when I click check for update or check for update managed by your system administrator or check online for updates from Microsoft update. there is always getting error(s) found code 80240038 windows ran into a problem . MSE does not uninstall after trying all registry fixers, and all helpful tips. I get error code 0x80070715. Tried appremovers in safe mode. Ran fix it, and now need a better set of suggestions. XP machine, error on boot- Security center indicates Virus protection is off. Un-install indicates a file is missing, but no choices to locate it. Re-install will not work due to the detected MSE existing install. I did a resore to the oldest date. How do I get it off or stop launch so I can re-install. View this thread

The program detected a program that tried to sell me something. I told it to revove it, which it did, but told me to restart the computer first. I did and everytime I go to the computer to check my emails, it tells me again that the same program is still there and ask me to remove it. Again, I have to restart the computer and the cycle continues. View this thread

I keep getting the above error message each time I try to install updates for .NET framework 1.2 service pack 1. I am running Windows XP. I also keep getting a repeat of KB253842 every time I turn on my computer it wants to update the same one (Security update for visual C++2005 service pack 1 redistributable package). Is it a coinsidence that ever since I downloaded and installed an update (Update for Windows Vista KB959108), that my printer no longer prints?The printer has ink, goes through all the machinations, puts nothing on the paper it spits out, and was working fine before the update.Any ideas? From the explosive growth of my CBS.log file it turned out that something goes wrong with finding or installing (window) updates The cbslog grows above 1 GB, sometimes within some hours, even if a new one is made (and the old one stored as CBSpersist_date). It seems to be caused bij some specific language modules. My computer is a desktop, W8 on SSD (64GB), factory installed, HDD 2TB, memory 8 GB, core i7. If i run SFC, than a set of files of 6 languages (packages in various KBupdates) is repaired. After that, the problems is away for some hours or a day, with only small additions to CBS.log. But then it explodes again, and grows within short time by 100's of MB. It seems to be related to new updates, which seem to be installed succesfully. Maybe the cbs explosion starts just by some routine check by the system (CBS?). The pc also seems to adjust windows during restart more than usual, not only after an update or SFC. But not always, so at some moments all seems to be ok. It looks as if SFC must repair some language-specific components, i think even always the same languages (hu, fr, da, es , fi, nb). (SFC finishes all these repairs succesfully) . You see these languages also appear frequently in the CBS.log -lines of before the SFC-run. I don't know the exact procedures, but it seems that a number (or all) of the language-specific components or files for a task are checked one by one, to see if there's something new about them and if packages or maps to copy them from are present. For the 6 languages that later sfc must repair, you often see a line parent found for (name file or map), State: absent. For the other languages (if checked) the corresponding line is "no parent found, go absent". Updatenames are also mentioned; during one and the same CSB.log explosion several KBnumber are mentioned, although it seems KB2756872 is always involved, also when the event starts again some time after an SFC run. This KB2756872 is -according to update history, already installed since october 2012, so in the factory. My question is: does someone recognize this (kind of) problem, and what is the solution? Because as long as this is not solved, i can not make a basic image to restore to, as the underlying problem will be inhereted forever then... I did not install any personal software yet, only the programs originally installed by the factory (as is W8, OEM, with recovery partition on hard disk). Underneath I add some lines from the CBS.log. First the repairmessage of SFC (for 1 language, for the other 5 languages it is similar patron). Then an axample of the 2 lines from CBS.log before running SFC, for one of the problem-languages. For comparition, also the same line for a correct' language. In the end some lines about an invalid package, that are quite in the beginning of an "explosive" cbs-run. (HResult= 0x800f0805 - CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE). Could this have to do with the problem, or can i neglect it? It would appear that after the Windows Updates of January 2013, several of my network computers running Windows 7 are reporting "No internet access", specifically on their WLAN. This is all despite them having the correct DHCP IP address and DNS servers. Did any of those recent updates include anything that would cause this? Other PCs on the network (non-Win7) are still working just fine.I have to mention prior to January 2013, the aforementioned PCs were connected to network w/o issue. View this thread

This is NOT a question and I give up on Microsoft products. I am entering this from my iPad mini. I didn't think I would be going back to Apple for my laptop but I most probably will. Here's the deal: I had been using windows 8 and Ubuntu on a Sony vaio, however the preview version expired and I really didn't think it was worth the price of the upgrade-hey maybe if it was twenty bucks like an Apple OS upgrade I would have sprung for it? Anyway I reinstalled 7 and was happy with the simpler to use interface until I was rudely reminded of one of seven's maddening features. I'm writing a long reply to a friend in online email when suddenly everything is closed up and windows starts installing updates. You have to be kidding me right?!!!! No it's not just vista or eight or any other number of things M$ got wrong their whole focus is way WAY off. I remember this feature that is my personal camel's straw. Just close up whatever the user is doing and without any warning or dialogue box start what's really important-which is what Microsoft devs have deemed important. If Microsoft hadn't had the advantage of being the only option in the early days of computing they wouldn't be in the position they are now. I so hope that doesn't continue. Goodbye! For the past two months i am trying to install this update(Update for windows driver framework version 1.11 for wondows vista (KB2761494) )but after restarting the computer it everytime fails to install ; and "reverts the changes"; i have windows vista as OS. This problem is with a new Lenovo laptop with Windows 8. It has never successfully installed updates. It is set for automatic updates and these are downloaded (26 update files), then the computer re-starts and attempts to configure the updates. every time it gets to 15% I get the error message 'Failure configuring windows updates'. I have run the updates trouble shooter as an administrator and although it does a couple of fixes the configuration problem is not fixed. I have run a health check on the laptop and everything passes OK. I cannot find any advice about this, so I hope someone can help. View this thread
