  2. I have successfully integrated Office Web App Server with my SharePoint 2013, and Exchange 2013 servers, I'm right now trying to get integration between Lync 2013 and Office Web App server going, but i'm encountering an error when trying to present powerpoint documents. "Some sharing features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues" I can confirm that LS Data MCU event IT 41032 on the Lync Server, and have restarted my Lync FE server. On the WAC Server I'm noticing the following error occurs when trying to share a powerpoint: Event code: 3008 Event message: A configuration error has occurred. 3. I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2.0 installed. I have tried numerous times (in vain) to update to Windows XP Service Pack 3. I have gone to the Windows Update site and continue to get an error. I have downloaded and run FixIt, but to no avail. How the heck can I resolve this to get the update? View this thread

  6. I wonder if there are any Microsoft licensing/activation experts out there who can give me a definitive answer on this one. I need to be able to work from two locations (one in the UK and one abroad), moving between them every few weeks. I shall be travelling by air so need a lightweight solution - I can't just put the computer in the car. I'm thinking of building two identical computers, one for each location, with a hot-swappable drive (probably SSD). The theory is that I should be able to simply take the disk out, get on a plane, plug the disk in at the other end, and carry on working where I left off. As far as I can gather from various forums, this should be technically possible. The only problem is Windows 7 licensing/activation. Is this legal use of a Windows license? And will I be forced to re-activate Windows every time I switch machines? Obviously since the machines will be self-build, it'll be a full Windows (not OEM) licence. I'd even purchase two licences, if need be - although one would probably remain in its shrinkwrap unless there's a way of installing two licences on one machine. (Please don't suggest I use a laptop / remote desktop instead: there are good reasons that neither of those would work.) Thanks for any advice you can provide. View the thread

  8. Hi, I need a urgent help regarding this below situation. As per my understanding when even OS initiated Shutdown or Reboot, it must process through _TTS, _PTS, _GTS like ACPI control method, which helps BIOS also to do some stuffs in order to handle some condition. But in Win8 I become wondered when I saw OS initiated Shutdown or Reboot process but didn't call _TTS method that I have written in my ACPI code to handle some condition before OS inform its native drivers about Sleep state. But I saw _PTS method gets call. Can you please let me know does it is expected behavior in Win8 shutdown or reboot or its my mistake in understanding the flow. If I'm right I would also like to know, is there any mechanism available in BIOS(ACPI) side (similar to _TTS) to be called before informing OS native driver about OS Sleep state. I want to disable some portion of ACPI code, based on OS decision to go for Shutdown or reboot but before OS driver gets called. Thanks, Subrata View the full article

I believe I followed all the correct procedures to upgrade the KMS to license 2013, but how do I know that it is working aside from installing office? Is there any commands I can run to verify correct installation or if DNS is configured properly? Thanks Troy TIA Troy View this thread

  16. Ok, I'm probably not the first person to ask about this. Why on earth, can I not see any of my connected network printers under 'Devices and Printers' of Windows 8? The devices are without question, 100% connected and registered with the OS, as evidenced from their presence within the 'Print Queues' section of Device Manager, and various software packages, when accessing the 'Print' dialog. I can't even find any evidence of the printers within Print Management! What is going on? View the full article
  17. I like Win8.... The Metro Apps are similar to other OSs, with Apps being the primary focus. The only thing, is that if MS is going to radically change the interface for Windows, the new metro apps should at least work correctly. The metro weather app is spastic. Originally- when I purchased this PC in December 2012, I was able to list 2-3 cities. Then for some reason, the metro weather app defaulted to the first listed, with a lot of different interesting info for it. But the 'other cities' option was lost, to view weather for the other cities I listed. Then two weeks later, the 'other cities' option was displayed again.... I listed other cities, and the metro weather app proudly and correctly displayed weather for different cities as listed. Now, the metro weather app has reverted to display only the first city, again with no option displayed to navigate to other cities. It's a little bit crazy. I don't know about the other metro apps, as I don't really use them currently. Not that I think it's the computer, but this is on a Toshiba S855-S5378. View the full article
  18. Greetings, Iam running Windows 8 Professional on my laptop. I have noticed that live tiles not updating at all (Such as weather, mail, etc etc) They are suppose to right at least on regular intervals. For example I login into my account and computer is connected to internet but it shows weather temperature from yesterday or when was the last time I opened weather app. As soon as I open weather all it updates and stays like that until next time I open it. Same with Mail and other tiles. It is really annoying because I like the idea of metro but its no use if it doesn't update. Does any one knows how to fix it? I looked at other topics but couldnt find anything. View the full article

  21. We're having an issue on multiple Windows 8 Pro machines in our office where after an extended period of time users will lose their desktop wallpapers and their desktops will go blank/black with the icons still shown. When you hover over the icons, the desktop wallpaper will start to reappear behind the icons you have hovered across - and when you right click on the desktop and hit refresh, the wallpaper will come back. This issue is occurring on a mixture of systems with both NVIDIA Graphic Cards and ATI Graphic Cards - both running the latest driver versions. (All users have Local Profiles on their workstations - we do not use Roaming Profiles) View the full article
  22. Hi, I upgraded to office 2013 from office 2010 and Designed a document with shapes ordered like a Directional Pad (ADB commands) but when printing from Word 2013, two or more of those shapes are not shown in the print. Getting the same results with PDF and XPS file printing, printed the same document created with Word 2013 on the same machine with Word 2010 also installed and it printed just fine on Word 2010. So, the problem is Word 2013, but want to know what is it and how can I fix it? Please help me ASAP, I use Word a lot for on-school work and need it so badly. Anyway, Thanks in advance. 25. I am trying to script the installation of Office 2013 over the top of an existing Office 2007 installation. REM ********************************************************************* REM Get ProductName from the Office product's core Setup.xml file, and then add "office15." as a prefix. set ProductName=Office15.STANDARD REM Set DeployServer to a network-accessible location containing the Office source files. set DeployServer=\DEPLOYMENTPATH REM Set LogLocation to a central directory to collect log files. set LogLocation=DEPLOYEMNTPATHLogFiles REM ********************************************************************* REM Deployment code begins here. Do nothing. :End EndLocal I call this script from a GP Startup Script. I created the MSP file using the OCT. When I boot the computer it will run the O2013 installer and then finishes and gets to the CTL-ALT-DEL prompt, but when I logon to the computer it still reports O2007 is installed. If I reboot the computer then O2013 installer runs again and when it finishes and I logon it reports O2103 is now installed. My problem is that I have found noway to get the computer to reboot automatically after the O2013 installer first runs. Setting the OCT value SYSTEM_REBOOT=AUTOALWAYS does not force a reboot. Adding the command SHUTDOWN /r /t 0 to the end of the logon script does not do anything. After the O2013 installer finishes it does not appear that any more script commands are executed and no further GP Startup script processing occurs. Anyone got any advice on how I can force the reboot so that the second installer action takes effect before the user logs on? View this thread
