Hi Guy's, Just wondering if I can get some help on this issue. I recently bought a Toshiba P850/040 laptop and upgraded to Windows 8 (Originally a Windows 7 Home Premium PC). I just recently found that I have a driver error, which is my DVD/BLU-RAY player (MATSHITA BD-MLT UJ260B). Anything out there to fix the problem? Would be the upgrade to Windows 8 that mucked it up? Hello I am developing a windows 8 metro app that will be running as a stand alone app on the machine it is running on. Hi people,When trying to print a document in a pdf format, the "pdf converter" printer has dissapeared form the printing options. Does anybody know how to restore it or where to download it from? Is it a tool included in Windows7 or in any other free Adobe product? The fact is that I was used to print office documents in pdf and suddently it has dissapeared from my computer and I don't know how to recover it.Thanks in advance.AMF View the thread

Jan 18, 2013 Windows Update does not work. I get "Error 0x80246008". HP update does not work. I get message "access denied". ---------------------------- I followed instructions on the error window that explains how to remedy the problem. I ran Fix It several times. The message said "Windows Update components must be repaired", but does not tell me how. Found how to verify Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) but COULD NOT find it on my computer. I renamed the windows update download folder. I have logged in as administrator. None of these have worked. The only changes that have been made on my computer is to uninstall and reinstall JAVA after the security alert and an update on PDF Adobe files. Everything else seems to be functioning. I have worked on this for over 8 hours now and am more confused than ever. Does anyone have any suggestions, PLEASE? View this thread

My genuine copy of Windows XP has been running for years on the same laptop. A message has now been showing for a couple of days, stating I am a victim of software counterfeiting. I have original software package, including CD and license seal with me. What should I do? My laptop and Windows XP are still good enough for my home, personal use. Is this some sort of hoax, some sort of bait for me to download and install fake updates, for example? I would appreciate suggestions and instructions on how to resolve the problem. Many thanks. Hi All: I have a new build with a fresh installation of Windows 7 Professional. Only hard drive is a 120GB SSD with a single partition, set up as C: drive My C: drive properties show 96.0GB used and 15.6GB free. This struck me as way too much used space given what I've done on the computer so far. If I go into the C: drive, unhide all files and folders, select all folders, and right-click | properties, I see total size of only 27.1GB. Any ideas where all of the other 96.0GB-27.1GB=68.9GB is hiding out on my hard drive? Thanks!DDB View the thread

At one point yesterday it succeeded and I had my desktop up, the hard drive was running fine while wireless access was disabled with the manual switch. But after I turned wireless on and updated the Norton antivirus software, it started back in on this continual cycle of System Repair again. I can't find this particular bugcheck code using Google. The old Programmes and data were on my computer along with my new ones. When my computer went in to have a virus removed they must have compressed? my old programmes and one of the folders is showing $NTUninstallMSCompPackV1$ some sort of uninstall software. I purchased and downloaded $39.95 upgrade from XP to Windows 8 for my laptop which has a new hard drive installed (old one died, good time to upgrade OS). Because I have the new formatted drive on the laptop, I had to downloaded Windows 8 upgrade from Microsofts website using my other desktop computer and was planning on burning it to a disk to install on the laptop. Downloaded fine, when completed left an icon on the desktop. When I click on the icon I get a menu with two choices, Install Now or Install Later From The Desktop. I saw a screenshot on another forum which showed this same menu with a third option To Burn To Another Media, mine dosen't show this third option, which is what I need. I don't want to install this on my desktop computer. No option for copying or burning to another media and I cannot locate the file anywhere on my desktop computer. My problem is that Windows 8 cuts off part of the the top and bottom of the display on the screen. I've looked for display settings to change things. I can't find anything. More detail: First, this is really easy for me to see because I use two computers with a KVM switch. One is running Windows 8 and the other is running Windows 7. The Windows 8 computer was upgraded from Windows 7. When the Windows 8 computer was running Windows 7, everything worked fine and no hardware was changed! Since it has been upgraded (... and ... I think that using the term "upgrade" for what has happened to that poor machine is an injustice and a lie ...) the image is fuzzier and the very top and bottom of the display is cut off. There is just enough visible so I can still click the icons, but it certainly looks bad. How can I fix this so I can see the entire image in Windows 8? ------------------------------------------------ I'm writing this message on the Windows 7 machine because WINDOWS 8 SUCKS! For several days now, when I start my system in the morning ... YES! I insist on shutting down at night. I think Microsoft is TOTALLY WRONG in making it so HARD to shut down Windows 8 relative to Windows 7. The method I use is to go to Settings > Power > Shutdown. Wait for the monitor to turn off. Then press and hold the power button on the PC which initiates a hardware shutdown. ... the system does a "Scanning and Repairing Drive" ... Which takes five minutes or so but has always completed successfully and then Windows 8 boots normally. What is happening? Should I be doing something differently? View the full article
