To check if its the line or the hub.......If there is crackling or buzzing on the line.....Unplug the hub, plug your phone only into the wall socket, has the buzzing and crackling stopped? If you have a newer wall socket please unscrew the cover, there should be a tester socket.....Try the above using the tester socket.....Also try it with the hub connected? Any improvement on crackling or speed? I agree with Nevs post.....

New Psu for a new graphics card.
Jelly Bean replied to benbo123's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hey Benbo..... The HP link leads to HP website and not your computer specs...... Ok the Graphics card is good enough and will do the job.Not everyones choice but for what your asking to do with it then its fine..... That JeanTech PSU from PCWorld is Im not sorry to say a load of tat..........Do not buy it.....Cheap and nasty.... You need a decent make and model, something like: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/7523864/OCZ-OCZ500MXSP-UK-ModXStream-Pro-500W-ATX-PSU-Power-Supply-Unit/Product.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=ocz+psu&urlrefer=search http://www.play.com/Search.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=corsair+psu -
Computer Repair Security
Jelly Bean replied to sportingman's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hello William.....I dont think there is any real way of protecting your data other than removale of the hard drive.....You could password files but passwords can be hacked......You can remove all files and put them to disk or an external hard drive and then delete them off your computer, however system restore or recovery software could recover the deleted files..... I think you just need to make sure you take the PC to a good computer repair shop and hope they dont do any snooping.... -
I want an all-singing, all-dancing security package
Jelly Bean replied to Mokles's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Virgin media is classed as unlimited.....Wich means as an example you get 10 meg broadband and could leave your computer connected to the internet 24 hours a day 7 days a week at no extra charge..... Data usage is like buying a dongle that you top up every month....You put lets say £15-00 on the dongle.....This gives you lets say 15 mb of data usage....This means every time you open a web page or upload or download a picture, send a word document to a friend it uses up your data allowance you have paid for.....Dont quote me on prices here or amount od data allowance Im just giving an example....Another way of looking at it is your £15-00 supposed to buy you 100 hours of internet for general usage,BUT once you start to download and upload the data usage is used up very quickly.......So you do not get the 100 hours at all...... BT lower cost packages work on this princible.....If you have an older phone line your speed will also be slower.....If you have a very low speed and connect more than one computer to the internet your speeds will be even lower again and may get drop outs..... If your going for BT then if BT infinate is in your area I would get that...... -
I want an all-singing, all-dancing security package
Jelly Bean replied to Mokles's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I realy would NOT go to BT.......If you go for there cheaper packages you are capped......Once you use the package allowance of data usage they will then start to charge you for every 5 mb of data usage ontop of you bill at £5-00 a time.BT are not cheaper.......They advertise UPTO speeds, this means your phone may say you can get as an example 7 mb speed but in actual fact you may only get 3-4 meg.I on average get half a meg speed wich is the lowest of the low..... Your better off with Virgin, they are the cheapest and more reliable of ISP....I never used there PC Gaurd....When I had Virgin.....I cannot get them were I live now.... Try these: http://extremetech.support/threads/3597-FPCH-Recommended-Security-products Look harder into BT before you decide to change.....Find out there rules and contract.......You may find your stuck with terrible speeds and end up costing you more money..... -

That coolmaster case is much better......I just think if your building a good machine and if your a gamer cooling is a must..... If you plan to Over Clock wich I dont advise as your building a decent machine, renew the CPU stock cooler..... Let us know how it goes.... There is nothing better than building your own machine.... Jelly Bean replied to MattUK's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
As your planning to run a quad core I would certainly go for 4 gig and 64 bit..... The monitor choice to be honest I would go for Samsung or LG,I have dual Dells.....Go for a good branded one,do NOT go for AOC,cheap, nasty and possible ghosting... I would go for the Kingston RAM or even look at Corsair....As your adding 4 gig you realy dont need top speed RAM......You could save cash and get a lower speed, just a thought......You may not get the usage of the speed... PSU is fine.......If you plan to upgrade or add more hardware at a later date you may wish to up that to a 600...... Your case,I didnt notice if there was side ventilation.....I see front........Personaly I would go for something with a side vent as well.......But case looks fine..... I will add a small item to the list....Small cable ties.......Use these to tie cables out of the way to give better cooling and airflow...... -

Video card problem/compatibilty issue?
Jelly Bean replied to phamus's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Ohhhhhh, that card is not good, needs removing......Its only a 64 mb card..... You need at least a gig of RAM in a computer these days to stream videos etc. Have you installed the latest DirectX? You only have a 1.8 CPU wich with that card and lack ofd RAM is making for a slow choppy computer..... Did you reset the BIOS after installing this card? -

Yes it maybe a main HDD issue,if errors were found and it did not fix them all after running chkdsk then your HDD has problems....
