  1. P.S. If you read down the thread "help me for drivers on dell desktop 378 - DELL COMMUNITY", and that is the same model PC as the one you have there are links to the drivers you need ;)
  2. help me for drivers on dell desktop 378 - DELL COMMUNITY How to force Windows to use a standard VGA compatible driver If all you have changed is the Hard drive and the motherboard is original to the case, then by using the service tag on the case you should be able to obtain the correct vista drivers from dell Dell - Drivers and Downloads without the Dell Model or Service Tag their isn't a lot more I can do other than point you to the dell link above :)
  3. problem is that passwords and forums are a touchy subject, same as hacked or cracked software, it opens a whole tin of liability and legal worms that most site owners would rather not have to deal with and so prohibit any help with these issues. sorry but I am limited to what advice I can give other than to take the machine to a reputable dealer who can then verify that you are the owner and do have the right to access the files.
  4. If you like doing things the hard way, I like the easy way CPUID or probably better Dell - Drivers and Downloads What I think you will find is that for some reason Windows has installed an XP compatible driver, that's not Vista Compatible but until we know the Hardware configuration, Its hard to say what drivers you should have. but if you can find the service tag number the dell support site should have what you need.
  5. I'm afraid that you have to reinstall Windows.
  6. I have a bit of a morale dilemma here !! if you had Administrator rights on your pc, then you would know the password, if no password were set then by just hitting enter should get you past it. as described here under "How to use the Recovery Console" How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP So I'll PM the Admin here and see what they say.
  7. is this an XP installation CD, or an XP recovery CD?
  8. what do you do when you get this prompt? have you tried putting in a password? have you tried leaving it blank and just pressing return? and what happens when you do anything?
  9. Yes, wrong drivers, !! what driver do you have installed. and where did you download it from? what graphics adapter do you have installed, is it part of the motherboard? or a separate card? If the graphics adapter is onboard the motherboard, what is the motherboard model? HP?, Dell?, what was it before you upgraded it?
  10. Well, I should imagine that if you have the PC apart that running software on it would be harder than looking at the label on the Drive :) or by looking at the connectors on the drive or cable bottom of the picture is a sata drive, top of the picture are sata cables
  11. Documentation Are you sure its SCSI? and not just a standard SATA Drive? P.S. Thanks for the reminder, my second RTM of an Optiarc AD-7243S, this tiime it's for a refund and I'll be getting a Pioneer Found this but its 5mm smaller in height 1.3cm where the Sony is 1.7cm dabs.com - Pioneer 8x Slimline SATA DVD-RW Slot (DVR-TS08)
  12. I wouldn't say that a Sony PlayStation has Nine cores in the way Intel and AMD have 4, but it does have a Single core controlling 8 others? confused read this and you still won't understand lol. Cell (microprocessor) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 6 Cores the Article I read says around $1000 US so that's about £700 UK + Motherboard and I'll bet it will need DDR3 RAM As for the RAM Quantity with a 32 bit OS you will only be able to use 3.5G with a 64 bit OS you theoretically can have 192GB  lol and I'd like to see that Motherboard and PSU :p But Until the Software catches up with the Hardware then whats the point, 64Bit OS's have been around for years, and Windows 7 is the first to boast full 64 bit driver support, so it will be the OS' that starts the move to true 64 Bit computing, maybe my next system with windows 8 ?? will have more RAM.
  13. Dell Studio One 19/1909 Service Manual? Would that help? Documentation
  14. Does this look familiar http://www.gearxs.com/gearxs/images/MS-6741.jpg MSI MS-6741 VIA K8T800 Chipset Socket 754 AMD Athlon 64 3400+ w/SOUND/SATA/AGP/RAID/CNR - mATX NEW this is probably because it is a cheaper version of a board that had 4 slots, and to save money they didn't put then on the board. as to only having a Max of 4Gig of RAM (2X 2Gb) you wouldn't be able to get any software to use more than that anyway ;) as I say to people if its working mess with it and break it then you have something to do. and tbh I just read about AMD and Intel launching 6 Core CPU's now where can I get a couple of £1000 from and how can I get the wife to believe that I really do need one?
  15. Unfortunately this is where the problem probably is. if the software is trying to contact a web site that isn't there any more your not going to get very far unless you know a university graduate with a degree in software engineering or similar. I found this under the one name, don't know if they have any connection with the original company, but a phone call is a phone call and a lot cheaper than buying new software CONSTRUCTION SOFTWARE SERVICES LTD, CLEETHORPES, , PROFILE HOUSE/3 WARDALL ST as for Bit Art that seems to be a ghost, and I can't find it mentioned any where.
  16. You may also want to download the install file for Firefox and save it onto something you can give to your friend.
  17. Try Booting into safe mode with networking. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER. Safe Mode with Networking (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Network): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows together with the drivers that you must have to load networking. the screen will look strange as it will be running minimal windows features hopefully this will enable you to perform part of the procedure posted by Randyl
  18. Well to be totally Honest I can say I haven't seen a speed improvement between, Windows 7RC7100 (X86) and Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit. and my CPU and Motherboard are less than 4 years old, and while the case was last open to blow the dust out I was looking at Motherboard thinking that a nice Asus with a AM3 Socket and Phenom CPU would be nice in it, then the wife shattered my daydreams by talking of a nice cooker she wants :( But CPU coolers this one should be as good and quite as any, they also have a variable speed one but thats £15 more Scan.co.uk: AKASA AK-860SF AMD S754/939/AM2, Low Noise Aluminium Heatsink with AM2 retention clips and 92mm fan
  19. Here is the big question can you get in touch with the company that originally wrote the software. or can you remember the name of it.
  20. Not really sure as I can't find much definitive information out but the best scenario is if it is a socket 939, but then without the mobo chipset info I'm stuck, but ether way I don't think your going to get much improvement without upgrading your motherboard aswell, but then that will probably mean that your RAM and GPU Upgrades will be no good ether. So I would accept that your system has reached the end of its upgrade path and look at replacing it with a compete new build.
  21. Sorry I have no experience with AOL, so looks like your left with the hammer but I did find this How do I uninstall my AOL software? - Technical - AOL Help
  22. if you class a full re-boot as a complete power down to wall socket then i would say you have a registry, hardware, or malware problem. but it depends on the nature of the problems your having. they must have a common denominator. unless its malware
  23. OK the change from Vista to Vista OSX will be done by changing ownership of some of the system and system32 files, chances are that if you tried to validate it using the Microsoft Validation tool that it will tell you that you don't have a valid copy of Vista. So if you try and upgrade then chances are that the upgrade will perform a similar check and throw up an error before cancelling the install. as to how to get rid of OSX you need to put the original system files back into place, easiest way would be a re-install of Vista http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.aspx?displaylang=en
  24. Here is a good explanation and a few things to check to narrow down the problem. Please do not pay any attention to where it mentions registry cleaners, this will cause you to have more problems than you will solve if you use one not knowing what you are doing with it. HTTP Error 400 Bad request Explained
