installed, an Acronis image captured that status back in May, that image was restored on Feb 7, 2013 and the OS was activated/authenticated, some basic utilties updated or downloaded/installed such as CCleaner, Malwarebytes, MS Security Essentials, total scans were ok, started doing Windows Updates, over 80 were installed without issue, two interim images made during that process, no surfing was done so limited opportunity to get infected, Java is not installed. I made an image just prior to attempting the two subject updates (KB2676562 and KB2724197). Tried downloading the KB items and doing a direct install, both failed. Tried disabling the update service, renaming the Software Distribution folder, then turning the service back on to create a fresh folder. Again, the updates failed with error message 80070026. Very frustrating because this would seem to otherwise be a very, very, clean OS install ... so far. Any suggestions to resolve this would be appreciated. Does anyone know why this happened? Called ASUS they didn't know how to fix it (They wanted me to do a re install i said no thanks) so i messed around for a while and did get it to boot back up. But why did this happen Is this Intel's, ASUS's, or Windows fault? I don't have a back up drive so things like this suck. Don't have anything important on the hard drive but there are like 25 GB of movies it kinda sucks when this happens. Update info from windows. I reinstalled the operating software a week ago as I had a hard drive failure. Microsoft update was working until the last set of updates. Since it has been installing a lot of updates I am unsure what update is causing the failure. The code is error 8024402f and I have tried the microsoft fix it download, previous questions on this forum as well as answers / suggestions on google. Security Update for Windows Vista 32 bit ( KB 2753842 ) has now failed 58 times. Error Code 800b0100 . I have looked at all error help facilities and run Systems Update Readiness Tool. It tried to load Hotfix for Windows which failed twice but on the third attempt it down loaded, but this has not solved the problem of KB 2753842. Can anyone help? View this thread

I opened MS Windows Update yesterday to install some new updates, but I first checked the Update History, and that now shows only one update, a Definition update KB2310138 (Definition 1.143.1662.0), installed automatically sometime earlier yesterday. Perhaps due to logging to a potentially dangereous adresses my PC was contaminated by a couple of various kind of viruses. Microsoft Security Essentials detected them and removed from the partition C:/ as adviced. Unfortunately neither trials to update the definition of the viruses library used by the program nor switching it on to secure the PC against future contaminations was possible. I am having problem with installing security update KB2779562 & KB2778930 I am getting error code 80073701 and 800736B3. I have search the internet for any possible solution but nothing has worked so fare. I have tried with FIX tool, with reset_reregister_windows_update, reset_windows_update_history. I have tried to download the updates manually. I have tried to uninstall all .NET and install again. Does anyone have any suggestions? /Henrik View this thread

You have upgraded me to Outlook. I do not want it and wish to go back to Windows live acc't but one thing is missing with the new Outlook there is no gear Icon for me to switch back.
