  1. If you have several computers on your network then you are all adding to this .......I sugest your parents ring Virgin and ask if this is the case.......
  2. If you download a lot of music, movies and pictures and use a lot of internet air time Virgin Media will SLOW your connection for several hours at a time sometimes for around half a day......
  3. Hello and welcome... As long as the computer supports booting from USB then yes you can use an external hard drive to install windows.... You can also run the machine from a USB pen drive.....
  4. Right click on the icon, choose properties from the list. Then choose change icon button.
  5. Hi there.... If your graphics card has an HDMI and VGA connection you can run both monitors.....Or if you have DVI and HDMI then you can buy a little adaptor to convert the VGA connection to a DVI....But I would recommend you buy an upto date flat screen monitor with DVI connection....This will give you crystal clear picture and better graphics..... Update your graphic card drivers and software. Then use windows monitor setup and the GPUs software in conjunction with eachother to set up the monitors...You can set wich monitor you wish to be your main screen....
  6. A simple trick is to tright in Device Manager click at the top of the list and choose scan for hardware changes... Update and install hardware drivers and software for the card..... Turn off the computer, open her up and touch the PSU for a few seconds..... Remove the PCI slot GPU..... Plug the monitor into the onboard graphics card. Power on the computer. Logon then go to device manager. Now what does it say listed for your graphics card? Does it say the onboard graphics card is a 7900GTX? What is the make and model number of your mainboard?
  7. Hello and welcome.... This sounds like a power supply fault, which I am afraid to say means a new mainboard..... But lets see. Which lights are on? Does anything appear on the screen? Are you able to restart the machine and repeatedly tap F8 key and choose an option from a list? Are you able to enter BIOS/Setup? Does the recovery option work.F10,f11 or F12?
  8. The only issue I see is to do with Microsoft Office.... Validation failed on all components such as Works,Spread sheets etc.... This either means you have an outdated version of office or possibly an illegal version installed....I intend to think more on a trial version that has gone outdated..... Have you been having any issues with your computer that causes you concern?
  9. Hello and welcome... When you say box,do you mean the computer case /tower? You may not get a gamer machine for that price unless you go for cheaper products.... Let me add a few links for you and see what you think... You need a decent power supply, cheap and nasty could fry your mainboard and other hardware . My PSU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/OCZ-600W-ModXStream-Power-Supply/dp/B001GLFD54/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1322760399&sr=1-1 RAM: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-1600MHz-Vengeance-Memory/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_img_b Mainboard: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-M5A78L-M-USB3-Motherboard-Socket/dp/B0054U7HIO/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1322760587&sr=1-3 CPU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-HDZ965FBGMBOX-Phenom-II-965/dp/B002SRQ214/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_img_b Do you have CD/DVD rom drives already? You could go cheaper on RAM,CPU and Mainboard...... Example a slower dual core CPU,4 gig RAM either corsair or OCZ brand.... A cheaper RAM is Kingston... I think the ASUS mainboard is very reasonably priced.... You could go for a CPU,mainboard,RAM bundle: See below link and scroll down a little: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=Asus+M5A78L-M%2FUSB3+Motherboard&x=13&y=20#/ref=sr_st?keywords=Asus+M5A78L-M%2FUSB3+Motherboard&qid=1322760935&rh=n%3A340831031%2Ck%3AAsus+M5A78L-M%2FUSB3+Motherboard&sort=price Do you wish to use the onboard graphics card or buy a seprate PCI card one? Here is an example of a GPU,they do go up in price the better card you want: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Graphics-PCI-Express-CrossFireX-Technology/dp/B004XANOCO/ref=sr_1_14?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1322761359&sr=1-14 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Radeon-Graphics-PCI-Express-Dust-proof/dp/B004XANO24/ref=sr_1_18?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1322761359&sr=1-18
  10. This is simply untrue, the card is a dual card not made of two older cards.... GeForce 7950 GX2 features a knockout pair of GeForce processors on one irresistibly powerful board. This dual-GPU board features an astounding 1 GB of fast GDDR3 memory and support for resolutions up to 2560 X 1600. It’s a beautiful thing. As you have not explained fully on this issue we cannot help you much at the moment.... Could you explain more fully on what your GPU setup is please? Firstly are both the GPUs PCI card ones or is one onboard GPU as in built into the mainboard and one is PCI slot? If both GPUs are PCI cards then remove one... If a GPU is broken its broken, you would need to buy a new one.... Once removing the one GPU PCI card connect the monitor to the one you wish to keep..... If one is onboard as in attached to the mainboard, connect the monitor to the PCI card one. Remove BIOS battery for 20 seconds, replace, reboot the computer.... A black screen can also indicate badly fitted RAM or faulty RAM.....
