Hi, I have realized that, after upgrading my W7 to W8, a new folder called "Default.migrated" has appeared in the C:Users path The question is: Can I remove this "Default.migrated" folder safely? (as I have already done with Windows.old and $WINDOWS.~BT folders) Thanks in advance for the info. Regards. View the full article

My icons are locked in place for some reason. I'm not adverse to this, accept that I didn't knowingly cause it to happen. I would like to unlock them, arrange them to my liking and relock them in place. Is this possible, or is this yet another Microsoft fluke? God Bless, Mark A. Suddenly, I am not able to play videos...have never had a problem before. The message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." My o/s is Win 7 Professional x64; processor is AMD quad core 640 in a Gigabyte 880 GMA-UD2H main board; ATI Radeon HD 4250. I have no idea what might have changed to cause this. HELP! View the thread

View the thread

I am running Office 2013 (with Windows 7 pro) and installed it two weeks ago. For over a week there were no problems with Microsoft Outlook. Then one day I started my computer and got the above error message. I have tried starting in safe mode and the navigation pane fix and neither one worked, I just get the same error. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled all of office. The rest of the office products are running fine. View this thread

I purchased a netbook with a scaled down version of Windows 7. I purchased Widows 7 Home premium and had no issues until now. Suddenly Microsoft Word is gone and I can not access any of my Documents or open them. I tried a retore point and to reinstall Windows 7 but Word still has not been restored. What can I do? I have a new Dell laptop but which was the show computer in John Lewis. It does not seem to connect to the wireless router, or if it does it is very tempermental. Often, even if my laptop tries to search for the wireless connection, the router will then shut down and has to be rebooted. Troubleshooting the problem suggests that the' Intel Wireless adapter cannot be found' or that the 'wireless network cannot be found'. I would be really grateful if somebody knew how to fix this problem? It would be great to be able to use wireless... Many thanks in advance View the thread

windows 7 Delete a user and all of their data
News Bot posted a topic in Operating Systems Help & Support
We have a very small company with only about 10 computers. Recently one of our employees left. We now have a computer with all of their information on it along with programs such as MS Office. We would like to clean it up before we turn it over to a new employee. What is the best way to go about deleting that user and all of their files without deleting the programs or reinstalling the OS? Is it as simple as creating a new user and then deleting the other? Will that remove all of the original persons files, but leave all the programs? View the thread -
Greetings, It appears that Outlook 2013 does not process a junk mail safe senders list at startup. I've confirmed that all required policies and associated registry entries are configured correctly. I'm running the RTM bits from volume licensing portal so no preview edition or anything. junkmailimportlists=1 junkmailsafesendersfile=%path-to-file% (confirmed the file is in the target location and readable) I've moved the safe senders file from a network share to my local drive and tested it but there was no change. Basically, the safe senders list is empty no matter how many times I start up the Outlook client. Anyone else experiencing this or can confirm a known bug? Thanks, Doug Douglas Cote View this thread

Hi Guys, I have done an upgrade from Office 2010 to Office 2013 on two remote desktop session hosts (Server 2008 R2). Since this we have been experiencing the following two issues. 1. On launch of Outlook 2013 it displays "configuring Office 2013 64-bit components" 2. Poor performance in all Office applications. Resolutions tried: 1. I have tried the registry fix suggested in this thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/officesetupdeploy/thread/b8e8277c-a2f9-426a-bb3d-3f45bd0a47fc and cannot remove the component as suggested due to the component not being installed. I have also tried running as admin, doing a repair install and clean reinstalls. 2. I have tried the registry fix to disable animations (via group policy) and disabling hardware acceleration (also via group policy). The second seemed to help somewhat but it is not as quick as it was in Office 2010. We have also tried disabling all Outlook add ins which helps performance in Outlook somewhat but again is not great. As a test I spawned a new Virtual Machine to set up from scratch as a Remote Desktop session host and this is experiencing. We have also reinstalled Office 2010 on one of the servers which is not experiencing the same problems as 2013. Thanks In Advance Alex View this thread
