How do I connect hard drive to external hard drive
Match replied to Mokles's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
No question is stupid if you have to ask it, not asking it and getting things wrong would be the stupid option ;) Do you already have an External Drive? What is the make and Model of your Tower? Most in fact nearly all external drives that you buy from shops will connect to your PC by USB. but you can get some that will connect by an external SATA connection. -

Hi First I take it were talking about McAfee not Mc Fee, she was a nanny :D so what you need to do is follow the steps listed in the below link to totally remove it How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe) Next you will need to Download and install one of the Following avast! Free Antivirus - Download Software for Virus Protection Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.30 - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com Please Please Please do not use AVG 9 free, and lets Hope AVG 10 free actually blocks viruses and not just tell you that you have been infected, and you need to upgrade to the paid version to remove the infection :) You may also find the WOT (Web Of Trust) Browser plug in useful ;) Safe Browsing Tool | WOT Web of Trust -
As RandyL has said everyone has their own favourites here is a couple of links to ones people have recommended, or I use other than Nero CD and DVD Burning Software - Alcohol Soft copy and virtual drive software Alcohol 120 and 52% Free Edition Roxio - DVD Burning & CD Burning Software - Creator & Toast Software

Hi take a look at this first and let us know how confident you feel about doing this or whether you might feel having a reputable computer shop do it for you ? How to Install a Second Hard Drive | eHow.com

Great that's what I like to hear, now all you have to do is talk Game into exchanging your cable That's on thing I like about Maplins, no hassle exchanges with receipt and packaging ;)
-
ROFL I know that problem ;)

Just lucky No Problem :D That's OK too at least you haven't said nothing is connecting the sound card to the TV :D Sorry should have asked you for your exact TV Model Number :o But having a quick look at the manuals and fingers crossed I'm close with this one 32PFL7605H/05 Philips LCD TV 32PFL7605H 32" Full HD 1080p digital TV with Ambilight Spectra 2 and Pixel Precise HD - Philips Support where you describe the Audio Input to be sounds like an Audio Out The Audio in seems to be by the VGA (Computer Monitor) Connector and the antenna the other thing to check is the plug type you are using http://www.rapidonline.com/netalogue/zoomed/Large/20297201.jpg Notice the two Black insulator strips compared to a single one for a Mono Plug http://www.rapidonline.com/netalogue/zoomed/Large/20296201.jpg But if we start with the exact TV Model I can find the right manual and then we will be on the same page :D

Hi Blue Your HDMI cable is connected to your PC Graphics Card? Which is a ...? and your TV Your New Sound Blaster Audigy SE is connected to the TV by .....?

That's the only way forward I can see, However as Nev said you will loose all data on the disk. However as I said earlier and Nev states , before doing that their are ways to get your files and folders off First. My Favourite way is to remove the HDD and plug it into a different PC as a second drive, however their are a few other ways depending on what you have available. One that I am researching and looking into at the moment is using Linux however I have very limited experience with this method so I am reluctant to advise you on this but here is an article on it How to Use Linux to Fix Windows | eHow.com

ok hope this isn't to late but you can try ctrl+alt+del, failing that eject the disk, failing that fraid its the reset button or hard shutdown, Im sure that saving your settings and preferences is an option you can say no to, but maybe not been along time, basically if a repair instal is not working their is only one thing left, but their are a number of options to get the data off the drive
-
OK if you have a XP Disk and can get into the Bios to set the primary boot device as DVD you can do a repair install of XP http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx
-
If you don't have a PS/2 Keyboard as JB suggests (Round plug) try disconnecting the mouse and the keyboard and if available plug the keyboard into a different USB Port, (Give the connectors a sharp blow), and try booting with just the keyboard. also do you know how to get into the bios settings, press del or F10 when prompted at the splash screens

Hi and Welcome Scarletto165 So they work until windows starts? Do you have a Windows XP Disk? have you tried from the F8 Safe mode menu, last known good configuration, or failing that the Directory Services Restore Mode Also it would help if you could tell us what you did or happened just before this fault appeared ;)

Well TBH I'm running out of Idea's other than Backing up and trying a clean Install I'm stuck.

With 1 PCI-E 1 GPU expansion slot Useful to know but we would need to know what else is in your system that uses Power to calculate how much spare you have ;) Antec Power Supply Calculator We also need to know the case size as some modern cards an get rather large We also need to know your budget if you can afford one of these Scan.co.uk: 100-505556 - 2GB ATI FirePro V8750 PCI-E 2.0 (x16), GDDR5, 2x DisplayPort/DL DVI-I/Stereo Graphics port, Retail I'll give you the address for delivery ;) Also what do you use your system for?
-
I don't see how this can be Hardware related, and am now thinking that this is registry related, have you used any registry cleaning or optimization software?
-
Have you checked that the monitor is connected to the Graphics card and not the onboard graphics, and have you checked the cable from the motherboard to the HDD?
-
Wrong, it places a shortcut on the desk top that links you to different browsers, should you wish to try or use one, If it were to disable your original browser then you would not be able to connect to the internet to download your chosen Browser also just by deleting the short cut you negate any need to do anything? also this update was released in February and I haven't seen it since !! here is the link to the Microsoft Info page about it What is the Browser Choice update? (KB976002) - Microsoft Windows What you are describing sound suspiciously like malware of some type !!

:) OK, have you checked what the cpu speed is in system menu ? Control Panel\System and Security\System Just wondering if the Bios has reset and CPU frequency settings have been changed to default?
-
Nope for the CPU would be the one to check first the GPU would need the latest Catalyst Drivers from ATI, which I believe you've already installed. Basically if you just installed Windows 7 it would have installed with all the Best drivers available for your machine, but if you then installed the Dell Drivers then this would result in a 64Bit Operating system working with 32 Bit Drivers So if you relied on Windows to do it for you all should be OK and we need to look else where, If you installed the Dell Drivers they will be 32bit and need removing.
-
What drivers are currently installed? If you look in Device Manager under the Driver Tab it should tell you who the driver provider is, if its Dell click Update Driver, Select Search Automatically and it should load the Microsoft ones for you.
-
OK that brings us to this Question Reason why is that Dell Don't do 64bit Support for your machine Dell - Dell - Supported Operating Systems so If you are using Dell drivers, you will need to revert to the Microsoft ones
-
Are you using the 32 or 64 Bit version of Windows 7?

Did you try this way? If so can you goto your disk management (Open start in search Box type disk management and press return) your drive should have a 9 to 11Gb partition showing, that won't show in "My computer" if that's missing then when you formatted the Hard Drive you have probably damaged it. (screen shot appreciated). and we will go from their :)