  11. Your very welcome vamp..... Let us know how things go.....
  12. You crazy english boy LOL..... Never mind we got there in the end didnt we? Good Luck babe....x
  13. Are you sure your Welsh vamp? Only joking..... Here is How to dual boot: http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_vista_and_xp_with_vista_installed_first__the_stepbystep_guide.htm There are other links and help there on how to dual boot diffrent operating systems, they are all pritty much the same on how to set them up....Great link and great help... If the fully working tower is a higher specification than one or both of the other computers then keep it as a fully working computer and connect a monitor, keyboard n mouse, fit CD/DVD drives etc to it... Here is an example of how to build a server: http://www.intac.net/build-your-own-server/ BUT vamp, your easiest option and the simplist option is to fit a hard drive in floor 2 and 3 computers, install windows on both computers then connect all the computers up via a network.....
  14. OMG at last I thought I was going utterly crazy...... Right now I dont know if this would work. The tower that is fully working could be setup as a "Dual Boot",this means it would have its main hard drive split into two and then on each partition install a version of windows.... As an example....The main working tower, you split the partition into two seprate partitions,as an example you install windows xp on one partition then windows 2000 on the other, this creates a dual boot, then maybe just maybe you could use floor 2 and 3 computer to logon to the seprate partitions,so floor 2 computer logs onto XP floor 3 computer logs onto windows 2000 partition.... A lot of work that possibly will NOT work.... The easiest option is find out wich computer is the lowest hardware specifications.... Use this as a "Server" wich is a stand alone computer tower that other fully functioning computers connect to to share files such as video, games etc.... Take the other two computers add hard drives to them install windows on each then connect them to the server tower.....
  15. I now think I have what your trying to do.... But you need to give us the information we need. Like how are all three computers connected up to eachother? You have one working tower lets say on floor 1,this has no monitor, keyboard or mouse connected... On floor 2 you have a computer with keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to it.. On floor 3 you have a computer with keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to it.. Both floor 2 and 3 computers do NOT have hard drives. Both floor 2 and 3 computers are connected to the single tower on floor 1. You can logon to floor 2 computer and surf the internet. But you cannot logon to floor 3 computer and play games at the same time as floor 2 computer. You want to have both floor 2 and 3 logged onto,up and running and use both at the same time.... My advice is to fit a hard drive to each computer that do not have one, install windows on both.... Then use the fully working tower on floor 1 as a server....
  16. Both computer boot up and can be logged onto at the same time or seprately? Both computers are connected to the main computer HOW?
  17. Vamp I am still utterly confused I am sorry.... You say you have one working computer and two NOT working.... To use the two none working computers, they need to have hard drives fitted and install windows..... You can then setup a network and share files over this network.... To control all three computers over a network Virtual Machine can be installed and all three working computers can share files and be controlled via the one main computer..... You cannot play games or share files with the two computers that do not have hard drives installed and windows installed. They simply will not work....They may turn on but they need to be booted and logged onto before you can set up any kind of network or file share system... Im passing this over to other members for you as I am totaly at a loss of what you are asking for....
  18. Ok let me see if I am correct,we need more information on what your trying to do and how you have this setup? You have ONE fully working computer with six HDDs installed,it has one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse connected to it... You have two other computer towers without any monitor, keyboard or mouse connected to them. They DO NOT have HDDs fitted. How do you have these none working towers connected to the main working computer? Your trying to make the two none working computers work or boot from the main working computer? That is NOT going to happen... You either make one of the none working computers into a server so all other computers that work in the home can share files from that server. OR: Fit hard drives and monitors, keyboard and mouse to the none working computers. Then insatll windows.... Once all three are up and running you can connect them via crossover cables or via wirless to share files... If you could fully explain your setup I am sure we could help you further, but at the moment connecting two computers that do not have HDDs or external monitor etc to a main working computer actualy does nothing....
  19. Vamp the computer towers will not boot up without hard drives in them......I am confused............... Vamp are you thinking of setting up a server?
