My pc is infected by a virus called "system Progressive Protection 3.7.17. It will not allow me to run any virus or malware removal. What can I do? View this thread

I'm not sure why, but about a week ago the sys tray icon just stopped appearing. I checked the Select which icons and notifications appear on the taskbar and the only thing that might apply is the Microsoft Security Client User Interface, which is set to show icon and notifications. No specific option for Security Essentials. I just like to see the green shield at all times so I know I have real time protection. Window 7 Home Premium, SP1 View this thread

I just purchased a HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC with Windows 8. It also came with Norton Anti-Virus that I do not wish to install. But both the Norton and Microsoft Security essentials show they are turned off. It allows me to turn on the Norton if I want, but it won't turn on the Essentials. Is one part of the other? Při hraní online hry Battlefield Play4Free, se někdo naboural na můj počítač a začal pohybovat postavou vojáka ve hře, měnit zbraně a dokonce začal psát, tak jako bych to psal já svým spoluhráčům ve hře. Používám Avira free antivirus, ale ten vůbec na to nereagoval. Windows Defender je zaplý, vše mám aktualizováno. Mohl by mi někdo pomoci, jak se těmto útokům bránit? Děkuju Povala View this thread

I clicked on a link that took me to 'Regwork.com' . I did a scan they recommended, which found 1400 (approx) faults/errors that were slowing down my computer. Then I registered and paid Euro 60.00 (about $85 USD) to download the software they recommended. Date was 20th December 2012. I noticed no difference to performance of my PC after paying for, and downloading their software. I don't know if this was a potential scam, or not. My printer Hp Officejet 4500 G510g-n will not print since installing windows8, the paper just goes through without writing on the page. The DVD on this laptop also will not play DVDs anymore. All of this worked before windows8. Thanks in advance for your help. View this thread

Hi there I have a major problem with my new laptop. First things first I am running windows 8 and I set the laptop up in a gmail account and ever time I try to verify the email account I get an error message saying the service is down and it has been saying this since Christmas day. I have 13 updates for Windows 8 that I can't install. You know how frustration can nearly drive you to smash your computer? Me = on the verge. I don't know technical lingo, and I'm nearly at my wits-end here hoping someone might be able to help me. Basically, I've run through the possibility that it might my USB drive that wasn't working, but now I see it's ANY USB that goes into my computer since the "failed Windows 7 updates" - which I have no idea why they won't install. I've re-installed them, restarted the computer, run diagnostic programs as suggested by Microsoft aids, installed each update separately, and neither update will actually work. Installed a new hard drive and new Win 8 Pro. Then installed a photo editing program that had ran fine under XP. It would not run under Win 8, and would not deinstall, so I manually deleted the directory and desktop icon, but I did not delete common file. After rebooting Win 8, I got "rundll32.exe - Entry Point Not Found" error. My thanks to the Community. I never did find Java Control Panel but deleted all Java programs and then used Hitman Pro and it took the Trojan Medfos out of my computer so that now I am clean again. View this thread
