I am hoping to use the latest iso-9660 security file to update my fresh xp install. So i need to know if the updates are cumulative, ie if i download the latest iso file and use it to update a fresh xp professional install, will it install all the updates that would be installed through windows update online or would i have to go back and download all the update files seperately to get a complete set? This is really tiresome. I am allowed to buy legitimate Office through work (NHS) and I am happy with Office 203. I buy a new computer with Windows 8 and it insists on me buying Office 2010 when I do not need it. I have loaded Office 2003 onto the new computer but when I try to download any files Windows 8 will not let me save it unless I do it through Office 2010. Frustrating! View this thread

I have a Windows 7 (64) Laptop that is only 2 months old. The updates are not happening and the update fix, fixes errors but I am still unable to get it to update. This has been an ongoing problem since the installation of this laptop with the client. I have a copy of the Windowsupdate log file if required to view. MS Vista Home Premium SP2 32 bit 2 GHz 2 GB Ram I ran windows update and during the installation got error messages 8000FFFF and 643. Followed the FixIt program 50202, restarted computer. Windows Update error 8000FFFF and 643. Manually configured registery, Registery entries in troubleshooter were not present. Restarted computer; Windows Update error 8000FFFF and 643. Ran scandisk and followed setup to run after restart. Restarted computer; Windows Update error 8000FFFF and 643. Run system restore. System would only go back to 13 Jan 2013. I'm trying to delete any unnecessary programs that are on my computer and I may no longer need. "Add/Remove programs" shows the following and I don't know if I need to keep them all. All 4 start with the same prefix: MSXL 4.0 SP2. But each shows a different "KB" #: 927978, 936181, 954430 & 973688. What do I need to do in this situation and possibly when any updates are installed of any kind, not just these "MSXL" updates? Do I EVER delete the prior ones? This is the message I get when trying to download updates from Windows. Windows Update recognizes that there are updates available and that my system is not up to date but when I try to download those update I get these error codes. I've tried using the Systems and Security "Fix the problems with Windows Update" which finds issues and says they're repaired but with no different end result. Anyone have any suggestions? Everytime I try to check Windows Update through the Control Panel it will crash and make me restart it from Task Manager, nothing but TM will fix it. Also nothing I download that needs installing will, it does not give me an option to 'Run'. When I start the computer, I get an error message that server cannot be found for Microsoft Security Essentials Prerelease. Clicking on the icon provides the same error message. I have tried to download it again, but the new version cannot remove the old version from the hard drive for the download. Now my computer is without protedtion. There is another problem I have. I understand the concerns about the Java security vulnerability, but now I believe a fix has been promulgated. But everytime I open Internet Explorer I get a banner/window requiring permission for Java to run. How do I all Java to run without getting the permission to make changes to my computer window? I just want to create an exception for Java and don't want to reduce the level of security notices. I tried adding the subdirectory for Java under programs but that didn't work.