  20. Did you buy a 500 watt PSU or higher as minimum is 500 watts....? Doesnt this card have a single VGA port you can test? I would not buy anything until you have tested the card on another computer. It is possible the old card was not the issue but the mainboard graphics card slot... Borrow a DVI monitor just to test the system.... Test old card and newer one in another computer..... If you can see the BIOS via the old monitors via the onbaord VGA then the monitors are fine..... Dont buy anything, beg and borrow from friends is the best option...... Have you taken the card out and restited it?
  21. Hello there.... Have you simply tried a rest of the BIOS via removal of the BIOS bettery for a few seconds, replace and reboot? Could you borrow a DVI monitor from a friend just to check the card? Try a diffrent VGA - DVI adaptor.... Could you post the make and model of your mainboard please?
  22. Hello Vikki... We have Security guys here who can explain things better than me,I will pass your thread onto them... Firstly you did the right thing in changing your password....I had to change my FaceBook password last night.... Now I will say while using FaceBook your email accounts can be hacked via it...You know these "Like" pages, groups with silly titles these are sometimes hackers, they make up silly titles and people of course will click....If you use such apps as FarmVille, hackers make up pages offering free FarmVille cash, these are simply untrue, they are hackers.....Being tagged by friends in funny pictures, apps such as who is spying on your profile, see who deleted you are again hackers.FaceBook dont allow such applications.... You need to go through your FaceBook settings and untag yourself from pictures, unlike pages and groups, apps etc, delete and block them,if you feel anything is not right to you, delete and block.....Unless you truley know a friend who tags you in an obscure picture etc is knowledgeable of computers and knows they should not just click random items then always untag, delete and block anything you feel personaly is not right.... Time to clean up your FaceBook account, yes it will take time but better to be safe than loose your account.... The email you recieved appears to be a hacker trying to gain access to your accounts and personal data....As in some try to access your account from the USA....These type of emails usaly have a link or a download attachment.asking you to download and fill in the form or click this link and sign into your FB account.DO NOT CLICK OR DOWNLOAD ANYTHING......Always go direct to your FB profile page, delete and block these spam/hackers emails.... You proberly also get this type of thing from well named banks saying your account was accessed and we need to verify a sale or login,it again will say download this attachment and fill in the details, this is hackers.Do NOT download and fill in nore click any attached links,hackers..... Before deleteing these emails add them to your junk folder if your using MSN,Windows Live look at the top of the page and it should say "Sweep" click on it and choose block from the list, choose block all. This will not cure junk mail but will slow it down.... I dont think anything will stop these spammers and hackers they continualy try to gain access to millions of FaceBook account holders, email accounts etc but we can try to secure our computers and personal data... If your worried your computer may be hacked or infected please visit our Security Section for further help.... I will just ask the Security Team to help and advise you further on this Vikki....
  23. Hello Jim.... If you are installing on the SATA hard drive then just disconnect the IDE drive until your fully installed and up and running with windows... Shut down the computer and reconnect the IDE drive..... You can make the IDE drive D drive once you have logged onto windows via Computer Management.... How to set jumpers on the IDE drive depends on what make and model it is...Do you know the make and model?
  24. The error can mean: Bad or old CMOS battery. BIOS update. Disconnecting power from computer without shutting down computer Removing the BIOS battery resets the BIOS... You need to enter BIOS and check all values are correct such as time and date... If everything is corrrect in BIOS try loading defaults in BIOS save and exit.... If the computer was had the power disconnected while it was still running it is possible this could cause the CMOS to become corrupt. Ensure that the computer is ready to be shut off before turning off the computer. If you have a laptop computer make sure the battery is charged before disconnecting the power connection. Pressing the off button to shut down a laptop can cause corruption to the BIOS and BIOS battery.... Did you install a brand new lithium battery or use one from another computer? Cables or an external case can be purchased to turn the internal hard drive to an USB external hard drive....
  25. Hello and welcome.... Firstly we need the make and model of your computer or make and model of your mainboard...... Firstly download and run: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html This should give us make and model of your computer and mainboard and what graphics card you are running.... Looking at what processor you have you proberly have a PCI express slot wich should run the above card you listed... However just adding a new card is not always enough, sometimes you have to add a new power supply to.... What wattage is your power supply? Some graphics cards are cheap as they are low budget cards, some cards can be £100 to £200 or more....
