OS Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 The following update failed to install. I've tried many different things to try to get this update to install but everything has failed so far. I had not noticed that this update has failed to install since March 2010. I finally decided that I needed to see if I could get it to install. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hello. I have Windows 7 64 bit. Occasionally some "optional" (not "required") security or driver updates from Windows update, fail during install. This has happened sporadically for months. I thought nothing much of it as performance didn't seem effected, and they weren't labelled required but I want to make certain everything is updated and I don't have a virus that's going to blow up in my face. I wonder if I have two related problems: I use Security Essentials and when I do a virus scan it does not let me do a full scan, it hangs always on CodeIntegrity. It let's me automatically and manually update the program, do a custom scan of everything else, do a quick scan, and do a custom scan of only CodeIntegrity with no problems reported. I have checked device manager and all devices are telling me that the driver software is current and there are no updates. I'm a little confused about how to completely uninstall a video driver and then still be able to get fresh install of that if needed. Please let me know any additional information you might need and how to obtain it. I remember I did at one point months ago have some spyware, which Security Essentials allowed me to delete. I recognized the software which it had sneaked in on. I wish I remembered what it was called or wrote it down, but I properly uninstalled the program from control panel, and deleted the associated folder. I suppose this may have caused a registry problem? I only know enough to know I don't want to be messing with the registry... I tried ESET online scanner, which didn't help. I did the same thing and completely uninstalled it and removed the folder - but I guess that probably left a registry key also. Most Windows updates install with no issues. I received error code 800F0203 for this last one, which is for graphics adapter WDDM1.1 and WDDM1.2, it says. I use no other virus or spyware software except Security Essentials (and Windows Firewall). View this thread

Hello everyone, a few days ago I had to update my definitions manually. I noticed at the bottom with the Network Inspection System, this was the part which I got confused the most. It says "If you are running Microsoft Security Essentials build 2.0.0375.0 or higher, you also need to download the following Network Inspection System definitions". I looked at my MSE > Help > About MSE, but it says everything else except the build version. I dont know when, the website means "Build" it means "Engine". I'll post what MSE showed: Antimalware Client Version: 4.1.522.0 Engine Version: 1.1.9103.0 Antivirus Definition: 1.143.1411.0 Antispyware Definition: 1.143.1411.0 Network Inspection System Engine Version: 2.1.8904.0 Network Inspection System Definition Version: 18.36.0.0 Any help? Thanks, Terish View this thread

My MSE always says it is updated but then it catches a virus and I research that virus only to be told that my MSE is not updated to the latest version. The information given on this latest virus says it is was discovered a month ago so this gives me the impression that my MSE has not been updating automatically for that whole month?? If I manually update my definitions and spyware so far I can do this once a day or more and new definitions are always found. Isn't it supposed to be done automatically? Thank you for your help to figure this out. View this thread

Vista: all updates download and all updates fail installation and configuration. Ran Fix It, checked firewalls, nothing works. In the last week I have spent close to 20 hours on this, downloaded many gigs of data, hundreds of updates which have all failed. Each update failure has a different error code, so it's all but impossible to invest who knows how many hours researching each individual failure. This is my sister's laptop that I "volunteered" to help with, and as far as I can tell there has been only a few updates that actually installed successfully since she bought it just about 3 years ago. How do I repair Windows Update for her? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dave View this thread
