I'm trying to find out if Boss Tech is a scam? Yesterday my computer locked and a message appeared that I had a virus and to call 855-602-6550. So, stupid me I did and my credit card was charged $200 to unlock my computer, repair and clean out the junk! (And I have 9 months of unlimited support.) He sounded legitimate. (I know I probably should have called Microsoft or someone else but I really didn't know what to do at the time!) And I had my computer serviced with the Geek Squad last month but I was still having problems with it. Boss Tech told me that Geek Squad outsources the repairs to other countries, like India and they don't do a good job of taking out all of the junk! (Boss Tech said I still had messages since 2012!) My computer seems to be working better now! But was I scammed? Or is Boss Tech a legitimate and good company? So, now what do I do? Thanks. Connie View this thread

I recently received a request to update to a free Windows 10 Upgrade. I accepted the upgrade and started the download, since this I have been unable to log onto my computer saying to contact System Administrator, I am the administrator but it will not allow me to log onto my own pc, blocked by group policy. I can not sign onto anything therefore rendering a very expensive pc useless. I have attempted several fixes regedit, recovery security setting s however I am stopped each time with blocked group policy. On my Acer Aspire laptop which has windows 7 installed. I used it 2 days ago and now I can't sign in to my computer. It tells me service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded. If I could get into the main screen I could probably delete the anti virus programs that are probably causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated. View the thread

Firstly, I have an Acer Aspire V3 571. It came with windows 8. I've had the laptop for more than 2 years now and the problem seems to be getting worse and worse. Everything worked flawlessly for the first year and I only started experiences some issues once I switched to Windows 8.1. After receiving multiple crashes every week, I decided to reset my laptop to factory settings so I can go back to Windows 8. Turns out, that Windows 8.1 wasn't the problem since they continued to occur on 8 as well. A year from that point and I've reset my laptop twice now but the problem has not gone away. I made sure it wasn't a virus as well since I only downloaded the bare minimum I need for my daily activities which revolve around google chrome and hangouts. I've also faced another problem. Since the Windows 10 update is around the corner, I tried updating to 8.1 again so I could reserve Windows 10. But the problem now is that I can't even install that update. After a lengthy install I received an error (0x7007001F-0x30018). Any help would be appreciated. If I could somehow fix this problem it would be awesome. Thanks. View the full article

our office have shops in the Philippine malls and have installed genuine windows 7 professional CD. after a few years if the shop is not productive anymore, our office closes the shop and during this time, the staff had thrown away the license sticker thinking it was not important. my problem is that we plan to use the same PC to another shop here in the Philippines. it still says that it is legitimate but the PC does not have license sticker anymore. i have the box, cd, serial numbers and everything else but the license sticker. i even have the license CD key written on the side of the box just in case. is there any way to request for a certificate or proof that what i have is a legit PC even without the sticker? we know that without the sticker, they might think that we are using fake windows which may pose problems for us in the future. is there a website to go to or a contact us page? thank you. Split from this thread. Mine does this also, but more often. At least once per 5 minutes or so. It is getting a little annoying and when I am able to log in fast enough (and even when I have an app open or something that I am working on or even the Internet app open) it closes back down and I get the blue screen again. I am using my other PC to look up how to fix this, but I am getting no where, and I need my other computer for work ASAP. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are ntuser.dat.LOG files important to include in a backup being used to transfer files to a new computer? When trying to backup or copy files I keep getting the message that these files (there's 4 of them) cannot be backed up or copied because they're already open and being used on the computer. I am continuously getting a BSOD from windows with System_Service_Exception, running windows 7 pro 64bit. I tried to do some video editing for school, so I plug in my iPad to copy the video clips and try to install an app (on the admin account, our default one as we don't have another). The app wants a login, so I login with mine. After I finish, I try to log back to the admin account, only to find that it is gone. It's not even showing up underneath the "sign out" button. I just got a new Windows 8 computer and had no problem unlocking it or using it until two days ago. The alert says my password or username are incorrect, but they aren't. I've reset the password as prompted multiple times, but I still can't get into my computer. I can log into my microsoft account with this info, but not my computer. Running Win 7 oem. started computer this morning and it went into repaor mode. Made some changes. Now I cannot run a few games or GeForce experiece. windows/system 32/oledlg.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. I have run SFC and says some files were unable to be changed and mentions a CBS log that I cannot find but does not fix the problem. checked and made sure the file was actually there. Will not let me delete the file. tried reassigning it to the registry.. says reassigned but cannot find some DLL file Tried system restore.. went to earlier version but still getting the error. Tried a windows update.. downloaded a few optional but did not fix. Any please help.. down to total reinstall of win 7 and dreading that. I unzipped a 4.5GB zip file, and the constituent file sizes aren't event the same as shown using "unzip -l". Are there any *unpublicized* file limits? View the thread

Hi, I hope someone can answer this question. I have a old Gateway P3 laptop and it has XP on it but it was designed for Windows 98. So I am trying to put Windows 98 back on the laptop. I put the disc in the CD drive and reboot. Nothing happens. I press esc at the Gateway logo screen and the boot option show up. So I select CD-ROM drive and it just boots into XP. I tried running the setup inside Windows and it said setup cannot run inside Windows. So how can I get Windows 98 to install on this system? It is a Gateway Solo Pro 9300. View this thread

I got a new DVD but it wont work. It says Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. put the old one back in and same error so the old one may not be bad. I had a HP laptop windows 7,i made a set of 6 CD'S on that computer. I now have just bought a Dell windows 8 laptop that when I tried to use the cd's , it told me I had to connect an external hard drive, I bought that hard drive, its so complicated, I don't know how I got the message to get a hard drive because its gone!!tells me to choose files that aren't there!
