when we first set up our home computer we were with freeserve. We have moved house and no longer have orange broadband but when I try to send an email, from a web page or even to sent a phot from my photos it goes through all the steps but when I come to press the send button there isnt one. Is this because we do not have an orange broadband account anymore.. If I just google orange and go in that way it will allow me send . Is it because it is the default email address and can I change this? I have Gateway LX6810-01 desk top runnning windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bit, 8gb RAM, Service Pack 2 and all latest updates. I connect to the internet through the LAN connection to AT&T Uverse broad band high speed (12gbps). This has been working for over two years now with no problems until now. All of a sudden one day after I rebooted the machine there was no internet connection. When I went to the Network and Sharing Center I get a message that there is no network device installed. SO, I went to the Device Manager window and there was no network device listed but when I opened the "hidden devices" there is was. (Why it is hidden I don't have a clue.) SO, I went to the BIOS and checked to be sure the LAN was "enabled" and it WAS. I still get the same message "no network device installed". SO, then I went to the Gateway web site and downloaded the LAN driver for my machine and my LAN and REinstalled the driver. . . I STILL get the same message and I still have no connetion to the internet. WHAT could be wrong?? Although I consider myself relatively intelligent, I am NOT a computer guru, so please be kind and state your suggestions in "non lingo" so I will understand. Thanks for your help. I have a working HD that I would like to replace (dropped from some height) with MS 7 Pro 64 Bit OA for Lenovo. Am I correct that I'll need to create a bootable USB, then image the ISO to it from the existing drive, install new HD then begin a clean install using the same product key? Hi, I have a ZyXEL NSA310 NAS device on my network that I use for backups (as well as a media server). I have been very happy with it as, amongst other things, it has a gigabit Ethernet connection. I recently upgraded my home laptop from Win7 Pro to Win8 Pro. Under Win7 the NAS device worked perfectly as the backup target. I could back up file sets and - most importantly to me - create a system image on the device should I need to restore the system in the event of a full disk failure. When I upgraded to Win8 it kept the Win7 settings and it looked like it was just going to work, then as it came to create the system image it failed with error code 0x807800C5 and message "The version does not support this version of the file format". I have searched the internet and seen that others have had similar issues on Win7 and Win8 with NAS devices where they have had to hack the device to get it working - though it isn't clear that this has been successful for everyone. This isn't an option for me as the NSA310 is a closed device and in any event I don't see why I should have to hack the device when clearly this is a Win8 issue (since Win7 worked perfectly). Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue so that I can create the full backups I require? I access my FTP site Via Windows Explorer in Windows 7 and Have tried doing the same via File Explorer in Windows 8 When I double click a File in the FTP folder, whereas in W7 It would download a copy and open the file, In W8 I receive the error Interface Not Supported. I've been using Windows 7 Backup and Restore in Win7 for years to create images of laptops and desktops, and I've used the images to restore machines when their HDDs crashed and had to be replaced. So I have a lot of confidence in its imaging and recovery abilities. So when I luckily found it buried in the Win8 control panel, I tried to use it to make a backup of my Dell Precision laptop (running Win 8 Ent x64). I use an external 1-TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex drive to write my backups, and it currently has 749 GB of free space. But when I attempt to make a backup of my C: Drive and the Recovery (System) volume, it returns an error that "There is not enough disk space to create the volume shadow copy of the storage location . . . (0x80780119)". Before I try to start the backup, it acknowledges the 749 GB of free space on the drive, and it indicates that the backup image will need approx. 59 GB of space. I've run chkdsk against the Seagate drive, and it finished with no errors on the disk. Anyone have any useful ideas for understanding the error? View the full article

Good day! Have a problem with new installed Windows 8 x64 box. System periodically crashes with different codes: BUGCHECK_STR: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, DPC_QUEUE_EXECUTION_TIMEOUT_EXCEEDED, etc. I analyze minidump with WinDBG, faulting module is ntoskrnl.exe, DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID is WIN8_DRIVER_FAULT. So I think problem is probably with hardware drivers, but I have no ideas. OS is fully patched from Windows Update. Motherboard is Asus P9X79 Deluxe, 2 hard drives are in RAID-1 based on on-board Intel RST, with addition of non-RAID 3-rd HDD attached to on-board Intel too. All latest hardware drivers from Asus site are installed. Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise on this box works well during 3 months. I was working on some applications and when I got done I found these files on my desktop. They are graytone, I call them ghosts. Where do they belong? Or do I just flush them? Hi I have an Acer aspire 5600 running on xp. I recently tried to connect my iphone 5 and got the blue screen and shutdown. Microsoft sent an error report stating it was due to a driver problem with a camera. when I plugged the phone in it started recognising the iphone then said found still camera. I have installed a SSD Hard Drive and new memory to my desktop PC. Now Microsoft has blocked my GENUINE copy of Window 7 from activating, I fully understand the reason for this. My problem is the auto verification + the activate by phone are no good to me as they just say the copy is blocked and there is no option to speak with any Human no matter what telephone number I try.
