  3. Hello and welcome. Right you have ruled out the headset wich is a good thing. Ok now I sugest you download and install the Realtek driver and software and install it but do so while your headset is plugged in. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false Click on I accept to the above then click next. Choose your operating system then under download tab choose a site. Install. This may require a reboot of your computer to install. However are you running Windows 8 as this maybe your problem and drivers may not be avilable yet. If the driver install ok test your head set if it still not working there will be a little brown speaker icon on your task bar use it to configure the jack ports as in assign a port to a jack socket.
  4. Hello and welcome. Firstly choice of CPU is a personal choice, some like Intel some like AMD.I am an AMD girl. Both are good and AMD is a little cheaper than Intel. If you are just a general surfer,Facebook, downloading, uploading and some software like photoshop and NOT a high ended game player you realy only need a dual core. But if you can buy a quad for around the same price then its because you can afford it.But you may get a quad core AMD for the price of an Intel dual core. I certainly would go for more of a 3.0 on your cores if you choose either maker.Plus at least 4 gig RAM/Memory. A computer/laptop use both the dual core and quad core will utilise all the cores during usage. You can get a desktop icon or app for free and it will show you as you use the computer that all cores are being utilised. Do you have any brand computer in mind? JB.
  5. Hello and welcome. Could you please post your computer hardware specs please. Could you firstly check ALL internal cables such as the HDD,GPU etc,you could of moved or loosened something. Did you make sure the computer was properly turned off and unplugged from the wall before entering inside? When I first started building computers I killed a HDD this way and also fiddling inside while connected to a on power socket can sometimes kill a HDD. Ok now restart the computer and see if you can enter BIOS and load default settings save and exit. Or restart the computer and repeatedly tap F8 on startup. Let me know what happens please. JB.

  15. Im going to add to this thread. I do NOT belive any of this is true Matt. I work in the volunatry sector and have done for many years helping to run charitable organisations.I also was the main source of computer repairs for two organisations.I also repaired users of the buildings laptops and computers.Ive also been on commities applying for Lottery funded grants. So please do not try and tell me I am wrong. I know how the system works. And what you have written realy is untruthfull. Anyone with an ounce of common sence would of called the police. However charitable organisations have a network of FREE help such as computer repairs.I know of other organisations in Wales and England who also have FREE help. In days of real trouble ,the offices that fund these charitable organisations such as the Council,Gwalia,Red Cross,Barnardos and so on have a main head office that can be brought in to help with this situation. I also know many organisations who are donated computers and laptops. I agree fully with KenBs findings and my own. My opinion therefor is that this thread and your plea for help realy dont settle well with me. I there for will offer no further help with this situation. JB.

  17. Hello and welcome. We do not deal with or help with illegal software such as XP Black. There for offer no help with this software. However I will do a search for drivers for XP pro. Under HP/Compaq support tab you will find your hardware driver downloads.Looking at the mainboard it should not be to hard to find the drivers. However wich mainboard do you have as HP lists two. Mmmmm,it appears only Windows 7 and Vista both 32 and 64 bit drivers are available.

  20. 1. What is the make and model of the Computer? The Code 10 error pertains mainly to hardware and device driver issues or to compatibility issues between hardware drivers and additional software that is installed in Windows. Therefore, we recommend that you troubleshoot these issues by focusing on device drivers, on device configuration issues, and on hardware compatibility issues. You might need to update the chipset drivers and the Sound drivers. Perform the following methods and check if it helps. Method 1: Run the Fixit from the following link and check if it helps: Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/ Method 2: Refer to the method 1 and method 2 as mentioned in the following article: Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104 Method 3: Since code 10-related errors result due to incompatible/outdated or corrupted drivers, download and install the latest Windows 7 drivers for your laptop from the manufacturer’s website. Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly Update drivers: recommended links http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Update-drivers-recommended-links Hope this information is useful.
